  1. Just returned from our trip 8/16-31 and want to thank everyone on this board to make this wonderful trip possible. :) We (DH and I in our mid 30's + 9 yo DD) were on Zaandam northbound. We did the following excursions (Traitor Cove/Misty Fjord combo with Island Wings + Whale watching with Orca + Emerald Lake with Murray Guide) + 8 days independent (Seward-1day, Anchorage-1 day, Fairbanks-2 days, Denali-4 days). Here is a link for our pictures. http://www.pbase.com/dslr18/alaska_08
  2. I was going to book a heli/dogsled excursion with Temsco in Juneau, and I saw this on their website "Due to security, no carry-on bags will be allowed on the helicopters." My husband has a big backpack with all his camera and many lens in it. Will they allow him to bring it ? What about other companies like ERA and Coastal?
  3. Thanks for the information. I just rebooked with your link and canceled my previous reservation. You just saved me $ 255.74 + the $100 visa card. Thanks again.

    Bears Help

According to Island Wings, Anan Creek is too late for August. Traitor's Cove is better for August. We'll be doing a combo tour ( Traitor's Cove/Misty Fjord) with Michelle in mid August.

    Taking Kids on Alaska Cruise

Can you tell me which company you are doing dog sledding (without heli? ) and gold panning with in Skagway? My 9 years old daughter really wants to do these 2 things. Thank you!
  6. Thanks for the link, but I check the website and independent tours are only available in the morning and at 1:30pm. We have and excursion in the morning till 3pm. Independent travelers and visitors on cruise ships that DO NOT sell our tour on board can tour the Klondike Gold Dredge any morning at 9:30am and any afternoon at 1:30pm
  7. My 9 years old daughter really wants to do gold panning. We'll be in Skagway from 7am to 9pm and we've booked the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari excursion from 9:30 am to 3pm already. This tour seems to fit our schedule (4pm to 6:30pm) even though we're only interested in gold panning and not the Salmon bake. Any advice?
  8. We'll be doing the 9am Whale Watching tour with Orca on August 20. After that, we would like to visit the Mendenhell visitor center (maybe do some hikings there) I would like to know if food is available for purchase at the Menndenhell Visitor Center. It would save us time if I can ask Orca to drop us off at the Mendenhell Otherwise, we'll have to eat around the dock then take the bus. Any advice? Thank you!
