Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Last year, we used Your Parking Space to book 8 days at West Quay Road, Southampton, SO15 1RA, which turned out to be in the Ibis/Novotel car park opposite Gate 10 of the docks, which is the entrance for the Horizon Terminal we were travelling from. Cost £28 for the duration, and a fairly easy 10-15 minute walk to the terminal.
  2. Many thanks both of you for the information - will be booking the transfer shortly.
  3. Many thanks everyone for your replies and advice. I did suspect that the most cost effective way would be to travel via Anchorage. What we may do is take one of the transfers that take in the wildlife centre and the aerial tramway on the way to Anchorage then pick up a car and have an evening drive to Seward (hoping it will be light until late!!). A couple of nights in Seward before returning to Anchorage for a night prior to our flight home. Again, many thanks everyone for taking the time to reply.
  4. Hi, We will be on the 7 day northbound Vancouver-Whittier cruise on 8th June. On arrival on 15th, we have 3 nights in the area before we fly back from Anchorage. We are hoping to visit Seward for a couple of nights and were hoping to be able to get a transfer from Whittier to Seward when we disembark, but it seems that the only options are to either rent a car at Whittier to drop off in Anchorage (but there don't appear to be any companies offering this option - Avis states that the location is closed when we arrive), or to get a transfer up to Anchorage then back down to Seward which would take up most of the day. I've looked for private transfers between Whittier and Seward, but have been quoted around $1,600........😬 I'm fairly sure that we will end up having to travel into Anchorage first to either pick up a car or take a motor coach or the train back down to Seward, but hoping someone may know of a suitable direct transfer option. Many thanks.
  5. Many thanks to you all - some great ideas there. I have no problems in driving away from home, and we will be renting a car for our visit to Vancouver Island before we embark on the ship, and in Seattle when we fly back, so this may be a good option.
  6. Many thanks jsglow. Unfortunately we don't have more than 3 days post cruise as we are visiting friends in Seattle, but whatever we decide it sounds as if Anchorage may be the place to end up. Thanks again.
  7. Many thanks for the advice - very grateful. I'll be over to the Alaska board shortly. 👍
  8. Hi, We are planning on taking this cruise next June on board Sapphire Princess. I appreciate there is an existing post which has covered some of the questions I have, but I have another couple of my own, so here goes!! 1. The cruise info states that the ship arrives in Anchorage (Whittier) at just after midnight on the Saturday. As the same ship doesn’t leave until 8:30pm on the same day, I’m 99% sure that we wouldn’t be disembarking in the early hours of the morning, but would be grateful for confirmation that it would be a more “normal” disembarkation time around 08:00-10:00. 2. On arrival in Anchorage, we were considering one of the 3 night add-on land tours that Princess offer. If anyone has taken one of these tours (Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge/Mt. Mckinley Princess Wilderness Lodge/Anchorage or Fairbanks), are they worth the extra or is it better arranging to DIY it (car rental and hotel)? 3. On the same topic, is Anchorage or Fairbanks better to end the tour with regard to the final overnight stay? We will be flying back to Seattle with both airports having direct flights, albeit Anchorage has a greater number, so not too bothered from a flight perspective. More interested in which of the two is better for an evening. As ever, any advice will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
  9. That's great - many thanks for the reassurance!!!!
  10. Apologies everyone - have been off-line for most of the day - and many thanks for taking the time to offer the advice. You are indeed correct - I'm not in the Global Entry Programme of Nexus. Our flight is at 14:50, SEA to LHR. When I was booking it, I misheard and thought the agent had said 4:50......!! Unfortunately, as I am using Virgin Points and a Companion Voucher, I can't change it to a later flight. I had seen one via LAX leaving at 17:50, but was told the voucher can't be used on Delta operated flights, so hoping that things will go smoothly!! Our only other option would be to change the flight to the following day, but this would be tight for getting back into work on the Monday. Is it possible to request an early disembarkation time at all? Many thanks again for your time.
  11. That's great to hear, as we don't have a great deal of "slack" between our arrival time into Seattle and our flight. Many thanks for the reply - extremely grateful.
  12. Hi, We are booked onto Discovery Princess next April/May, departing from Vancouver and returning to Seattle. I'm just wanting to check if there will be a full customs/immigration check on arrival in Seattle? When we last took a cruise in the US (Tampa to Cozumel and return), we were invited to meet with immigration at an early hour, and TBH we were all processed fairly quickly. Fingers crossed it will be the same next year!!! Many thanks.
  13. Hi, Noticed a post from back in 2014 advising there was a lounge for departing MSC customers at Genoa Airport - does anyone know if this facility is still available as we disembark at 09:10 but our flight is not until 16:00. Many thanks.
  14. From Villefranche, you can catch the frequent train into Nice (or to Monaco in the opposite direction), or when we visited (pre-Covid), there was the Hop-on/Hop-off bus tour that called there.
