  1. quote does not work any more for me, sorry AFIK they are providing paper straws on the Island. I came prepare with my own plastic straws.
  2. My current experience ... I had a "free" specialty dining perk as part of my booking. Well, it was not free after all. I had to pay up front using a live person. I found my credit card had been charged even though I was told no charge, they saw my "free" perk. I called Princess before the cruise and was told I had to see Passenger Services to request a refund. I did and was told they have no way to refund my credit card, all they do is give you OBC. So I ended up paying for my "free" specialty dining. Very sneaky Princess, having us pay for "free" perks this way. IMO it really does not have to be done that way. Why not allow a reservation when they can see we have a "free" perk. Just another money grab. Had I waited until I was on board I would likely not have been able to find a reservation available.
  3. I don't want to derail the thread, but..... There is also an issue that those of us who have specialty dining as a booking perk, not intending to use OBC are also charged on our credit card. What has happened to me is if I choose not to pay and I wait until boarding there is scant to no availability to book specialty dining.
  4. WOW! Many different looking versions. Hmmmmm, what's up with that? I am so sad about the demise of one of my favorites, love boat dream 😞 This replacement does not even look like something I would want to try. The official Norman Love pistachio dome was one of my favorites. So sad what they have done now.
  5. I believe you put out your luggage, claim your luggage like normal, do arrival formalities, exit building and proceed to Princess bus. I would expect to receive specific instructions in your cabin a day or so ahead. My experience with this transfer was not a good one. The bus parked in an underground parking structure in 1 terminal only ( 2 or maybe 3) and we had to make our way to our ticket/check in counter dragging our luggage. No carts in an underground parking structure. I do not think they would stop at a hotel that is not their destination Personally, I would now opt for a private company for a Heathrow transfer, Unfortunately it appears Smith's for airports has ceased operations.   6. My recommendation to Alaska first timers is to do a cruise/tour. Princess offers many. There is so much missed if you do not get into the interior. It will be 11 or 12 days. Try to find one with 2 nights in Denali NP. I agree with making sure you get to see Glacier Bay on the cruise portion.

  10. This sounds like my Discovery experience this summer too and that cruise was probably at just about normal capacity. Similar on Enchanted in October, Really bad on Sapphire this month. It was so bad, it messed with my laptop to where it was giving me that dreaded blue screen WINDOWS HAS A PROBLEM and would shut down and would generally freeze up just trying to access a website or move to next page on a website. The company that Princess has outsourced to has found ways to block drop box, my email (from sending or replying) and they give Facebook the lowest priority, it was ridiculous. Nothing close to the internet we know at home. The worst thing IMO is Princess does not seem to care or be concerned about it. This was my experience and my opinion, YMMV
  11. Some balcony categories have a foot stool, some do not. It may vary from ship to ship as well. I got lucky on my recent Sapphire cruise in an aft Caribe balcony. Also, the majority of balconies on the newer ships are very narrow, as in just barely enough room for legs sitting forward. Check deck plan carefully.
  12. I have been unable to use the "Quote" feature on CC since I finally was able to get get back on CC after something happened and I could not sign in. I am now signed in only because CC help sent me a link to try and there was a log-In box with that screen. I used it and now I am again signed in, but the screen has never been fixed. Since that event I now no longer can use the "Quote" feature. If I click it, the page just moves to the top. I contacted CC help last week, but nothing has changed so far. I am just wondering if this is just me or if others are having a similar issue not being able to use the "Quote" feature
  13. Suggestion 1 Book the cruise and cabin of your choice on the website and then find yourself a good Travel Agent and turn the booking over to them. That has to be done within 90 days of booking Suggestion 2 Book the cruise and cabin of your choice on the website and then call Princess and say you wish to make your deposit or payment. Suggestion 3 Call and get another Princess agent that will be helpful to you.
  14. I am elite and also booked my most recent cruise on the Sapphire as Standard. Maybe I was lucky on purchasing internet in the App. At first it was full price, then I looked one day and it was showing the price with the 50% discount, so I jumped on it, I do not know what the criteria was to show the discount. My understanding is that you CAN purchase internet once on board at a 50% discount, it us just discounted from the higher price. You might try live chat and see if they can do anything for you to purchase it advance WITH the discounted price.

  17. I am currently on board the Sapphire. It appears that masks are still optional for the crew and some are wearing them. I do see more masks among passengers since the captains announcement yesterday. Today I am keeping to myself in my cabin, but going to dinner in the MDR. Captain is on PA right now and new count is 83, nearly doubled Ugh!
  18. I am currently on board the Sapphire Princess. The WiFi here has blocks and hurdles making it a terrible, painful experience. I am unable to upload photo files from a cloud type situation. I was told it is blocked for security reasons. My main social media site that starts with a F has been the most horrible, it just freezes and does not load any time of day I try. I can not send or reply to email (blocked) using my preferred method. Internet manager told me it is because they give priority to streaming. Overall a very unpleasant experience with the "fastest WiFi on the seas" Yeah,right! FYI, I am using a laptop not a phone for internet. I have a very long cruise upcoming on the Island and wonder if the WiFi on her is also this bad. I would like to hear from those on board the Island on how the WiFi is.
  19. Coral has an International Cafe built into a corner of the casino. It has No La Patisserie any more. That area has become Good Spirits At Sea on Coral too. But thank goodness they scrapped the plan to do the same to Coral that they did to Island.
  20. Captain of Sapphire was said to be Todd McBain last night on board per one of the entertainment staff. Half way to Hawaii now :-)
  21. To answer your question. I was on the week prior and I DID find it crowded with lines. Coffee by the IC, elevators-specifically mid ship, disembarking at ports (tendering particularly) and WHOA! the lines waiting for tender back. Signs of a very full ship.
  22. I do understand your concern. I am sad that the staff made you feel they were not concerned. But there are some things to point out here. Medallion Net is Wifi provided by satellites. Medallion Net is NOT the same as the Medallion App or the little round device we are given to board the cruise, buy drinks, make purchases and unlock our cabin door. All of those are related to the App, originally called Medallion Class and now shows up as just Princess on our devices. On board the App is working on the ship's intranet, which is not the same as Wifi or internet.
