Cpt Kirk and his wife and kids were on the Beyond last week.

He and his family were all over the ship meeting and talking with people each night. He attends all shows. He is very personable. We were at a Zenith lunch. Whether you believe him or not he said all the Captains were waiting to hear who would get the assignment.

Would you expect him to say anything different?

OK that makes a lot of sense. I guess he goes by the nickname Kirk?

BTW,did you understand the above reference about being born in Iowa?

Yes.   Riverside Iowa.  Birthplace of the "real" Captain Kirk.

We were on the disabled Greek cruise due to an electrical fire. Anyone have advice on how we should request our airfare back?

My advice is to read your cruise and insurance policy.  If you made your flight, then you  probably don't have much of a case.

Thanks, the noise level of conversation is something I hadn't considered.  Though when we cruised to Alaska last year with a party of ten, we tended not to shout across the table too much, conversing more with those nearest.  I like the idea of rotating around the MDRs - I'll float that to the group and see if they're onboard!  (See how I did that, float and onboard?).

Most individuals at tables of 10+ do not feel they are talking loud.  Oblivious....

I can confirm that my Beyond sailing in September has a Shine the Night party scheduled for the 6th night.  I can even reserve a cabana for it.  From the Celebrity Instagram page:

Shine the Night aboard Celebrity . . . —where the stars are out and so are you. Get ready for live music, light shows, and a DJ that'll keep you dancing all night long.

It was also held on the 6th night on Ascent and Apex.  There were few who had shiny clothing.  The Activities Team passed out these light sticks to help with the festivities.  A nice time  by the pool.

Can anyone let me know if LUGGAGE VALET is available on the Beyond for flights going home

out of FLL?  If so, can you let me know that cut off time for outgoing flights.  Thank you.

Luggage Valet is available for ships  docking in Port Everglades.  Not  Miami.

No. I usually book way too far in advance for that. It's just nice to know sometimes. Another fun thing to look forward to in many cases.

That is the fun way to cruise. I agree that it can be  nice to know.

I remember the days when some cruisers wanted to sail with a certain captain.  Thank goodness those days are over.    I just want to have a good time.

There was a large long table on Apex in Tuscan that was empty every night (at least earlier in the evening) all last week.  I would have to try to recall how many seats.

There was a table for 12 in Normandie.  It was occupied and the diners tended to talk over each other from one end of the table to the other.  They acted as if they were the only ones in the MDR.  We were moved to around the corner and that helped.

In Blu, there were 2 parties of 10 on the first night.  They were seated in the middle of the restaurant.  The next evening both parties were moved to the rear as even the staff commented on how loud they were.  (They had asked the hostess if they could have a table for 20).

  9. You really do not need luggage tags as the Porters will be happy to tag them as long as you show proof of sailing with your room number.  Our bags  have arrived to our room.

Your onboard booking was a deposited booking, your separate courtesy hold was an undeposited booking.

I believe you are correct.  These are 2 different reservations with different rules.  On an onboard deposited booking, you can receive price adjustments,   Then refundable and non-refundable issues may also come in effect.

I wouldn't think so either, but from what I read it's a window washing platform. Great news about swapping out the drinks.

Swapping out the bottle of sparkling for even a white or red wine was not allowed on our last cruise.  Surprise someone with a gift of bubbly.

Hi - I've seen conflicting information on whether Concierge level rooms get access to bottled water when disembarking the ship for port days. Can someone clarify?  Also, I understand the room comes with a bottle of sparkling wine on the first day. Is it possible to request that be changed out for some sodas instead? We're not wine drinkers. Thanks.

No bottled water  when disembarking the ship unless you have a beverage package.  You could get a couple of free bottles in your room upon arrival but none after that.

Thanks for all the helpful information. We will do one of the ships excursions. What is the difference between the 2 excursions? “Trunk Bay beach and snorkel” “St John beach break”. It seems like one includes snorkel gear and one doesn’t. Otherwise they seem the same.

I believe you are correct.  One includes the rental of the equipment.   You take the same ferry ride and transfers to/from  Trunk Bay Beach.

We usually do independent excursions while on our cruises. Sailing on the Beyond in October and would love to go to St John. We are in port from 11-7 so I think we have time to get the ferry in Red Hook and do it on our own but wondering if it would just be easier to do it through the ship. Most of the ship excursions are only 4 hours.
    thanks for any advice.

We have done the excursion through the ship to St. John.  Celebrity had chartered a ferry that took us to and from St. John.  Worked out very well for us. We were escorted from the ship with a short walk to the ferry.   The boat had a narrator as well.  I recommend the service as we have done this several times over the years.

Sailing now and some of the cast blew me away! Is there any way to find a list of names or Instagram profiles?

On some cruises, there will be photos of cast members with first names and country posted in the Theater while you are awaiting the performance.  You should also consider taking a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Theater.

No limits.  For three checked bags, I would give the luggage handler $15.  You will have plenty of room to put luggage under the bed in your cabin/suite.  Enjoy your cruise.  For things like underwear, socks,  pj's cheap tee shirts- you can give to the laundry service- you will get discounts during the cruise for laundry.  For special items, dry cleaning and pressing services are available for a fee.I don't understand how some people believe that they can wear clothes for days- they begin to stink!  We had the unfortunate situation being next too "clean looking" people who had horrible clothes BO.  The fabric picks up and absorbs smells.

    Enjoy your cruises

What is really smelly are those families in a plane returning from a week's vacation at a theme park in Florida.

On our cruises, we smell the moth ball sport jackets.

Definitely not a French restaurant, maybe influenced slightly but that's about it.  Just wish they would update the menu, been the same since it has been opened on the S class ships.

They updated the menu in the Tuscan  Grill and it we did not care for the newer items. Now it looks like Tuscan Grill area may be revamped.     I think they have a winner with Murano.
