  1. Yes , your Viking excursion to the National Park should be other outdoorsy cruisers. I looked it up and it is 40 minutes outside of Stockholm. It is an old growth forrest trails, so a hike in the woods with guide. The snack will probably be "fika",Swedish morning and afternoon break of coffee and great rolls ! I did look at Homeland itinerary and there are also kayaking and bike ride and sauna tours while in Stockholm. Go to your roll call and you can find others who will be in your specific cruise. There you can ask there are other outdoors folks and even organize your own small group private excursion. At top of page is link to Viking Roll Call, find your ship and date and you are all set. Welcome Cruise Critic.
  2. The Vesta is currently on her first sailing. She was finished on time.
  3. When I was in Turkey I used my credit card for my keepsakes. But I was buying a rug in the Grand Bazaar, and gold charm in Kusadasi. I did have a small amt of Turkish lira to tip the tour guides and buy some pretzels from a street vendor.
  4. MSP is hub for Delta. Direct flight to Iceland with Delta and Icelandic Air during the season.
  5. My TA Agency always gives gratuities as agency perk, plus our TA also gives some OBC when we book a cruise through him. We also give some crew members cash and thank you note on last day of the cruise. Did this also on Celebrity cruise line before we switched to Viking Ocean.
  6. Your trip in September will be wonderful. You will find all sorts of items that interest you as gifts or keepsakes. As to price ,remember that you will be paying Euro so the exchange rate with US $ will be a factor. I remember paying 1.70 Us per Euro in 2008 and in 2023 it as basically 1-1 change rate.
  7. My sentiment too. Loved the service and food on my Atlantic Crossing in April of 2025. Looking forward to my Viking cruise in April 2026.
  8. Offer herring in Mamsen at lunch and late night snack. Not just at breakfast.
  9. The reason there is no roll for this cruise is that no one started one. So go back to roll call for the Neptune and start one.🎉 Please read how to start roll call at the top of the roll call page. Enjoy your roll call. This forum is for general Viking Ocean questions, and live reports.
  10. I have so enjoyed your live report of your cruise. Have a wonderful time with your 16 yr old grandson! I just spent the day with my 13 yr old grandson. Learn a lot from their generation.
  11. I like the room service menu beyond the breakfast room service menu. I used it on my transatlantic when I felt alittle seasick for the first time in my life and did not want to eat lunch in WC.I ordered soup and French fries and cheese platter. It was great. By dinner I was feeling much better and went to Restaurant.
  12. During the day on the Aquavit terrace and pool area, glasses of very coldwater is passed out by servers, during the heat of the day. You can always get a variety of mocktails at any bar throughout the day. and evening they are on the menu.Just ask. My sister found them very refreshing. You can ask bartender to make you a" virgin Pina colada" or even" Abstinence on the Beach " , my sister's favorite at the Aquavit Bar when we came back from a tour and met up with friends.
  13. Hoping my cruise on Viking Vesta "Greek Odyssey" beginning April 11 2026 has the same kind of weather as your experience.
  14. It depends on the weather . In April it was probably open 4 out of the six days we were crossing the Atlantic. I remember three of those days the ocean was like a lake. Pool roof was open, we had lunch at pool grille, then I spent the afternoon on our balcony reading/ watching the ocean/ breathing the ocean air/ sitting in the sun.😍
  15. I agree . Also love Mamsen for a quick lunch or late breakfast and late night snacks.
  16. Been on two Viking Trans Atlantic :One from San Juan the other from Fort Lauderdale and both ending in Barcelona. Loved them both. Lots of on board activities during all those sea days as others above have noted. I loved the movies under the stars on the pool deck, grilled lunches and dinners around the aquavit and pool area. There were two of these on the Viking Mars in April. Best of all is time to relax ,renew yourself on a beautifully designed ship with the best crew. Met many interesting passengers who love to travel.I went with a close friend.
  17. I am sure this special trip will give you lasting memories . Viking crew are the best and the ship is Scandinavian beautiful. Always can see the water and sky from the common spaces. Food is very good and. I love the Chef Table tasting menu for a change of pace. Welcome to Cruise Critic and to the Viking forum. Be sure to join you roll call for you particular voyage and ship. What is your itinerary for your first Viking voyage?
  18. I feel so lucky to be on a Viking ship when I see those big behemoths ships with thousands of people at the same port.
  19. On my transatlantic on the Viking Mars in March 2025, the pier building was empty except for Viking guests. We got there about 1;30 pm. We had free Air and flew in the same day. (which was a first for me). there was escalators, and elevators and it was an easy walk to board the ship, to receive your glass of bubbly and start smiling ... Clay ,you will have a lovely relaxing vacation across the Atlantic as I did , I am sure.🚢
  20. As for coffee, it is available in your stateroom( exceptV staterooms) with the Nespresso machine or room service 24/7. At the Viking Bar and Explorer lounge you can get coffee from early morning to late at night, including expresso based specialty coffees and of course tea. And there is even a machine for self service in World cafe if you like during off hrs. One will never go thirsty on a Viking ship. 😊
  21. Peregrina, My grandson is now 24 and has gotten t shirts from me from all over the world since he was a toddler. Now I get him a nice cap which he wear a lot because he shaved his head this winter.
  22. OMG, hope you frame that photo or at least put it on your Christmas cards! Outstanding.🎉
  23. Thank you for honest review of your cruise. I am lucky that I went to Rome band Italy both on land trips and cruises over 15 years ago. I would try for the quiet seasons cruises in the Med when there should be fewer tourists. Maybe the shops will be close but all the ancient sites and museums will be open. Sorry you had some very rude and thoughtless fellow passengers. I prefer not to eat in the World Cafe for dinner. Even if I had been on na excursion all day, we usually go to Restaurant at 8:30 and then back to cabin. On my previous port intense cruises, I always plan my own sea day. It is sensory overload for me , and need the time to reflect, relax and have a very empty ship for the day. I too love, love Tuscany and all the little towns and regional times.
  24. When on the Mars in April, I usually stopped by and did get some items both for lunch and dinner on occasion. it is a nice station instead of pasta station another ships.
