  1. Agreed, and I hope they do. It's as much about passenger safety as it is for the crew.
  2. So this means 125 million people can get vaccinated in the US (250 million shots when you include the 50M Pfizer and the initial 100M of Moderna.) Just under 40% of the US population. According to recent polls, only 47% will get it, though I suspect that may change if airlines, cruise lines, etc., all require vaccination in order to travel, which a real possibility. Regardless, when it's my and my wife's time, we'll get our shots! Cannot wait.
  3. Well, if cruise lines require it for you to be on board, then you'll need to decide if you really want to cruise or not. Granted, that still an "IF", but I can see it being a requirement if they want to sail again.
  4. Gee, aren't you a winner. I bet you're a laugh riot at parties. Are you the one to push women and children aside to be first on the lifeboats as well?
  5. I, unfortunately, have. I could not just avoid it at the moment that it reared its ugly head since it was during dinner. I won't go into details, but one person used a very derogatory term in describing a person of Mexican descent. Myself and others told him and his wife that they would not be welcome back to the table for the remainder of the cruise, and I knew I used a few words that might even shock a sailor. (The table sat 8 people, by the way.) But to make sure they wouldn't come back, the 6 of us went to the Maître D' after dinner and explained it. He said he'd take care of it and
  6. It's simple: Ignore the idiots and control only what you can control. It's a shame that life isn't like a message board where you can put someone on ignore and you'd never see or hear their opinion again! Regardless of ideologies, as long as someone respects me, I'll respect them. I'm pretty easy going for the most part, but I have my "triggers" and I'll walk away if anyone "hits" them. I refuse to sink down to their level and argue. To quote: “Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.” ― Mark Twain.
  7. Yeah, MSNBC, which is where I got the info, was wrong when I posted that. Stephanie Rhule just corrected that about 10 minutes ago.
  8. No Pfizer vaccine in the US until at least June, mostly July. Wonderful. /sarcasm
  9. This Thursday Pfizer meets with the FDA to apply for an EUA and Moderna does the same on December 17th. No idea about AstraZeneca. By the way, excellent article about the vaccines here: https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/covid-vaccine-almost-here-here-s-what-you-should-know-n1250269
  10. I posted this article in the other vaccine thread, but I'll share it here as well: https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/05/health/covid-vaccine-trial-participant/index.html
  11. Yet another reason why the member you quoted is on my ignore list.
  12. I got into a heated discussion about that yesterday. The other person feels that travel industry shouldn't be able to dictate that people can use their service if vaccinated or not. My response was it's a private business, so they can make their rules and they need to also keep their employees safe. That didn't go over well. Mind you, this person is definitely very pro-mask, etc., but takes umbrage at that. Personally, whether we can travel or not, I'll get the vaccine. But if all of the travel industry requires people be vaccinated, I'm behind them 100%. I'd prefer not to se
  13. Interesting article for those wondering about the side effects of the vaccines, in this case Moderna: https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/05/health/covid-vaccine-trial-participant/index.html
  14. That article definitely needs a much better proofreader... "Shan Soe-Lin, Ph.D., a lecturer in global affairs at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and a trained epidemoioglost who predicted in April 2019 that mask-wearing would continue until at least the spring of 2020, said that she believes the trend will continue as a social norm even as vaccines begin to be distributed." I think they mean 2020 and 2021 respectively. But, hey, I won't call them trash or anything like that. Mistakes happen after all.
  15. My situation is a tad better with my cruise in October and final payment due the end of July. I'll only pay if my wife and I are inoculated by then. I hope you're fortunate and you're able to go.
  16. Trust me, it did not go unnoticed. Hence the reason I responded only to you. Anyway, moving on now.
  17. Bingo. 92% of the deaths... Sheesh, gotta love the knee jerk reactions. You're the only one who saw the obvious. Thanks.
  18. While I personally feel that they should make it mandatory, I understand the politics in why Biden is saying what he's saying. One thing to remember here: If you're 55 and older and you catch this virus, you have a 92% chance of dying from it. So those of us who are over 55, why wouldn't you get the vaccine then? Oh, and that's NOT a made up number. That number comes directly from the CDC (LINK)
  19. While I'm sure this has been posted here before (honestly, I'm not going to search through 1,500+ comments! ), here's the CDC's recommendation for vaccine allocation: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/acip/meetings/downloads/slides-2020-11/COVID-04-Dooling.pdf It's going to be a bit of a clusterf*** the next 46-90 days in getting things organized, but I strongly suspect by February 1st everything will be firmly in place and people will be getting vaccinated. And that by June/July the majority of the people who want to be vaccinated will be. The key to getting back to semi-normal is t
  20. And by "sensible" you mean "idiotic", right? Heck, it's not like millions have already died from this....
  21. Agreed. Hell, there are certain countries that will deny you entrance unless you're vaccinated for various diseases already. I don't recall too many people crying about their rights being all trampled on. They really need to adopt your saying: Let's not fight it- just get vaccinated for all of our sakes!
  22. Icons are back for me! I cleared the cache many days ago )over a week?) and nothing happened. I've been back daily since then and no icons until tonight. Whatever was done to fix this, thank you!
  23. My wife falls under 2 of those conditions whereas I'm only under one of them: People at high risk for severe COVID-19 illness due to underlying medical conditions People 65 years and older My wife is older than 65 and we both are diabetic. Be that as it may, our only concern right now is being able to get vaccinated by the end of June, which I believe will be very possible. Not only to provide us with the potential protection, but, for purely selfish reasons, we have a cruise where the final payment is due on July 29th. I'll pay it if we're vaccinate
