  1. We were on the Icon of the Seas in March.  They charged us an addition $15 pp for dining a Izumi.  Never happened on any other Oasis class ship.  To make matters worse- I must have gotten food poisoning as a few hours after we left- I got sick.  I will remove Izumi from my list of specialty restaurants to dine in.  I ate a combo- steak and seafood- my DH was ok- he only at steak.

Thank you for your response, TeeRick.

We'll be in a CLS and it looks like the Suite Sun Deck is close by.😆

The suite sun deck is on the opposite side of the ship.  We walk outside across the deck then go up one flight of steps to enter the suite sun deck.  The suite lounge and coastal kitchen are on deck 17 near the CLS.

  3. While you might save a little- you might have to choose from the leftovers, not necessarily best cabins/locations.  If you don't care- it is a gamble- I personally am not a gambler- however, I have  placed move up bids to large suites.  I have won a couple of times.  But the chance of getting a bad location for a celebrity suite and above really isn't an issue.

Good luck to you.  Enjoy your cruise.

  4. Have done many times.  The breakaway Haven has a small pool and restaurant for Haven guests.  We enjoyed it- but some problems- young kids hijacked the pool and hot tub. It became noisy and we couldn't use  The Suites were small.  The food ok- but not great.  If you left the haven to go to specialty restaurants or any shows, it was very crowded- the main ship pool was like steerage.  I have been in CLS on all of the Oasis class ships and love the suite lounge and deck.  Some ships suite  decks are better then others.  If you want a "change", I highly recommend the E class ships on Celebrity- suite class.

  5. We typically take the photo package and will again on Symphony this summer as we are sailing with a grandchild and son and his spouse.  We will take the 100 pics and we get electronically and download at home.  The package is good for all guests in stateroom .  However since our son and his family are in another stateroom, we will purchase for their stateroom.  The reason is that one person from the paid stateroom must be in the picture.  We want to take pics with our grandchild and with our son and spouse- so this works as we might take pics with our granddaughter only.  Since our last cruise, we now have to pay for restaurant pics as they aren't included in the package. Ridiculous, another money grab.  What is included, unless it changes, are any pics taken in the evening at various photo sites, boarding pics, and pics taken when you leave the ship at each port.  On our last cruise, they took a photo and the same photo was used for multiple backgrounds. They also included photos when photographers wandered around the ship or a coco Cay.  Who knows if those are no longer included.

Royal  previously had an "unlimited" photo package- but we will now take 100 and want the digital versions.

I said similar and is a reference for the OP.

My experience is that they are very different- we really love the Oasis class ship, Freedom class ships were very good- but IMO Adventure of the Seas a big disappointment- so Ithe only similarity was they are royal.  Any choice the OP makes will be a big upgrade from the Adventure.

Indy is very similar to Adventure. Read some Symphony reviews for info.

Different class then Adventure.  Freedom Class is the Independence of the Seas along with Liberty of the Seas and Independence.  Adventure older less features- we didn't like it  If I were deciding upon the Symphony vs. the Independence  I would choose the Symphony of the Seas- more to do on the ship- especially for multigenerational families. Room to spread around- crowds similar on all ships- but people on the Oasis Class spread out more for various activities.  Great children's activities.    Enjoy your cruise.

  8. We loved the Apex.  Only negatives was not enough shade on suite sun deck-  Service was perfect.  Sky suite well designed.  We were previously on the Edge and the sky suites had a useless rocking chair which since has been removed from other edge class ships.  Enjoyed the martini bar.  Our favorite speciality restaurant was Eden- excellent food a service.  Others were good also.  We enjoyed the suite lounge and luminae.

We will sail on the beyond  next year and are looking foward to it.

  9. We bring heavy duty magnetic hooks for many items.  Not sure which cabin you have- but we always manage- we do not bring snacks.  Some people do bring an over the door thingie-

We also leave items we might not use, or extra clothes in the suite case under the bed until we need them.  I hate a cluttered cabin and do not leave items hanging or thrown around.

Winning RU has little to do with how someone booked their initial cabin. Winning is all about inventory, size of bid and some other factors.

I has won a bid on the adventure of the seas almost two years ago.  Got a junior suite.  It was a dump.  So badly in need of a redo.  However maybe other junior suites were in poor condition.

@Cruise a holic I‘ll definitely be keeping an eye on prices. We may be going to Coco Cay in Nov, just traveling as a couple, in which case I definitely would like to try Coco Beach Club…for a decent price!

@rrraydon great deal for you! What were the other prices like?

We paid around $59 pp for access to the hideaway and around $99 for the beach club pp.  Will be sailing to coco cay again in august.  However we have a 3 year old with our family.  We cannot go to the hideaway as itvis adults only
