  1. Hi, we just returned from 2 weeks on the Sky. Manfredi's, in my opinion is hands down the best specialty restaurant, with attentive friendly waiters. Food consistently fabulous. We tried the Chef's kitchen twice, as you know it is a "fixed menu" and the menu changes every 2-3 nts. I believe, we tried both the Asian menu and the Indian food menu. In both cases, they will definitely push the premium wine pkg. which was cheap at $25, one tasting to accompany each dish. It is indeed a different experience, but I found the waiters to be robotic, they each have their descriptions to accompany each dish. Found the service to be inconsistent and formal, plus tiny portions of food which did not appeal to our table at all. My son and daughter in law accompanied us, they are definite foodies and they were not impressed, as were many of the other passengers we spoke with. If you want a fun birthday, I would definitely do either The Restaurant (which is fabulous) or Manifredi's. We loved our experience on the Viking Sky otherwise.
  2. Any recommendations of sim cards for traveling to Spain/Italy and England on a Viking ocean cruise.
  3. We never travel without insurance. Never any guarantees. I have found doing my own insurance through travel guard is for the most part a little cheaper. Totally depends. But recommend you compare travel guard and CSA, easy to do online.
  4. Just off Navigator/Oct. 4-11, Western C., not only were we able to visit Diamond Lounge between 4:30 - 7:30, we could also frequent any bar on ship for cocktails as well during these hours. We were not limited to number of drinks!! There was a flyer in our cabin - with a card attached which explains the spirits offered.
  5. Not good news, I already have a slight cough. I will bring my usual anti-bacterial spray for the entire cabin!!
  6. I plan to do same thing for family members on upcoming cruise. I guess better to wait till onboard. By the way, I was born and raised in St. John's - however have been gone quite a while, now living in Atlanta. I go back occasionally and still have family in Nova Scotia. Can never get the Newfie out of us. Thank goodness for that!! Enjoy your cruise!!
  7. We are Jeff and Pat from Atlanta and we too are on this sailing. Always look forward to being waited on for dinner, so I too wait to see the comments on the various food venues.
  8. I've read where Diamonds and up will receive 3 free alcoholic beverage coupons loaded onto Sea Pass Card so that we will have option of drinking at any bar on board with these coupons. Understanding this is to alleviate some of the crowding at the Diamond Lounge. However, if we use the coupons, we can still go to Diamond lounge, is this correct?? We still have to adhere to the time frame even when using the coupons??? How do we know the coupons are loaded onto our sea pass cards?? This will be first sailing with Diamond perks- sailing on Navigator Oct. 4, and family cruise on Liberty on Dec. 20. Have never been on either ship, but love Freedom.
  9. I've been having many problems as well. Had to finally call to reserve and pay for dining reservations at Portofinos. Upon viewing cc statement, some additional charges are showing up. Guess I'll have to call again. This is totally unacceptable for a company this large. Please RCCL, fix this problem!!!!
  10. My family will be sailing on Dec. 20 out of Galveston on Liberty. Have booked 11 of us for Portofino's for Christmas evening. Would like any comments on food!! Also has anyone any knowledge of JS cabin 1372 on Deck 10, or cabin 8412 on Deck 8 aft???
  11. Hubby and I going on Eurodam in Oct. - needed a hotel in NYC -had a quote of $609/nt for Algonquin - saw your post and followed your directions/filed the claim and got a new quote of $280/nt for Algonquin - understand that is pricey but still decent for October. I will keep checking.
  12. First time on these boards. Has anyone ever used Easy Express shuttle from Fll to Port of Miami - we are going on Freedom on June 1 - was quoted $99 total /each way for family of 5 children and 3 adults, this seems quite reasonable - wondering if these people are legit. Would appreciate any feedback.
