  1. I am booked on the Triumph for July 2019 and when I called Carnival to ask why I could not access my booking, she said "Hmm, it says you are booked for the Carnival Sunrise...but we don't have a ship named the Sunrise!" After being on hold for about 20 minutes, she came back and said that they were "updating the system" and it should be completed by EOD today, by Thursday at the latest. So it sounds like the name will be changed to the Sunrise. Also, I did tell them that I am disappointed because I had family members who wanted to book the same itinerary and take advantage of the low deposit. After being on hold again, she asked me for their names and said if the system is not updated by EOD today (which is when the sale ends), they will still let them get the low deposit sale. She asked for their names (which I gave) and when they call to make the booking, to refer to my booking number (which is where the notes are).
  2. This is so interesting to me and now I am able to connect the dots. I am booked on the Triumph for July 2019 and when I tried to show some friends the itinerary, I was not able to locate it online. When I tried to access my reservation, it said that the information I selected is not accurate. I called Carnival and when the lady I spoke to looked at my reservation, she said that I was set to sail on the Carnival SUNRISE! I was very confused! After being on hold for about 20 minutes, she came back and said that they are making "updates" to the system which is why I cannot access the reservation. It should be available by EOD today. And when I asked about the name Sunrise, she said that she thinks it is a "holding name" until the systems are updated. NOW IT MAKES SENSE!!!!
  3. I am going to Nassau in March with 3 teenagers and would like to show them that Nassau is more than just Atlantis. This tour sounds great. Do you mind posting a link to the map Scubagirl?
  4. OMG 10 COURSES!?!?!?!? I think you would have had to roll me out like the Blueberry girl from Willy Wonka, after 10 courses!!! No wonder the women wore those corsets lol!
  5. Your pictures are AMAZING!!! I have a Nikon SLR that I have been playing with so hopefully I can take pictures half as good as yours when we go on our cruise in 2 months. I enjoyed all of them but there was one that I looked thought you photoshopped. Picture#5 on post#93....at first glance, I thought you photoshopped a shark to the right side of the lake! When I looked back, I realized it was a glacier! Had myself a good laugh! Can't wait to keep reading about the trip and the rest of your pictures!
  6. MOSQUITOES?!?!?!??!?! I didn't even think of that! We are going to Alaska in September for the first time. Whenever we go to the caribbean, I always put bug spray on because those mosquitoes absolutely LOVE me! One time I forgot to put it on and the next day, you could play connect the dots on my legs and arms! Thank you for the heads up!
  7. Thank you for all the options!! My hubby specifically said to me, "I want to see all the wild animals in Alaska, and then find out how they taste!" As I mentioned, he is the adventurous one! I made a list of all these items and will be keeping an eye out for all these things!! Does anyone know if there is any liquor/beer that can only be found in Alaska?? He would REALLY enjoy that!
  8. We are going on our first Alaskan cruise in September going to Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria. My husband (not me) is an adventurous eater/drinker and loves trying local foods where ever we go. Anyone have any suggestions about restaurants or bars we should not miss? Any information would be great! Thanks!
  9. My Hubby and I are going on our first Alaskan cruise and everyone was telling us we "need" a balcony...but the balcony room was almost twice as much as an interior. When we go to the caribbean, we usually get guaranteed rooms so if we get upgraded, great...if not, oh well, we are still on a cruise. After reviewing all the shore excursions we are interested in, we decided we would spend the money saved from getting a balcony on the shore excursions. They are quiet expensive and figured 20 years from now, we would remember something we did and not what type of room (and the limited view) we had. But that is just IMHO.
  10. Does Seattle offer a set cab rate from the airport to the port? I know in Miami they do this and in the past, it came out cheaper to take the free shuttle from the hotel back to the airport, then take a cab from there. We are coming in one day before our cruise, so we are not doing any sightseeing in Seattle until after the cruise.
  11. Hopefully one of you can help me. I love Carnival...so much so that I just booked my "not tech savy" parents on a European Carnival cruise for October. I have been trying to show them the shore excursions online but after the 3rd or 4th page, my computer freezes and I have to reboot. I even tried on my work computer and the site freezes. Do you know if there is a PDF version of the shore excurions that I can just print out and give to them??? NCL and RCCL both have this option but I do not see it on Carnival's page.
  12. Love this thread!!!! Read about alot of stuff I did as a rookie myself. I think one big mistake I did was book all my shore excursions through the cruise company. I thought I "had" to! Another was not bringing a watch with me. I had to keep asking locals what time it was, and making sure I added or subtracted hours based on "ship time." I spent the whole time being paranoid the ship would leave us!
  13. That is hillarious!!! Thank you for the warning. I am taking my nieces (15, 10) and nephew (7) on a cruise and will put my number down instead of their mother's when registering them for anything. Don't want any "surprises" to show up on my account..."Hey, we booked us a 10-day balcony super suite cruise for the whole entire family, your treat!!" LoL!

I completely agree, and I would be one of those people. It really depends on what you are looking for when you go to a port. I, personally, am not a gambler and could care less about casinos. I would want to go to learn about the history and view the sites, especially because it has been "fobidden" for americans for so many years.
