Just noticed RCI is offering double points for 2021 cruises.
Is this for new bookings or also for cruises already booked ?
 

I'm not sure if it will be a factor in the US, but for the Singapore sailings, inside and outside view rooms are apparently not allowed (all cabins should have a balcony), so if that were the case, maybe the inside and oceanview rooms will be the first to go? Just speculating here.

So,,, they would bump a suite customer (paying thousands or tens of thousands of dollars per person) to save an inside room (paying tens or hundred dollars per person). Probably not. 
 
Bump a casino guest with a comped room who pays only taxes? Probably not. 
 
It is somewhere between with a magic formula. 
 
Ships have been oversold before and people are offered [generous] compensation for giving up their reservation. 

I think at this point, no one really knows. I would think the "fairest" way would be by booking date. However, my business side says it should be highest cabin rate. I don't think other than those two variables who knows how they decide. Maybe they start and go every other cabin and its the luck of the draw. Who knows at this point. I am just hoping cruising is back sooner than later! 

That question is better answered by the TSA. You may book the air thru Carnival but the TSA still sets the rules for travel thru airports. Unless you have TSA Pre-Check, you will need to take your shoes and excess jewelry (multiple bracelets for example) off when you go thru security. I did see that happen. I wore only rings and a watch and did not have to take any of those off. Anything bigger than a Kindle/E-Reader must be taken out of bags and put in a bin, also anything in pockets must be removed and put in a bin. Belts must be taken off also. I suggest slip off shoes and minimal jewelry. We just flew last month and this is what we experienced.

I’ll start with I’ll be 41 this month so we are about that same age. I also have a daughter who used to exclusively wear Rocks. They are nicely made jeans. They look nice yes, they aren’t cheap, but they are still denim. Denim is considered casual. I didn’t have to tell her on elegant night to follow the dress code and put the jeans up. She put on a dress likely from Ross that may cost 15% of the cost of the jeans. The dress code isn’t by price of the clothing. Same as every job I’ve had has dress code by type of clothing not cost.

 

Now let me say personally I don’t care much about what someone wears to dinner. I would considerably care more about personal hygiene. One cruise our table was by a booth with a couple dressed appropriately but had a BO odor on couple evenings. That did affect my meal.

 

The dress code is part of the contract we agree to. Rules help to allow an enjoyable vacation for all. Personally I wish the rules that don’t negatively affect someone’s else were guidelines [emoji16]

As much as we do our best to stay within the dress codes regardless of the venue, I’m enjoying my own time, and my husband’s company, to give a damn what other people are wearing at the next table.

You are not alone. I also don't get why people care what other people wear. It doesn't affect the taste of my food in any manner, shape or form. If I choose to wear a beautiful gown and the guy next to me is wearing blue jeans it doesn't change my experience in the least. People need to Live and let live. Quit worrying about what other people do.

I had the same thing. They sent me a print out. Its the extras you added to your cruise. Beverage package, excursions and dinners. I was told it was a glitch in the system.

We did the 12 day that left on Oct 31. Bobby didn't tell jokes perse, but he was funny. He'd pull out his Texas accent occasionally, but he's not a stand up comic. We still enjoyed him. Yes, the ship shows it's age and all ships have rust. We'll be back onboard in April not long before dry dock. Our experience on the smaller ships is that there is dance music in the centrum, but it's usually not party music. South Pacific is used for some things such as art auctions, bingo and Quest, but there's never a dj or band, except at the upper tier party. We see the smaller ships as relaxing vacations and for more action, we go on larger ships. We found the food better than other ships, but they've downsized and changed the menus too much.

There was a DJ every night in the club on deck 14 near Izum when we were on there in August. We went every night. They usually have a band and not a DJ at the top tier party.

Done this route many times. Love it. 5 times to be exact. We usually stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan. Not far from the pier a van ride or cab away.

The Grande tonight. The filet and lobster tail, excellent!!! Then Spectras cabaret.

Spectra's Cabaret is fabulous make sure you get there early. Are they doing We Will Rock You? Also fabulous but long.

Room review superior balcony deck 9. The room is nice and the balcony is spacious. The best part about this room is the storage. Plenty of space with closets and drawers. The worst part is the bathroom. The shower leaks and the floor always wet. And it overall is tiny. The family ocean view on the breeze couldn't be beat. Two bathrooms both with showers so two people could get ready at the same time.

Call maintenance they will fix it. Then if it's not fixed then complain. Anything that is broken needs to be reported how else will they ever know.

We went south because of a storm up north. The captain and RCCL made the decision to go south for the safety of the passengers, crew and ship. They will not be fined. We had a wonderful time and the ship is beautiful. Damage to the ship was cosmetic.

There are two but one contains all the bedding for the sofa bed. So, only one can be used. And, yes, I asked to have it removed and the answer was "we have nowhere else to put it.

I have a hard time believing that the Empress would be returning to RCI, but I'd be all for it if it happened. I love both the small and mega ships, so I'd definitely be open to trying her out.

 

The comments about Cuba make sense, but so does the possibility of her being sent to Azamara. We shall see! :cool:

 

P.s. Just thinking out loud here, but I'd love to see them send her back to Philly to do Bermuda runs again! A 25-30 minute ride to the port would be awesome...

The only thing about leaving from Philadelphia it takes so long to get to International Waters.
