EZ Air - problem with the way name is ticketed?
skynight replied to UKWildcatCruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
It is common for first & middle name to be combined as one on the airline ticket. As long as the names match your official ID should not be an issue. Check your air booking on the airline site to make certain what the airline has matches your ID. -
Tell me more about Princess Reserve Collection
skynight replied to Seachero's topic in Princess Cruises
The reason to book a Reserve Collections mini suite is for the dining. The other so called benefits are not really important. https://www.princess.com/en-us/staterooms/reserve-collection -
Only if you have the standard fare where you are being charged daily. Crew Appreciation can not be removed or adjusted downwards from Plus or Premier fare packages. It is embedded in the full cost of the package.

Milk and other beverages in the buffet seating area. There are pitchers of milk to pour near the cereal area. I have not seen cartons. When seated buffet waiters roam the seating area and ask you if you wish to have a beverage. They will pour you a glass from a pitcher. On most ships you can also go to the self service area to get your own milk. I have seen chocolate milk. I think that may be in cartons.

Do you use a Travel Agent? If so, some questions.
skynight replied to skindeep's topic in Princess Cruises
I do my own research and select my own cruises. I then notify my T.A. regarding cruise(s), preferred cabin selections. I notify the T.A. The T.A. will contact Princess and make the booking(s). The T.A. normally does provide additional OBC. Any issues I contact the T.A. and they deal with Princess. I sail lots of b2bs, so I put them together. Usually I have separate booking numbers to allow flexibility and will notify the T.A. to make separate bookings. Once booked I book my own air using EZ Air or direct with the airline. Depends on the situation. A T.A. will do most or all of what you mention, providing you give them parameters on what you are looking for. -
Will not be Saturday, 23rd. Formal nights are neve the lase evening of the cruise as most passengers pack their belongings and place them outside the cabin for pick up before going to dinner. I'm thinking probably Wednesday and Friday. You may want to know that production shows are normally on formal nights, and are normally at 7:30 and 9:30. You may also wish to be aware that not very many passengers dress in true formal wear. Mostly they are in what I would call nice casual.

Most likely will have a naturalist on board giving talks.

What ship? Different classes of ships have different thermal area designs.

I don't see how you think the closet area will be messy. The closest is about 6 feet long with a long shelf There are lots of hangers and if you require additional just ask your cabin steward. There is lots of floor space. At the end there is a separate wardrobe closet with door. The top shelf has the cabin safe. I have used the other shelves for other clothing items. Luggage up to 10 inches deep will fit under the bed. Luggage also can be easily stored standing at the back end of the closet. Just roll it in.

No fill the bag laundry. There is a cost per item. Someone will have a copy of the laundry sheet. There are guest speakers on some itineraries. From what you mentioned trivia, karaoke are run by cruise director's staff. Bingo is run by the casino and is a money game. The other things you mentioned are not hosted. Passengers just meet. Sometimes they have crafts, depends on how many sea days. A few days before sailing the daily activities and entertainment schedule will fully populate. There is lots of live music.

I think you will find the open closet concept nice. It is the way the ship was designed. There is a way to place opaque tape over the light sensor. But, I think you will find this light a non issue.

