  1. Round-trip non-stop, Austin - Seattle (June 5th to June 17th). Alaska Airlines. $220/person (inclusive of taxes and other fees). We booked ours a month ago (mid February).
  2. I think the captain's name is Paul von Knorren. Not too sure about it though.
  3. Lucky you!!! Enjoy every minute of your cruise! :)
  4. Budget Queen, I have a question for you. My family (DH, myself, and DS who's 5) and my father-in-law would do a flightseeing tour on our first Alaskan cruise this June but can't decide whether to do Mendenhall Glacier by Helicopter (Temsco) in Juneau - $259 per person and same rate applies for a child... or Misty Fjords Flightseeing in Ketchikan. I've already contacted Michelle and she said that my son could fly free. If we could only choose/afford one of the two, and taking a 5-year old child into consideration, which one would you recommend? Thank you in advance!
  5. Thank you very much for replying. The Olympic NP sounds beautiful but it'll be a long drive for my 5-year old and my mother-in-law. I think we are most likely going to go with Mt. Rainier. Do you know if the shops in Bainbridge Island are open on Sundays? We'll be on a cruise and going to disembark after breakfast, which will be too early to check in at our hotel at that point. So we plan to drop off our bags (at the hotel) and take the ferry to Bainbridge Island to pass the time.
  6. Thank you!!! The info you provided helps us narrow down our choices to Mt. Rainier NP and Olympic NP. We plan to go on a weekday so hopefully it won't be too crowded. The reason I mentioned about taking a ferry to Bainbridge Island is... we disembark on a Sunday morning and since we can't check in to our hotel anyway until later in the afternoon, we thought it's probably a good way to pass the time (after we drop off our bags at the hotel). I'm not sure though whether the ferry runs frequently on Sundays?
  7. Hi, we (DH, DS who's 5, and myself) are going on an Alaskan cruise with my in-laws this June and will be spending a few days in Seattle after the cruise. Weather permitting, we plan to rent a car and take a day trip to one of the national parks near Seattle, which one would you recommend? Which one offers a scenic drive with plenty of photo-ops along the way? Any other recommendations would be most welcome. Also, we're thinking of doing a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island - once we are in Bainbridge, what are the things to do there without a car? Thank you in advance.

  9. For those of you who have taken this excursion, can you give me an idea if this is something young children will also enjoy? I have a 5 year old son, and my DH really wants to take this excursion. We're debating between Misty Fjords Flightseeing or this.
  10. Thank you for your quick response! There will be 5 of us travelling so maybe we could just hire a taxi driver to give us a tour of the city and take us to Butchart Gardens and back to the port.
  11. Does anyone know how far Butchart Gardens is from the port by taxi? And approx, how much it cost? Thanks.
  12. After reading this thread early this month, I contacted Esline. She was very prompt in responding to my emails. We had Willie as our driver/tour guide when we were in Barbados last week (NCL Dawn 9-day Southern Caribbean). We enjoyed the tour so much that we gave him a generous tip when he dropped us off at the port later that day. I'd highly recommend him! We went to Bathsheba for photo-ops, then to St. John's Church. He took us to Bottom Bay where we stayed for quite a while. After Bottom Bay, I thought he was gonna take us back to the port but he asked whether we want to see the Concorde... and we did! An absolutely fantastic day was had by me, my DH and my little one!
  13. Thank you for this helpful information. I'll have this printed out and take it with me when we go on a cruise this weekend. I have a 5-year old son. Do you think this is something he could do with us (Mom & Dad)? Or is it too much walking for a child his age? I'd appreciate your response. Thank you.
  14. May I ask how many of you took this tour? TIA.
  15. Hi! We will be on that cruise! We plan to take the St. Kitts Scenic Railway excursion. But now that you mentioned about the carnival, that sounds interesting! I googled it and here's the schedule I found: http://www.stkittsneviscarnival.com/events.asp
