  1. However the S3 which is the least expensive sky suite is partially obstructed. We make sure our S2 is on the opposite side of the ship from the Magic carpet. It also can be noisey if the carpet is above or below the level of your cabin- or the railings create a real obstruction. For a couple of hundred dollars go for the S2.
  2. Without question a sky suite or above. You can enjoy the suite lounge and other suite perks- Michael's club IMO is great- especially for a partial crossing- We enjoy our time in the club. Luminae, the suite restaurant, is also great. They have other perks for suite guests. Your friends parents can have a handicapped sky suite next to hers, if she is sailing also- I wouldn't even consider AQ or CC.
  3. Actually, just looked at the menu- the choices really aren't great- would rather just dine in Tuscan as I prefer the choices offered. Since we also have the drink package, we can order most wines with our dinner.
  4. I think you will enjoy the summit- a great ship and the size is perfect. Drop your carry on off in your cabin. Check other bag- I would suggest if you bring valuables, place in your carry-on. You can put in your (small) safe before touring the ship and having lunch. Enjoy your cruise
  5. This past "spring break" my neice, grand niece and nephew were scheduled to leave from NY to FLL for a cruise. They were notified the night before that due to a rain storm, no flights would depart the next day! We all called every airline and tried to get them a flight the next morning from multiple states- Finally they scheduled a flight from Boston Logan, about 5 hour drive away- they left and my nephew drove in the middle of the night he was exhausted and had to drive in the rain-but they made the cruise. So no matter what time of year, flights get delayed and or cancelled. It happened to us also many years ago on an alaska cruise coming home. Canada had a power failure and since our departure was from Vancouver, we had to take a bus to seattle to get a flight home- of course delays going home isn't as bad as missing your cruise. However we were in a rush as we had a family wedding the next day!
  6. Anybody have past experience with special discounts available on Black Friday? We are interested in upgrading without using RoyalUp for our January cruise. Thanks
  7. I would try to change- the accessible rooms, while larger- have features that work for handicapped people- the sinks are much lower, to accomodate a wheel chair as are the closets. The shower is roll in and the water leaks all over the bathroom floor- again perfert for those requiring a wheelchair. Enjoy your cruise.
  8. Many people do not ask for top shelf liquor and get the house liquor.
  9. We will also be on the Oasis in August 2020, with our nephew, his wife and their 10 year old daughter.
  10. Interested in this comparison . We are Elite plus on Celebrity and Diamond on Royal (without the reciprocity) We didn't like Princess as much as Celebrity-found it "plain vanilla" and Carnival- not for us either- Also tried Disney- but it is very overpriced and for a niche market for young children and those who enjoy Disney. NCL IMO is at the bottom of our list-unless you sail in the haven which is very good- but pricey. Thus far- the negative take a way is the smoking policy- that might make me not consider HAL. For now, will stick with Royal and Celebrity.
  11. Unless you are in a suite, you have to reserve all of the shows- If in a suite, only the Comedy club. Not sure what applies to the top tier Royal members.
  12. While you get benefits a listed in other posts, we were in an owners suite on the Adventure of the seas and very disappointed. We love the suite lounges on the Oasis class ship, but on the adventure, it was a makeshift lounge with a portable bar. Not the usual snacks and drinks as on the other ships. No true suite deck, a few chairs in direct sun by the regular pool. We like the hot tub, suite cabanas and bar on the Oasis class ships- Missed a true suite restaurant also. On a positive note the suite was a good size with plently of storage, and we like no reservations and priority entrance to shows.
  13. Also, with the delux drink package- we always tell the bartenders to use "top shelf" liquor. It makes a difference.
  14. We were on the Harmony of the Seas and when we were in Labadee last year, a young man was alledgedly climbing from one stateroom to another and fell! Landed on the dock! People were getting off the ship and looked in horror! Of course he died. What a dumb thing to do! So sad.
  15. While a junior suite is a good sized cabin with a huge walk in closet, bidding on it will actually lessen the likelihood of you getting a true suite that includes great perks. If your jr suite bid is accepted it will cancel out the bid for grand suite or higher. The ship has many more JR suites then the true suites Enjoy your cruise, regardless of which cabin/suite you are sailing in .
  16. Would be great if the bionic bar was changed into a true Martini bar like on the Celebrity ships- (except the edge) The ice top is fun and watching the bartenders prepare drinks a show!
  17. Per room- also if you are in the picture and include others- will be covered for your package. Question- I called Royal and was told not available for my cruise- I used to book directly from mycruisephotos.com but cannot any longer- not out my sailing website yet-
  18. We tried the bionic bar on the Quantum. What a gimmick! Also the drinks were horrible and served in a small paper cup- went on the Harmony and wouldn't try it again- what a waste that is.
  19. I called for our January Cruise and was advised it isn't being offered yet- Perhaps it will prior to our cruise- as it is cheaper then purchasing on board.
  20. But the corridor is public. People walking by staring at you. Next door people hear you conversations even when talking in a normal voice. Very poorly designed
  21. Most important is I hope your wife does well and responds to the treatment. Unfortunately, as some said you need travel insurance. The cruise line is a for profit business
  22. Under what category? It wasn't under dining, internet, shore x's, beverage, etc.
  23. I wouldn't really care the average age as my DH and I typically enjoy our own company. We work during the year, have great family and friends at home- so we aren't looking to make any great friendships on board. Have enjoyed taking to many people of all ages and from a variety of states and countries. Enjoy your cruise.