Adding princess plus or premier after initial booking
skynight replied to Optotronics's topic in Princess Cruises
First I have heard of this. Something does not seem correct. Did you book direct? I would say call Princess. If through a TA or a PVP then contact them. -
Some comments that may assist you. I believe you will find the Grand Princess in nice condition even though it is an older ship. There are 2,600 passengers, so not tons of crowds. On board there will be lots of activities and lots of live music in lounges such as Crooner's, Wheelhouse Bar, the main piazza, Explorer's Lounge, on deck. I would think that a Reserve Collection mini suite, mid ship deck 9, would be the closest to Aqua Class. Passengers in these cabins are entitled to Reserve Collection dining. This is a section of the deck 6, mid ship MDR. It is walk in with prompt seating, improved service and some extra menu items. Service is at a very high standard. DR is open every day for breakfast and dinner and for lunch on sea days. Plus or Premier packages. Both packages include the daily gratuity and unlimited internet. They also include the one time $15 Ocean Now (order from your phone app for delivery anywhere on the ship), as well as the $5/phone call for room service. The Plus fare package, $60/pp/day, includes unlimited non alcoholic beverages and up to $15 menu priced alcoholic beverages, which is maybe 85 to 90% of all standard alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Also note there is no additional service charge per drink. That is included in the package. It also includes 2 casual 3 course meals per booking, in your case the week. The Grand has Alfredo's individual pizza very good and I think one other. There are some other benefits which I don't think are very important. The Premier fare package, $90/pp/day, includes unlimited non alcoholic beverages and unlimited alcoholic beverages menu priced up to $20. It also includes unlimited casual and specialty dining dinners. The Grand Has two specialty restaurants Crown Grill and Sabatini's. Current costs including the service charge is $65/pp. In my opinion if you book a Reserve Collection Mini Suite then the Premier fare package is not required. I believe the Plus fare to be a good value. Regarding flights to San Juan. Once booked you can go into your booking and select your flights. It is very easy, flexible, cost effective, and payment is due at final payment time. I do recommend that you fly in on Saturday and stay overnight in San Juan. If you do this do not select Princess transfers. Just take a cab.

Ruby Princess Alaskan Cruise Questions
skynight replied to MsSoCalCruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
1) At the port of San Francisco pier 27 normally opens around 9/9:30am. Boarding begins somewhere between 10:30 and 11am. 7) When sailing north in Alaska waters, as you would expect, you have to be prepared for all types of weather, cool, rain, sunny, cloudy. Pack layered clothing. -
Insurance will certainly require medical confirmation that he should not travel. I don't think just not feeling well would count as a valid reason.

Just booked Sky Princess…do package prices change?
skynight replied to Heatherco's topic in Princess Cruises
Yes. If you choose to remain with the $80/day package then you received the $80/day benefits as they were when you booked. You were offered the opportunity to upgrade to the new package for $10/day additional. You would then receive the new benefits. It was your choice. -
Just booked Sky Princess…do package prices change?
skynight replied to Heatherco's topic in Princess Cruises
As posted the plus, $60/pp/day, and premier package, $90/pp/day, are fixed, pre-cruise costs. Princess could raise the cost at any time. But, if you book at the current cost that is what you will pay and the benefits will remain as they were when you booked the package. Princess does not use dynamic pricing. -
The area was turned into a sanctuary a number of years after the ship was built. The design was made to fit the space. The Island, sister ship when built, had a major renovation to the entire aft section, thus a different sanctuary design.

Stock answer, yes, it is allowed. I guess it depends on the ship, what specialty restaurant you are looking for, what market and what time. If you are in a full suite then ask your concierge to help. Otherwise go to the restaurant(s) on boarding day to see what they have available. There should be someone there starting around noon. I guess you could also use the app once on board. I'm not so good with that. Boarding day evenings are usually available. I sail lots of b2bs and that is a day I choose.

Just booked. Where do I pick a dining time?
skynight replied to Heatherco's topic in Princess Cruises
If you are in a full suite, Reserve Collections mini suite or on the Sun or Star Princess in a Sanctuary Class cabin then you do not have to select a dining time. Dining will be walk in dining in a special DR or section of a DR depending on the ship. If not in the above cabins then there are three dining choices. a) traditional dining, same time, same waiter, same table, early or late seating. b) reserve time dining starting at 5pm and every 20 minutes after that ie. 5:20, 5:40 and so on. c) Walk in anytime dining no reservations DR opens at 5pm. Dining selections are made on the app. If you are platinum or elite loyalty level you can select your dining after you book. If not you must wait until you make final payment. -

Specialty Coffee on Royal Princess
skynight replied to Functioning Cruiseaholic's topic in Princess Cruises
I'm going to amend my response. It's been a while since I was on the Royal Princess. I think the Pastry Shop on the Lido deck may be the go to for specialty coffees. -
Specialty Coffee on Royal Princess

Coffee & Cones. Ocean Now app from anywhere on board. -
In the US 90 minutes before sailing is a good cut off to use. The ship is required to provide the authorities a passenger manifest 60 minutes before sailing.
