  1. Aloha. I have had aft rear wraparound Neptunes but prefer mid ship closer to the lounge but forward of its entrance closer to a pinnacle so there are fewer passengers walking past
  2. Aloha. The near conclusion to a long voyage is always an interesting time. When you return home what are some of your activities if I may ask? Family, friends, the house? What are your go to meals? Caesar salad, pineapple pizza, prime rib? Just curious as I find our at home differs based on where we are. As you know we divide our time between NY and Honolulu. In NY its is family always with my homemade sauce and pasta and of course bagels and bbq. In Honolulu it is loco moco, garlic shrimp, fresh fish and regular evenings at the Halekulani to listen to music while enjoying poke. Oh.. Not to forget doctor visits lol!
  3. Aloha. Happiest of birthdays! It is always special when the staff recognizes a special moment. My parents were regulars on HAL and Crystal and in several instances the Captain would deliver room service to their suite which the line was known for with long time passengers. Once on HAL my mom politely asked no recognition in the dining room so they were invited to a private bridge tour wherein they found balloons and cake and the Captain and staff sang happy birthday 😂 My wife also asks for privacy and we have also been feted with more subdue recognition. Perhaps living in Manhattan and Honolulu we like more quiet lol! All blessings.
  4. Aloha. We love Polynesia and I thank you for sharing your journey and experiences
  5. Aloha. 1971. Greek Line Olympia. Countless around the world thereafter. Blessed to do so
  6. Aloha. We have been blessed to sail in the QM2 since 2004 and love her. Born and and raised in Manhattan and now divide our time between NY and Honolulu. 1 or 2 night cruises were so much fun years ago but are no longer available in the states. That said I would jump at the opportunity!
  7. Aloha. Blessed to have sailed in her. Thank you for your posts!!!
  8. AlohaJust like buying a car, home, washer and dryer lol
  9. Aloha. We have been blessed to sail HAL since the 1970s and in Neptune Suites countless times for a few decades. Well worth it. I personally love the lounge in the early am and at times during the day. I highly recommend you consider.
  10. Aloha. Most lines have replaced celebrity chefs. Most certainly because they want too much money. Having been blessed to be born and raised in Manhattan although we now divide our time between NY and Honolulu, we have dined in many celebrity restaurants. Yes the food is delicious and presentation and service outstanding but at a cost. For many cruisers who are not from major digits I respect the draw but I guess another trend among the bean counters to save money.
  11. Aloha. I love sweetbreads. I have asked for it many times in the Queens Grill on Canard and actually the first time sailing on Seabourn lol!
  12. Aloha. Like you and other posters I enjoy getting up early like 4:30 while the Mrs and years ago the rest of the family sleeps. Even though I am retired its a great quite time to have coffee and a a little nosh and read the papers. Since each ship, port, hotel, etc is different I scout the scene but in many instances will save something to have with my am coffee. I do bring my favorite insulated mug so I can have a few cups in peace and tranquility generally outdoors. You post an interesting issue so I look forward to your thoughts and experiences as well as others. Thank you!
  13. Aloha. Looking forward to your review of the new ship. We have been blessed to sail princess including visiting and staying in the ports you are visiting. We love princess and look forward to you sharing your voyage with us!
  14. Aloha. Glad you are enjoying your journey around Japan. Curious if you tried the egg salad sandwich at 7-11. It sounds funny but since it is a Japanese company they are well known for their egg salad sandwich. As you know we divide our time between NY and Honolulu. In Hawaii we love them and of course their spam musubi. Most enjoyable. In NY not so much lol.
  15. Aloha. Always loved the yum yum man and the chimes. Glad they are keeping these traditions
  16. Aloha. A great big mahalo to you for providing such detailed information. We are blessed to have some long cruises reserved on HAL and other high end lines but it is true what Gus said about so many top tier guests like ourselves and you that the benefits are scant except for the personified gifts we receive around the holidays. I am more geared towards the ship the line the itinerary. Dividing our time between NY and Honolulu I enjoy being unnoticed as long as the service and quality is there. That said I am so grateful for your summary. Sad that John and Dianne are not on board as their input would have been interesting. Some others just are too full of themselves as I do not include them in my analysis. Best regards!!!
  17. Aloha. Have been following Johns posts on FB but so happy to read your post here on CC. All Blessings and love!
  18. Aloha. She is doing well and recovering Thank God. What a lovely couple. Not self centered and not self important. Loved reading their posts just like the inside cabin.
  19. Aloha. Blessed to sail since the 1970s and with various cruise lines and ships. It is impossible to compare in my opinion yesteryear and now. The cruise lines in my opinion really don't care about loyalty as much. Too many cruisers. I love the yum yum man on HAL and order off the menu in QG on Canard etc etc but really don't need nor care to meet the captain and cruise director. That said I expect my moneys worth and it is an individual opinion but its our choice to make and these forums provide an excellent tool to see what is going on and changes and experiences being encountered.
  20. Aloha. Blessed to be born and raised in Manhattan and now divide our time between there and Hawaii. Cruising and flying to Bermuda since the early 1970s and will only cruise there during June and July and fly Memorial Day weekend and mid August. Just my opinion but noticed cruise lines are sailing there almost year round now. The water is rough the weather is meh during other times. I respect those traveling there other times but it is not conducive in my opinion to an experience one may be expecting.
