We were at Hubbard in the morning and it was sunny, but chilly. We had cabin 8181 aft with an almost 180 view. We sat and watched from our veranda. The kids had their cameras on tripods so they could capture the calving. Ordered room service and enjoyed the view. Our itinerary was a little different. We didSitka and not Hoonah.

Just got off the Infinity with my two teens, 16 and 19. Lots of younger kids, but not too many teens. They didn't mind as they haven't been able to spend time together since my son has been away at college and a summer internship. There was a definitely larger international crowd than our last Alaskan cruise. Most of the teens we saw were not English speakers. A lot of multi-generational groups as well.

We just got off the Infinity and liked that show. My DD, 16, is a Queen fan, so we couldn't miss. It was not the first night show though, later in the week. We thought the entertainment was darn good. We are not cruisers usually, so we don't have much to reference. Enjoy, we did!

I bribed our 11 yr old with escargot. He was having trouble behaving, so I told him he wouldn't get his escargot if he didn't smarten up. He's now 19 and remembers that cruise and still loves escargot. He was excited to see it on the menus I was showing him for our upcoming Alaska cruise. It's a great time to get kids to venture outside the kid food realm. So many options and no problem if they don't like it. Just order something else!

I stayed there. It's not the best neighborhood, but not the worst. I felt safe enough, and it was just my teen daughter and myself. I wouldn't walk around the area. The breakfast was nice and the rooms were clean albeit pretty basic. If you are leaving a car there, the parking is in an underground garage. Would I stay there again? Sure.

I own a jewelry store and I shop to get a chuckle at the "deals." Usually it's the quality that is missing. They use certificates I have never heard of, and push items that are dubious. I have seen so much fake tanzanite come into my store. If you want a momento, buy one, but don't think you are getting a bargain. If you are buying something expensive, do it where you can go back if you have a problem and have them resolve it. You local jeweler cannot resolve problems resulting from crappy jewelry without charging you. I see it over and over. I have so many stories.

I couldn't do anything I needed to do on the new website. I wanted to upgrade my kids drink packages and select traditional dining. Had to call. They will probably get it together when revenue drops.

I'm a jeweler. I always wear jewels. I plan on taking my south sea pearl strand as pearls look fabulous with black, and black is slimming. Right ladies?I love that I can keep my jewelry in the safe and not worry. If I'm going dress up, my jewelry better be on point. I would be a disgrace to my profession.

Well said. We chose the Kantishna Experience since we were with my parents and our two kids. We were concerned with getting off the shuttle and waiting for 6 seats on the same shuttle to go back from Wonder Lake. I also didn't want the hassle of getting lunch picked up for the 6 of us. I didn't want to get all six of us to the shuttle. I liked being picked up at our hotel. I also used the dog sledding demo and gold panning as an incentive for the loong trip for my kids. It worked. My kids loved it. I loved having lunch ready for me and the homemade cookies and hot cocoa on the drive into the park at a potty break.
Had it just been the two of us, I probably would have opted for the shuttle. Travel with six people just makes logistics a little harder, especially with kids.
Our tour guide from Kantishna was Fantastic. She was from Haines and was a Tinglit native. She had great stories and was incredibly knowledgable. She spotted animals that most of us couldn't see!

we were on the Sapphire this summer and had a partially obstructed view. It turned out that the obstruction was a search light that was removed once we left a port, so our view once we sailed was great! We were in E417.
Has anyone had landsickness or MdDS post cruise? How long did it last?

I didn't some research as it has affected me. It mostly occurs in women, 40-60 years old and have your menstrual cycle while on the cruise can compound it. Cruise must be 7 days or more. Check, check, and check. Been a month and just down to evenings when I'm tired. Better when I'm driving which is common. Good news is I get to relive my cruise each day!
