  1. We always have breakfast in the MDR because there is less commotion than in the Ocean View Cafe at that hour. On the mornings we have an excursion we order the Express Breakfast.  I believe it is available on all Celebrity Ships; at least the ones we have been on.

  2. We have sailed on the Eclipse and Equinox several times and are doing a transatlantic on the Reflection November 5th from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale.  We have always been happy with dinner in the MDR.  There may be some dishes we like better than others but I think that is true where ever you dine.  All in all we think Celebrity does a great job and are happy with their service etc.  Celebrity is our cruise line of choice.

  3. My partner and I used to bring tuxes, suits  etc.  You get the idea. Now we just do country club casual and it works just fine for us.  Now it's a nice shirt, sweater ,dress  slacks and dress shoes and that is it.  It makes packing and traveling a whole lot easier.  As we get older it's all about comfort and still looking our best.  For those of you who wish to dress to the nines have at it and enjoy!

  4. My partner (83) and I (77) are booked on the Reflection from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale Nov. 5th of this year.  We booked our tours through Celebrity and did not encounter any problems.  That being said, we booked very easy tours that pretty much means  riding a bus and some light walking.  Not sure if we had booked something much more strenuous if the results would have been the same.  That being said we have sailed with Celebrity many times and have never encountered age restrictions.  Hope it works out for you and enjoy your cruise.

  5. Assuming the tips goes to the staff I have no problem with the increase.  These men and women work extremely hard and in many if not most cases their money goes to support their families.  I feel if we can afford to cruise then we can afford to tip generously.

  6. Maybe I missed it but did you book your flights through Celebrity?  If not you might consider doing so.  We always use them and have excellent luck.  In fact, we have book our air through them for our  Transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale in November.  Perhaps I should add we also book our hotels, tours etc through them as well.  We like the protection it affords.

  7. We will be sailing on board the Celebrity Summit in November. We don't plan on eating in the dining room very often - buffet, room service, etc for us. In your opinion, will we be better off tipping as we go or sticking with the gratuities package being added to our total bill? We plan on tipping our room attendant very well as they will probably be doing the majority of work for us.

    Any thoughts?

    thank you :)

Those who work on board a ship work long and hard hours and are supporting families back home. It is for this reason, we have the gratuities added to our account. At the end of the cruise we always pass out envelopes to those who have taken care of us. If you wish to do something different then that is your choice. Enjoy your cruise.

  8. Is it too ambitious to go on a repositioning cruise for first timers? I've actually done a 4 night trip Tampa to Cozumel and my husband hasn't done any. It's for April 2019 if we do it, I guess I'm nervous about so many days at sea in case the weather isn't "plain sailing" across the pond. It's for Miami to Spain with Norwegian. Any comments will be appreciated.:)

We love the Transatlantic cruises and do them frequently. We take a westbound TA that leave from either Rome or Barcelona because they usually go to either Miami or Fort Lauderdale. The reason being is you have no jet lag returning to the states. I would suggest the southern route because it gets warmer as you had south west. Just our preference. Hope it helps.

  9. Has anyone booked their hotel stay thru Celebrity? We are considering flying in the day before our November cruise out of Miami.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

We do the Transatlantic cruises from Europe to the states and always book everything through Celebrity. Air, pre-cruise hotels, transportation and tours etc. We like the protection Celebrity offers and the prices are often the best. Regardless of where you are cruising to out of Miami you may want to check with Celebrity to see if they offer transportation from your hotel to the ship etc then make your decision as to what you want to do. Just a thought. Enjoy your cruise.

  10. I have been thinking about this as well. From what I can tell you would need some sort of extension cord for it. As for the water, I tend to run it dry half the time, anyhow.... Still maybe someone with experience will be able to comment on it.

I would suggest you contact your travel agent if you are using one or speak to your concierge person at Celebrity. If you ask for distilled water and an extension cord for your C-Pap they will have it available for you when you board the ship. At least that was my experience when I was using a C-Pap machine. Hope this helps.

  11. Where have you ever seen this, Specialty restaurants have a set charge and I don’t think Celebrity has ever revealed what portion goes as a tip. In the beginning of Specialty restaurants all of the service charge went to the waiters but now no one really knows.

Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated. Leaving something extra on the table can't hurt regardless. Just wanted to be sure we weren't doing the wrong thing and it seems as though we are OK.

  12. Hope someone can help me with this question. We always have tips added to our account and sometime before the end of the cruise we always give our waiters and room attendants an envelope. That being said, what do you do when dining in a specialty restaurant? We leave 20% of the up charge. Is this sufficient or necessary. We drink very little so most likely there wouldn't be a liquor charge. Thank you for your feed back.

  13. Welcome to CC. Celebrity no longer has formal evenings. Now it's called evening chic. Celebrity's website gives the definition. Lots of options. Since your boys aren't toddlers shorts in the evening aren't allowed. I have seen young boys turned away from entering the MDR in the evening wearing shorts. During breakfast and lunch no problem. Plenty of napkins in the MDR so no need for them to wipe their hands on their pants. Celebrity also offers a laundry service.

For evenings my partner and I used to pack suits and Tuxes but now we go with Country Club casual and it works just fine. It takes us anywhere we want to go. That being said I think a woman in a nice sleeveless top is great but not for men.

  14. If you are in a concierge cabin, does the Summit have a dedicated concierge and can you contact them before the cruise?

We have done Concierge several times and each time we ask ourselves why. To be honest we haven't found the up charge worth the extra. We are totally happy in a standard stateroom. :)

  15. Just ended my cruise on the Silhouette and was extremely disappointed. There was a LARGE special interest group on the ship taking up more than 50% of the cabins. Bars were blocked, pools were reserved...it was incredibly uncomfortable. If I had been given notice of a group this large being booked, I would have changed my ship/week. But because I was not able to do so, I had a miserable experience.

Who can I get in touch with that can address my concerns?

We always book a balcony stateroom. If the deck is crowded then we have our private space to read and relax. The cruise line is in it to make money so don't be surprised when this happens. As far as the bar goes we always tip very well so service tends to be excellent in any event. I'd suggest you get your drink then stand, smile and chat and make new friends. :)

  16. Hello,

Am I able to bring a small extension cord (not power board) in my luggage to extend the power cord of the computer?

I have a teen who likes to watch movies via disc on the computer.

I don't want to break any rules.

    Thanks,

I travel with a C-Pap machine and my partner often has a heating pad with him. Celebrity wants you to use the extension cords they provide. You can ask your travel agent to call Celebrity and request one or you can call yourself. It should be waiting for your in your stateroom. If by chance it isn't, call your cabin attendant and one will be brought to you. We do it this way in the event there is a problem. If you use their cord and there is a problem it is on them and not you. Enjoy your cruise.
