Sky review 8/29-9/1
I thought I heard Tim Kaminski was about at his last sailing. Did you hear anything about him returning? I'm traveling on the 5th. Also, I had planned on having dinner at the Italian restaurant as I ate there once and loved the antipasta cart. What were the negatives of it as I may change my mind and go back to Cagney's instead. Thanks for your review.
All are MY opinions, so take it at that. We had the bean soup and Calamarie for appetizers. Don't get the caeser salad in any of the restaurants, it is bad. I had the Lobster Ravioli (filling was very pasty) and my Mother had the Shrimp Risiotto (Shrimp was done, but the rice was very undercooked). Desserts were just ok, nothing special. Cagney's was great! We both started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. The shrimp were huge and so sweet. Then we moved on to the Sea Bass ( it was awesome!!!) and a 10oz filet. (also very good) The desserts were also very good. We tried the bananas foster and khalua coffee creme brule.
  2. 9219 was great! Older balcony chairs though.

    Sky review 8/29-9/1

Hello! Wanted to post a quick review. Little background on my cruising experience....I have gone on 4 cruises with Royal Caribbean (Voyager, Mariner, Jewel, & Enchantment) and 1 on Carnival Imagination. This was my first NCL cruise. It was ok, but I don't know if I will go back. BUT....the good news is from my NCL experience...the "issues" they were having seem to be cleared up. Embarkation was super fast. We had an immediate escort to our cabin, 9219, balcony fwd. The cabin was good. The beds were much better than we were expecting based on previous reviews. A/C in the cabin worked GREAT. The toilet was also fully functional. Our shower head was broken, but we called maintenance and they came in when we were on our way to dinner around 7. I was happy with that, we only had to take one shower holding the head (the clip holder was broken off.) Dinner the first night was at Adagio. I would not recommend. I guess for $10 it was ok, but we were not the least bit impressed in the food. There were lots of kids in there and the wait staff was a little too good. They hovered constantly. The second night we went to Cagney's. It was absolutely fabulous. The food was awesome, service was great, and the atmosphere was much better. We had dinner reservations for the last night at Le Bistro, but we canceled. We just weren't hungry enough, so we ate a late dinner in Palace. It was good, and the portions were small, so that worked out great for us. The drinks on board seemed higher than other cruise lines, but it didn't keep me from ordering. My biggest disappointment was the cabin steward. NO clue who it was. I am used to them coming by and introducing themselves, but we never saw this person. We left a note the first night requesting extra towels, which we got, but he/she never left extras from then on. If we had used the pool towels they were taken, but not replaced. We had to call each and every time for new pool towels. I had read that they charge you $25/towel if they are missing at the end of the cruise, so we wanted to make sure that we always had 2 in our possession. The same went for ice. I would leave a note or call and never got it. About mid way through I started leaving the ice bucket on my bed and I guess this got the point across, but I still had to leave it on the bed whenever I wanted more ice. Room service was prompt.....no complaints there. The ship's layout wasn't the best, but what can you do about that. Decor was bright and nice. Everything was always clean and most areas smelled nice. I know everyone says this, but Tim Kaminski was great. He was hilarious. Don't miss a single show of his. Well this has been a long review, sorry about that.....let me know if you have any questions! Great time...NCL Sky review August 4-8, 2008

Glad you had a great time! I have been anxious these past few weeks with the bad reviews for Sky. Have a great time on your next cruise on Jewel. I sailed on her a 4-5 years ago sometime.

    The Poop Deck Restaurant

Has anyone been here? I am taking a Mother (54) / Daughter (30) cruise on Aug 29th and am looking for a nice lunch spot while in Nassau. Someone on here mentioned The Poop Deck. I have been on their website and it sounds very good. Can anyone tell me which location is closer to where the ships dock and the best? Poop Deck Yacht Haven or Poop Deck SandyPort? I am also up to any other suggestions anyone has on good places to eat! Thanks!
