Many thanks! My DH has had previous experiences with motion sickness....so the middle of the ship has always worked best for us.

Planning to cruise the Mediterranean 2020, previously enjoyed Neptune Suites, veranda, Lanai, and interior rooms. We would appreciate any experiences that would recommend reserving an aft veranda.

We book our air with HAL, since it has weather delay insurance as part of the purchase price. Makes the anxiety levels more manageable.

We also cruised on this itinerary. We were in 3366 ( a lanai on the port side) . Second on the Rotterdam, love this ship. We had two complaints....the chaise loungers reserved for the lanai pax often required an explanation, ( unlike the loungers on the starboard side that had reserved marked on both ), and the variety of noises at any time, apparently the kitchen was above these rooms. Putting these aside, we thoroughly enjoyed this vacation.

We paid HAL $303.82 for 1 night at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Plantation Hotel. Included in that amount are the transfer costs from airport to hotel to ship and from ship back to airport. They didn't separate the cost of the transfers from the cost of the hotel on the billing statement and we don't know what kind of room we are getting. This will be for March 21, 2017.
We are currently enjoying our room at the Fort Lauderdale Plantation Hotel. We paid HAL $340.00 CDN , which included our transfer to the Hotel from the airport, and the transfer to the cruise tomorrow. This hotel is in wonderful condition; our room is immaculate. We walked over to the Publix this morning, and purchased our wine, water and soft drinks for the cruise. Just returned from visiting the Sawgrass Milll mall.

Just saw my DR yesterday and asked him this very question. He said yellow fever vaccination is sometimes prescribed, but given my age (60's) he didn't recommend it.
This was the same information shared by our travel clinic physician. I also conferred with our very well informed pharmacist, and he also verified that we ( both well over 60) would not be the best candidates for these shots. He also checked the CDC site, information offered confirmed this.

We are prepping for our January departure for the 15 day Panama Canal cruise on board the Rotterdam. Is the vaccine for Yellow Fever necessary??

We were guests at the Hotel New York a few days before we embarked on our Baltic cruise onboard the Rotterdam. A wonderful location, huge room, and a wonderful dining room.

If your DH is a balcony/Neptune dweller, he should have some concerns about booking a Lanai cabin. They are justified.
Not only will the cabin be significantly smaller than the Neptune suites, but it will also be smaller than the outside cabins on lower decks, and even smaller than the insides across the passageway.
In order to create a door, and pathway to it, from the cabin, the bed had to be relocated to a side wall, and the desk moved to the door that leads directly to the deck. That resulted in the desk becoming much, much, smaller, with no drawers. I understand there are drawers under the bed; the steward may store the extra bedding there, though. You can ask them to be emptied so you can use the space. You'll need it.
There are also many fewer closets than a Neptune Suite has.
Then we should hope for an upsell to,a balcony

DH and I are on this cruise, as well! We are booking air and hotel with HAL, since we live in the Near North, Ontario, Canada. We hope,to,arrive early enough on the 12th to use the HOHO. Any reviews of the Lanias, Ruth? We are experimenting with this category. DH is a balcony/Neptune dweller, whereas I am happy with any category, as long as I'm cruising. He has some concerns.

On our last cruise, I attended the wine-tasting session, and made my choices based upon the information shared. Of course, the schedule for this class may not work always. DH and I will be on the Rotterdam in mid-January, and we hope to have him attend, so he can decide which bottles to choose.

DD and I cruised onboard the Eurodam this past February. I booked a Lido cabana, and would recommend it. We were in an inside cabin, and the rental gave us a wonderful setting for our mother-daughter cruise.

The Volendam was our first cruise, and we were on the Inside Passage to Alaska. We were bitten by the "HAL" bug, and cruise as often as possible. Enjoy !

Thanks for the encouragement ! I cruised along the Yangtze last fall, and when we travelled through the locks, we missed the experience, due to my travelling companion being under the weather. We do pan to travel around the ship during the canal portion. But do hope, that we will have a prime location.

We seem to have waited too long , to make this reservation . We did qualify for the Anniversary sale, and it was added to the Expedia promo. We are reserved in lanai 3366, are on a wait list for fixed early dining, but I was able to purchase a clamshell for the day at HMC.

Thanks for the feedback ! Reserving next week , DH and I have not been able to enjoy a trip for a few years, so very much looking forward to this . We normally cruise in a Neptune suite, since DBIL , is a fellow cruiser, but he is recovering from Cancer treatment , and doesn't feel quite up to this. We have friends who cruised the Baltic in a Lanai,,so we always wanted to try it, this is the perfect opportunity .

Are there any preferred locations for a Panama Canal itinerary . Concerned about any obstructed views.

We enjoyed this itinerary in 2014. A party of three Canadian Seniors, we used our regular carry on bags, and the train accommodated this nicely. We left the Statendam in the rain, at a very dark 6:00 AM. Upon arrival at the hospitality centre in Anchorage the cruise line had a large reception area setup to collect our bags( in a very efficient manner ), and from there we wandered around the downtown area. I don't remember anything too unusual in the area, but I might have been too tired to absorb it. The train trip was wonderful, we had wonderful crew to give a running commentary of the scenery, and we had a very brief glimpse of Mt. Denali ( or McKinley, as it was named at the time ). Everything was managed in the usual HAL efficient manner. I envy you ! DH was recalling his flightseeing tour on Mt Denali, just yesterday .

We love this ship. Enjoyed the 12day Baltic cruise onboard, and hope to have another Panama Canal cruise this January, on this vessel. All HAL ships are blessed with a remarkable crew, and so far I have cruised on the Volendam ( Alaska), Eurodam, (Caribbean and New England,/Canada), Statendam (Alaska/Alaska/Yukon land tour). I enjoy any, and all of these ships, but so far my personal favourite is the Rotterdam.

Which type of canal cruise are you taking?
Partial -- where you go through Gatun Locks and back out to the Caribbean? -- take a tour that goes to the Pacific side. We did the train ride.
Full transit? -- there are no tours as you enter on the Caribbean and continue to the Pacific.
We will take the complete transit. So, we can perfectly enjoy the ship, u til,we are in the Pacific side.,then?

DD and I rented a cabana onboard the Eurodam this past February. The Dive-in was one of our luncheon choices....the fries with cheese sauce was my personal favourite.
