Would really like a change ...have been cruising solely for 30 years . All that I see online are very big 'resorts'...long distances to pools/restaurants/ocean. Would like a boutique resort that DH would find easier to walk. Haven't taken a land based vacation in many years so out of the loop....any hints? Mediterranean would be nice...especially Canary Islands. Sorry to ask, guess I should involve a TA with my question but I know folks here are very helpful when they can be.

Air Transat , no carry on on some flights
Oceangoer2 replied to Ex-Airbalancer's topic in Canadian Cruisers
Just returned on WestJet..they allowed one checked bag PP, one carry on and one personal item, just as Air Canada used to allow. Off topic, but due to the Toronto plane crash we were at the airport for a return flight from Florida for 3 days..we had 16 delay or cancelled flight notices in that time, 2 gate changes and a terminal change , but still no flight back to Toronto. Sitting all day/night in a flight terminal believing the last notice would get us home is quite stressful. 2 hotels/meals/etc later we booked West Jet which WAS flying into Toronto despite the backlog from the plane crash. -
We flew in from Florida Sat. afternoon...turbulence on the way back and pilot advised the wind might be a consideration landing at Pearson. There was more snow than I've ever seen at the airport and the tarmac appeared to be slick. As the plane landed somewhat hard, it swerved a little, and we felt the correction before coming to a normal stop. The passengers erupted in loud applause....haven't heard that since before flying became ho-hum. As frequent flyers we felt the difference landing and I gripped my arm rest having the upside down plane landing in mind.

Sign in, then under "Manage Your Account", left hand side there's an opportunity to show a "Special Occasion". We've used it many times and they (sometimes) knew when that occasion was and marked it with a sing along and a small cake.

Be careful with move up. I've found that if the cabin is available to 'move up', it's usually available on the website. I check to see what the going rate is for a specific cabin/class and compare it with the move up bid 'lowest'. I did this a few days ago and was able to book the 'available cabin' a few hundred dollars less than the starting move up bid and also received the latest OBC perk. May not apply all the time, but for me it did.

I'm pretty sure it's a crew door to their stairs to above and below. The luggage is delivered to the landing of these doors and I've seen them opened with the luggage (double doors).

Tuscan Grille on Constellation not worth the wait

Thanks....it was the Specialty Dining link in the title, but it 'unfroze' just now.

Tuscan Grille on Constellation not worth the wait
Oceangoer2 replied to boxcaja's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I'm trying to book but screen freezes at the payment option. Won't work on my phone either..just defaults to lunch option with lower pricing. Maybe they're at max? However,it's held in my 'cart' so I suppose when it unfreezes the price will be honoured. 🤞 -
Link not working....anyone else have a problem?

Tuscan Grille on Constellation not worth the wait

I booked Tuscan this Feb. and it's only 10% off...will have to look again and see if it's changed. -
Looking for clean 4* mid range. Have considered Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center...seems all hotels are more expensive than 'the other side' of Florida. I'll look at Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites, but near the airport.

I've searched the suggested forums with limited results, and dated. In all our cruises we've sailed out of FLL or MIA...not familiar at all with Tampa. Would like something near the port if that's possible. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Plastic zip ties to prevent reclining?
Oceangoer2 replied to phoenix_dream's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If they're in carry on...no. My less than 3" scissors had to be in checked luggage. -
Plastic zip ties to prevent reclining?
Oceangoer2 replied to phoenix_dream's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yes...true...not sure what point you're making with regard to my post. We always sail in concierge and above. Chairs had zip ties on last cruise. We've sailed well before 2012 and had these chairs with no incident. Others have, I'm sure. I don't think this topic is debatable but good to know what others have experienced. -
Plastic zip ties to prevent reclining?
Oceangoer2 replied to phoenix_dream's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We loved the balcony chairs and it was important to us the balcony had the chairs and footstools. Last cruise they were tied....DH cut them off. IMO, the person who had ONE tie may have upset the balance of the chair and weight could have broken the weak tie which may have not held the back in the slot made for stability. Also, IMO, in all the years we used these chairs, they never slipped when we put the back ...back...LOL. They shouldn't have put ties on them to begin with if they rot and the back isn't in it's proper position. -
So Close to a Move Up Offer (Rejected in the End)
Oceangoer2 replied to BV0's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We had the same situation...seemed we were about to have a winning bid and it had moved as far as the 'approval' stage (per MU contact)....it was a shell game over 2 weeks...now there was an open suite showing online, then there wasn't, then there was, then there wasn't and we were rejected. MU staff apologized. Maybe someone (entertainer?) required the suite. Disappointing at the time but it's a game you play when bidding. At least now they've applied a new message which is very clarifying...."One of your submitted bids has been pre-selected for an upgrade and will be attempted within 24 hours if the inventory is available" Happy your bid worked for you....Enjoy! -
It is difficult to schedule dining times outside of the choices...main dining early/late, or anytime dining. At one time we requested an accessible 2 top window table and it was indicated on our booking confirmation by our Celebrity Rep. On arrival the Hostess wasn't aware, Perhaps the ship staff isn't informed of booking requests. The onboard maitre d' will very quickly arrange this for you. Also, you could try making your case known to the Celebrity Engagement Centre.... [email protected] They are very good at solving issues when possible.

Especially 'that'....obfuscational ...🤭...and maybe 'confusing' and too many words to describe a somewhat simple situation...LOL.

Considering Downgrading from Aqua Sky (Retreat) to Aqua Class
Oceangoer2 replied to BV0's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I did say 'S' class not E class...which we enjoyed often...Luminae menu is limited and mostly not to my taste. -
Deciphering....."prefer yummy but ugly, to pretty but bland".....I'm weighing the ugly part......if it's REALLY ugly, I don't think I'd try it to find out if it's yumy. Now bland but pretty on the other hand....I'd go for it at first then lose interest. A contrast to my early dating years before I realized ugly (or somewhat ugly) is preferable to pretty but bland. And I really don't think that's a description of YOU!

Nice pics...does 'pretty on the plate' count for fine dining?

Considering Downgrading from Aqua Sky (Retreat) to Aqua Class
Oceangoer2 replied to BV0's topic in Celebrity Cruises
But Luminae guests may ask for the BLU menu and the MDR menu on S class and not have to line up anywhere. -
The move up offer depends on the cabin you initially booked...they go up from there to a certain level. eg: if you book concierge the offer includes aqua to highest suites.
