  1. Hi and welcome. I hear ya about local ports! We take the train in from NJ and we'll be home by probably 9am! Love that. CC does not seem to coordinate these events anymore. I have heard that some on the FB page arrange group get-togethers; I went to one last year that someone from FB posted on CC roll call so that's how I knew about it. Does NCL still do them? I know they did pre-covid (and I've hosted too) but have only been on one NCL since then (last April) and we didn't have meet n greet on that one (Gem). I think a cabin crawl would be cool on this one if we get a couple people to show their cabins!
  2. Oh does that mean we'll be hearing the door open and close while the steward is in that closet early in the morning? Also, these are all connecting cabins; hopefully it's quiet. We had connecting cabin on Beyond in Feb and heard nothing from next door.
  3. Thanks, everyone! Helpful. Appreciate all your responses.
  4. I can get non-stops to and from both LAX and SNA. 🙂 No non-stops to or from Long Beach. They seem to be almost equidistant. Someone told me always best to head AWAY from LAX, so that's why I checked out SNA and was happy to see non-stops! But. . . is it easier, quicker, etc., or just go with LAX.
  5. We'd like to check out the LA area a day or 2 before the cruise departs. So for that it seems we should fly into LAX,but after the cruise. . is SNA better just because it is a smaller airport? or do LAX round trip? Thanks in advance. If you're ever in the northeast cruising from NY or NJ--I will return the favor! 😁
  6. Haven't had a bad cruise yet--on ANY of the major lines.
  7. Yikes. Going on it in the fall, so I guess I'll adjust my expectations (after being on Beyond in Feb!). So does this mean that top deck is still a sundeck and they have not blocked it off for suite guests only? Like the Reflection had last year?
  8. ok, thanks. We've had aft facing on a few Caribbean cruises and it was way too hot with no breeze. Occasional soot depending on the wind (or worse, lack of wind as that's when the stern gets the soot). Love wake view!
  9. Hi. So that cabin is open on the cruise we're looking at. . . why was the balcony wider. . . is this ADA cabin? I notice ones above are also wider. Just wondering why before we book! Thanks in advance.
  10. HI everyone! In looking at photos of the stern, some of these SVs are wider than others. They are not marked as ADA cabins. Has anyone stayed in one of these and are they a standard cabin with just a wider balcony for whatever reason? (We do not want to book ADA as others may need these). Specifically decks 6-8 we're looking at. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi all. So what time has actual boarding time started at the Red Hook port?
  12. Wait, there is a charge for some shows? I remember Norwegian charged for "Choir of Man" and I think some other murder mystery from years back. Other than that, no Celebrity, Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean or Virgin Voyages show had a charge for entertainment that I can recall.
  13. Sounds about right. For the return though, expect it to be much more. Still, it's cheaper than a car service or parking there.
  14. TA says she can't fix account issues; just reservation issues. Very frustrating that no one at MSC helps. Call and they direct you to emails that don't get answered. Not even sailed with them yet and already annoyed.
  15. Thanks, everyone. Not going to bother with XL.
  16. The hammock is one of the best features!
  17. Is this were the outdoor tented shops used to be? Inside the fenced part of the cruise port? If you live across the street, we watched your place be built over the years; we have cruised almost annually to Saint John for at least 10 years--probably 12! 🙂 I look forward to a lobster roll!
  18. ah ok. Yes I remember the bathroom on Scarlet lady--smallest bathroom I've ever had on any cruise line/ship! Thanks.
  19. So these are both options on a cruise we're considering. Do you really notice the cabin space difference in the XL?
  20. Where is everyone. . . prob on FB? A cabin crawl would be nice if we get enough people.
  21. Looking forward to some videos and pics after the ship is actually sailing. . .
  22. ok, thanks both. I emailed that address last week and have heard nothing. I'll give it a week or two and then email again. 🙂
  23. Pretty sure DR took over as CEO of NCL when Kevin Sheehan left. (not sure with or w/o the "H" matters here, but ok) And in my opinion, of course! 😃 (and other cruisers as well if you go back to when he took over in 2015). And yes, things I did not like as a cruise consumer. e.g. NCL probably remains the only cruise line to increase DSC TWO times in one year. Other things too.
  24. Thanks to everyone for all the responses (even though I'm not the OP). Great info. I've cruised a lot on various lines, and want to check out MSC for myself--especially their private island. 😃
  25. HI all. So I booked my first MSC cruise (though not first ever cruise) and got my level-match and reservation #s. Then I went on to set up an account. Only realized I misspelled my last name once I logged into the account I created. Cannot change the name (off by one letter). So I cannot link reservation or Voyagers # to the account since the names are not the same. Called # on website, then # website person told me to call (held 2 hours and never got a human). Concierge called after that welcoming me to MSC, and he could not help with the name fix but sent me back to the # on the website. He also told me I don't really need an account because I can do check-in through the ressie #. Well wouldn't it be a good idea to have an account anyway? I do on all the other lines; I can check points balance, loyalty tier, etc. I emailed MSC as well ( a week+ ago). At this point I give up! Suggestions?
