  1. I will continue to cruise solo as the friends I used to cruise with stopped for a variety of reasons, from finances to scheduling conflicts. Since the 1A solo supplement went away, I've enjoyed higher categories for a few dollars more; since I'm paying 200% anyway, I figured I'd enjoy the space. My main issue about CCL's solo policy the fact we pay 200%, but if you try to take advantage of many promotions offering OBC, the solo cruiser only gets 50%. So now I don't even look at 3 day sales or other similar promotions.
  2. Middleham Falls, Dominica Avalon, Catalina Cozumel
  3. Thanks for the replies. I've been nervous having chosen Galveston as my first VIP embarkation port, then seeing posts on how slow it's been in the past...
  4. Anyone care to share any recent experiences with the port upgrades at Galveston? Thanks!
  5. Do plenty of research and shop various sites; earlier this year I booked a 4j (deck 10, picture window with a view of the "hidden deck") on CCL Liberty for a lot cheaper than one of those tiny studios on the Epic. Shop around and find the best deal for yourself, and def check out the solo forum
  6. I have two: I was dumbfounded when I walked on board at embarkation, the first thing you see is the Lobby Atrium. Seeing up several decks, the glass elevators, I fell in love immediately! My first ship was Fantasy. I've been on 9 cruises in the ensuing 7 years! My platinum is upcoming! Number 2 is the staff; early on embarkation day I got a Red Stripe at one of the bars, from a lovely blonde bartender from Croatia. Later that afternoon I decided to try my first DOD and went to a table set up specifically with these drinks. The same girl was working the table, and said "No more Red Stripe, Mr Bob?" With all the people they serve, I couldn't believe she remembered my name and drink! I fell in love all over again! :D
  7. You'll love the Dream, she's a beautiful ship!
  8. She actually did it, and seemed earnest in the request... Wow
  9. I got the Nook Color before my last cruise, and love it. No issues reading in sunlight, and I was able to watch movies (MP4) on it (great quality too) on the flights to and from port. Battery life is fair, but it charges pretty quickly.
  10. I loved the Dream so much, I booked Magic for Feb. Sorry you aren't enjoying it.
  11. Great review! When you took this I had earlier disembarked and was flying back to frigid New Hampshire  I'm enjoying all your pics, please keep 'em coming! I loved the Liberty!
  12. I was on this cruise & met OP & DH at our meet & greet, also bumped into them from time to time on deck 10. Liberty hasn't been updated with the Serenity area yet, but hopefully she will during her next dry dock. She is a beautiful ship nonetheless, and it was a great cruise with some great people!
