Of low rather than no alcohol beer Brooklyn Special Effects is fantastic.  Its 0.5% and more a very pale ale rather than a lager.  I find the 0.0% lagers can taste soapy.

Some of the guys I know who drink Guinness Zero have cottoned on a can isn't quite a pint so they ask for a proper Guinness top up to improve the flavour and get their pint!

There are two sizes of Guiness 0, one is less than a pint 500ml, the other is 538ml or a pint with a small head😂

  2. Where are you getting you World Club Member from? Mine starts with CURC then 5 digits W on my Cunard Issued World Club Card, it's wrong! Drop the CU if that is what you are entering and it should work.

  3. Om QE a year ago and my wife and I also do not do the main dining room thing and ate every night in the Lido. I would be surprised if it has changed much, there is a choice of hot food as well as salad, and just outside of the Lido where the Pizza bar is, one night they did Singapore Noodles with either beef, chicken or salmon, very nice. Our dinning times in the evening was about 8:00pm.

  4. Hi, booked on QM2 cruise next April and have done the Rome trip a couple of times so we are considering staying in Civitavecchia. We've looked at the Cunard tours section of the cruise and there is very little info on this city. Anyone spent the day in this port could advise please?

Changing cabins is an inconvenience.  We did it in July 2024.  You have to pack your suitcases each time, be out of your room at 8:00 AM.  You will have to go to the Pursers desk to get the new key each morning.  You are definitely owed some compensation for that.  Especially since this appears to be the travel agency's fault.

We had to change cabins on a cruise a few years ago and only had to pack our "smalls" underwear, socks etc. the hanging items in the wardrobe was transferred to the cabin on the hangers, certainly worth a check when you get on board.

  6. Interesting thread, I'm getting......no, I am old and at present only have controlled hypertension so always like reading these threads for great information. My take on UK Insurance, I am insured through my bank for travel insurance amongst other things, but they have dropped UK Insurance, wonder if it's for the reasons you state

  7. I book through a TA and always always get the booking form from Cunard sent to me with all amounts of monies paid deposits etc with a receipt from the TA. I would seriously be looking at your TA to see what they have done with your money.

Good luck if you choose the wait list

Having made your choice to not dress formally did you still expect to have full access to all parts of the ship?

As I see it, it is not so much what someone is wearing, but whether or not a person dressed casually should reasonably expect to be able to go into all of the public areas on the ship.

A definite no and at no time did I ever hint that

So I guess if you chose not to wear a shirt or shoes indoors on a cruise ship or airplane or restaurant, it's all  YOU... your choice, too.  You could, I suppose, say it's your choice not to go through a scanner to embark. Or attend a boat drill.

It is not a choice when a venue has a stated dress code and you purchase access to said venue.  Again, no one is forced to go on Cunard or any cruise line but by doing so, it is about joining what is, by definition, a community.  It's not all about YOU. "MY" vacation is staying at home... when you chose to share it with others, others matter.

That sounds a bit like following like sheep, I have never stated that it is ok for me to go into certain areas on the ship on formal nights as it is also not allowed to attend the grills dining rooms. Formal nights I have dined in the Red Lion as well as the Lido not on the same night of course. If I choose not to dress formally that is my choice, it is then also the choice of Cunard not to allow me into certain areas on those formal nights with which I am fine.

I think your first paragraph is just a little over the top as on a formal night I would alway have my dickie bow on😂

Really? Is this some new "right" or "law".... last time I looked going on a cruise was a choice not a right and complying with the standards on board is an obligation that comes with the passage contract.

The choice is for the individual not the cruise line, I have been on more that 50 cruises and there is always always someone on board that chooses not to dress formally as I have stated I have on more than one cruise. Next time you are on a cruise check out how many do not want to dress up, you will be surprised by the number, it is not an obligation it is a choice.

  11. All cruise lines must accept passenger who, for whatever reason, do not wear formal wear on formal nights. I always dressed formally when required, but my last couple of cruises I couldn't be bothered, One was on Cunard QE where we ate every night in the Lido self service restaurant and the other was on a P & O cruise where we did the same thing. However on Cunard I did wear a jacket, no tie, and we did go into the ballroom with no one objecting. On P & O where they are not so strict I did not wear a jacket and on one night was refused entry to one of the bars. So yes, quite rightly as the OP says all cruise lines differ.

I think the point has been well made now, we are separated by our common language and references to high tea, suspenders and pants may well prove controversial.

    Let's move on please 🙏

And discuss whether the cream or jam is applied to the scone first 😂

  15. Cruised on her in February this year and had one small whiff of a not nice smell, for a brief second or two but can't remember where I was on the ship, I would hazard a guess on the promenade deck somewhere though.

  16. As the title, I have done 17 or so cruises on Cunard over the years but not been on since just after covid. A few questions I could do with some help on, internet access used to be so many hour depending on your loyalty level, I see now this is done on a daily level. Can you have some days on and some off or does it have to be continuous, we are diamond level so get a good chunk to spend on the internet. We prefer to dine in the Lido at night, is this still split into different restaurants at night.

    Any advice will be appreciated.
