  1. We took the Alaskan Cruise this year with three families. I started looking for options in June of 2018 for May 2019. When pricing, I checked Princess, RCL, NCL, CCL. When I was looking for a two person cabin, Princess usually came out a little cheaper. Where the big difference in prices came, was in a family of four. Carnival’s guest 3 and 4 rate was usually $299 pp. Princess’s rate could be as much as $599 pp I guest 3 and 4. It’s good that Carnival is finally deploying a larger ship to Alaska. I liked the Spirit class, but the other lines have larger ships covering the area.
  2. We got an upgrade call for our Alaskan cruise back in May. We went from an inside to one of the premium balcony cabins for $600 for a family of 4. We thought it was an awesome upgrade and took it. They called us on the Thursday before we left on Monday.
  3. There was no evidence of an oil spill. The operator said there was not on at all. It was very beautiful there.
  4. We were on the Carnival Legend on the May 24th visit to Skagway. We were told by one of the local tour operators that the Jewel would not be docking with us that day. We had booked independently and there was supposed to be people from that cruise on with us. He said that the passengers were told there was an oil spill in the port and that they were not docking. Both the Carnival Legend and the Queen Elizabeth docked that morning safely at 7:00. I was wondering what had happened.
