  1. Certainly not as good as it used to be!
  2. As a previous passenger on Navigator it is sad to hear that this is similar to my recent experience on Brilliance, I think I’ll start exploring other cruise lines, sorry Royal Caribbean but I think it’s time I moved on to a line who provides a better experience.
  3. Just returned from an Avalon cruise, Prague to Bucharest. Never again will I let Avalon book the flights. We flew from Manchester to Prague via Frankfurt, only had an hour to catch the connecting flight, whilst we just made it our cases did not so we had a delay in getting our luggage. The trip didn’t start well, we had to leave for the airport at 2am so no sleep and a very, very tied start to our trip. Next time I’ll book my own flights, and hotels and fly direct.
  4. I have done two cruises with Avalon and would never let them organise a flight again. They have an aversion to direct flights and snobbery stops them from using the easiest direct route. We were flown from Manchester, England to Prague, Czech Republic but had to go via Frankfurt. We had to leave for the airport at 2am, so no sleep the previous day, an hours gap in Frankfurt where our luggage was delayed and so a wait for our cases. We were not impressed, the first cruise was similar, this time a stopover in Amsterdam.
  5. I’ve sailed with Avalon from Amsterdam to Bucharest, visited many, many churches and cathedrals and I have never had an issue with wearing shorts nor have I ever been advised not to wear shorts.
  6. Of course there would be a problem! How can you know someone doesn’t want to use it when you are there?
  7. Oh dear, that’s not good news, don’t think I’ll be sailing on the Edge then. :(
  8. To be honest I’m not very impressed on what I’ve seen, I’ll wait to see more reveals but based on what I’ve seem I won’t be rushing to book.
  9. Thanks for the replies, yes we’ve tried other sites but no joy. It is very frustrating, Avalon say all their UK passengers have the same problem. It’s not a great impression.
  10. We are having real problems booking optional excursions on our upcoming Avalon cruise. This appears to only be affecting UK passengers, our friends in Australia have been able to book their trips. We’ve spoken to our TA and Avalon direct but they all seem unable to resolve the problem on their website. Must say it is starting to sour my view of Avalon, shame after such a great cruise two years ago. Have any UK passengers been able to book excursions via the Avalon website?

  12. We’re about to embark on our second Avalon cruise and although we are registered on the UK site the link to to excursions does not work, we just get an error message. After reading the above post it seems that this is a long standing problem. Does anyone know a way around this? We’ve contacted our TA and Avalon but don’t have any positive response yet.
