  1. Mine responded by email an hour ago. Impressive.
  2. Well I ended up doing it myself and booked a Neptune suite. 4211 on the Beethoven deck. It has staterooms above and the dining room room underneath. An aft corner balcony which I really wanted for an Alaskan cruise. By booking on Hal’s website i was able to apply 175 per person credit from the cruise canceled by Covid. Paid 7,408 after the cruise credits were applied. I can handle this with installments
  3. Thank you. I got impatient and went ahead and booked a Neptune suite. I can handle this with installments.
  4. I’ve been trying to get started with the process of rebooking my cruise. I’ve left messages and sent an email yesterday with a PPC that was recommended to me by a friend. How long should it take for a phone call to be returned? Is it reasonable to expect them to call back the same day?
  5. I’m not sure I’m supposed to name a travel agent even when complaining about them. But one would not normally encounter it searching for a cruise TA because they specialize in flights.
  6. I took a look at flight ease. For Chicago to Vancouver for the August 6, 2022 departure of the Konigsdam I did not see any great deals. I think flying in the day before on an 9 a.m. flight out of Ohare and then flying back from Vancouver the day after we return is easiest. The later flights out of Vancouver all require connections. If I leave the next day I can get an earlier non-stop flight without stress. Then if United changes the flights i can manage it without to much stress..
  7. That is what I thought too. They are kind of snooty and disingenuous. The guy who owns the company says he stands behind his company's work. They primarily assist with air, and had encouraged me to book a cruise with them when I contacted them to help me get decent flights to Vancouver for a cruise that was canceled due to Covid. So I tried them this time. When I get my money back I am going to email them this topic thread so they can see just how pathetic they are. LOL.
  8. I appreciate the support. Please do not risk getting in trouble on my behalf. I know that I can do this with research on cruise critic and using the deck plans. A third issue is that I was informed that I could not use cruise air because I was flying in a day early. The TA stated I would have to pay for a hotel package with the air fare. IIRC this is not the case. The issue with cruise air is not always having the best flight choices.
  9. They have already been fired. I need to have more confidence in my abilities. And everyone on here gives better information anyway.
  10. Thank you, Cruise Suzy. As soon as I get my money back from my travel agent I will be booking directly with Holland America. I think I am done with TA's permanently.
  11. I am considering booking a neptune suite the Konigsdam. The price difference between the Signature suite and the Neptune suite on my date of cruising was small enough to get me to consider this category. Thank you
  12. I just had an unpleasant experience with a travel agency. I had paid the deposit, and then mentioned that I would like to make two or three payments to spread out the cost over 3 or 4 payments for a cruse costing approximately 7,600 dollars. The TA told me they could not do this. I have asked them to cancel the booking and refund their travel agent fee. I was rather annoyed because I have done this on several of my previous cruises that I booked through a different TA. that I discovered on cruise critic. Is it a correct assumption that Holland America would allow me to make several payments between deposit and final payment? Thank you
  13. That’s an interesting location. Wouldn’t those balconies be more exposed to wind?
  14. If one books this excursion is it still possible to do excursions in Juneau? Thank you.
  15. I appreciate the responses. I looked at the deck plans and from my interpretation all of the signature suites are in a good location as far as noise. Any one of those cAbins would be marvelous.
  16. Just out of curiosity how much more would might I be asked to pay if an up sell became available? another question: What does “no host minibar” mean? I’m assuming that’s a refrigerator for drinks, etc. I’m assuming if I take something out of there there’s a charge.
  17. I assumed it would be unlikely. There’s a huge difference in size and amenities in the the two room types.
  18. I just booked one of these on the Konigsdam and see that there are 14 signature suites and 45 Neptune suites. When I researched I looked for the minimum cabin I would be happy with and a signature suite is perfect. That being said, I was curious how often a signature guarantee resulted in an upgrade. ps. I will not be mad if I don’t get upgraded. It looks like all the signature suites are safely between floors with cabins. would it be advisable to put a note not to upgrade if it’s possible to get a Neptune suite underneath the lido deck? thank you for your patience. I’m still a bit of a rookie with cruising. This would be my 7th iirc.
  19. Greetings, I appreciate your help. I booked it today and went with the guarantee rate. I also took the promotion that included drinks, an excursion, and a specialty restaurant. In doing the math we would be even after the specialty restaurant and excursion. While not alcohol drinkers I think we would both enjoy other drinks. This is my second go at Holland America on the Konigsdam to Alaska. The first was canceled because of Covid.
  20. You just sold me in the signature suite. I was looking at noordam. Now decided on the konigsdam to avoid long flight from anchorage.
  21. This was very helpful. The two sinks is a selling point for us. And extra space is beneficial too.
  22. I am planing a cruise on the Noordam . I have settled on trying to book an aft balcony cabin for a cruise to Alaska. I am amazed that these cabins have an actual tub in them. Is the tub also the shower like in a hotel room? Or is the shower and tub separate? I looked at a couple of diagrams and could not figure it out. I have looked at the signature suites, it and it seems to me the main thing you get is a little more space and a choice of pillows. Am I missing details with this? If a signature suite is significantly better than a balcony cabin, then I will consider the upgrade.
  23. I think the glacier bay is explanation is it. I was comparing celebrity to holland America. Glacier bay is not listed in the itinerary nor is college ford. It does go by Hubbard glacier. this was helpful in that I wanted to see glacier bay.
