  1. I know that several years ago, water fitness classes were hosted by an independent travel company, and led by private instructors (not Royal staff.) In such cases, these classes were not open to all guests, only to those who booked their cabins through them.

  2. I've never noticed anything unusual about the butter, but I do know I love the pumpkin seed rolls! So much, that I usually have three each night at dinner, and after the first night, the bread basket is always full of pumpkin seed rolls, and no other bread. 🙂

Quantum arrives in Hawaii and disembark 10/14/24.  The next scheduled cruise is 11/19/24 from Singapore to Australia.  It would appear Quantum is going into drydock in Singapore, arriving via a nonrevenue cruise.  Meaning the October cruise to  Hawaii is the last cruise before the drydock, never a good cruise to book for a variety of reasons.

This is great info, thank you. Can you elaborate a bit more about why it's not good to be on a cruise before drydock? We did not realize this. It didn't occur to us to wonder where the ship was going after our sailing, or why. We just like the itinerary.

It is my happy place and in my blood.  My

great grandfather and father (both Greek) were both ship captains.  My mother was a singer on a cruise ship when she met my father (he was a Staff Captain at that time) and I sort of followed in their footsteps.  There’s nothing like the sea; so peaceful and powerful.

What a great story! Look forward to following along. I loved my Summit to Bermuda sailing last summer!

  5. Someone in our roll call group on a different social media site, is speculating that our Oct 1, 2024 Quantum sailing will get canceled. It is still showing as an upcoming reservation in my cruises, as well as being offered for sale on Royal's website. This itinerary is from Vancouver to Hawaii and we are planning to stay in Hawaii for the week following the cruise. In my many years of cruising, D+ with Royal, I've yet to experience one of my reservations being canceled. So, this has me curious. What reasons would a sailing be canceled, and how far in advance would you be notified? And do they offer any perks for the inconvenience?

    Any insight please?

Way too much overthinking and judgment in this thread, IMO (shocking for CC, I know). If you want to give a non-cash gift along with your cash tip, go for it.

The recipient may prefer cash, may be thrilled with the gift, may be allergic to it, who knows? It's a nice gesture regardless. If it's something they don't want or can't have, surely they have a friend onboard who will enjoy it.

If you prefer to just give cash like most do, then do that.

The OP's question was "is it OK to give candy along with the cash?"

The answer is yes, it is OK to do so.

Totally agree. I love how these threads get so far off track.

CC is where I go for my reading entertainment. 🤣

  7. Good question. I have only been on one Celebrity cruise so far, the Summit, and I probably saw less than a dozen kids the entire time. However.... I'm following your logic. On Royal's Vision of the Seas over Easter break, the ship was full of families / kids. Since the Vision doesn't have all the fun, kid friendly activities that the mega ships have, they made their own fun and games. Running up and down the stairs, running through the lounges, playing tag, throwing balls across the centrum. These were mostly young teens, pre-teens. I came to the conclusion that maybe there wasn't enough entertainment on sea days to keep their interest.
