Feedback?
I place 99.9% of the responsibility on the parent or guardian. The cruiseline is not the police nor the daycare center.
0.1% on the cruiseline to enforce in the extreme case of safety.
Enough complaints to Guest Services would warrant, in my opinion, security having a conversation with the parents. No complaints???? no discussion. Let the parents handle the situation.
(or,,, if nothing else,, sticking the foot out as they run by,,, )
The childrens behaviour is a direct reflection of the parents, not the cruiseline.

Just a question,, but,,,
isn't there a difference between the Price Protection Form (used for purchase price adjustments within 24 hours of purchase),,,,, and the ES price reduction form?
-
This is NOT fact,,, but is probably close to being correct.
Your DD bought a consolidator ticket thru CheapO Air. The flight happens to be on US Air. The fare codes and restrictions determine what exactly she can do.
Worse case scenario is that her ticket was on US Air on flight XYZ. The restrictions REQUIRE her flight to be on US AIR flight XYZ. No transfer, no flight number change, no carrier changes allowed. When she declined the time change, they cancelled her flights and will give her a full refund
Best case scenario, they'll help her find other flights and there will be no issues.
However, all conversations have to start and end with CheapO Air. You are CheapO's customer not US Air's customer.

Thanks and no we do not have a Carnival excursion. It is independent. And we are not Platinum or Diamond so that really doesn't apply.
Tender process is so fast in Grand Cayman that it really doesn't matter. Either way, your excursion people do this every day of the week and has been doing this for 10 to 20 years now. They know the tender process and will not leave without you. (unless you're an hour late).
Either way,,, since you don't have priority status either in Platinum/FTTF/ or a sponsored Carnival excursion,,,,, follow the directions that will be in the FunTimes the night before and go to the meeting area to get your tender tickets.

I'm just going to give my opinion.
I'm thinking you're trying to make much ado about nothing.
I'm going by the terms ex husband and current wife. My current wife has one of those. Ex husband, that is. She used to get upset just because she didn't like his current girlfriend at the time.
I had to sit her down down and ask her a couple of questions and make a couple of statements.
1. Just because you don't want him anymore, doesn't mean someone else doesn't.
2. In your heart of hearts, do you really think that he would intentionaly put his children in harms way?
3. Do you really think that your love is more than his love of the children?
It is my impression that you are looking for information that he is a horrible parent and allowed his children to be placed in a dangerous situation.
I would have to surmis that he would better know the maturity level and their "street wise" dispositions better than I.

depends on if you approach your glass as to whether it's half empty or half full

Of the 3 Cruiselines you're considering,,,, all 3 are more alike than different.
Choose based on Port of departure, ports wishing to visit (understanding that no port of visit is guaranteed) and number of days you want to sail.

I'll recommend you look at the July timeframe. Not for cost reasons though. Mostly just because of availability.
Since this is a class reunion, I would imagine that your class is now spread out across the country. I would also assume that your classmates now have families. Some parts of the country don't end their school year until late June, while other areas begin the school year in early to mid August.

Do what Cruisead said.
My sweet wife did what you are doing,,, and lawdy, lawdy, lawdy,, did we find out we have some a-hole friends and family. Not until she spent hundreds of hours researching, money spent on developing a web site, etc, etc,,, did everyone else either think she was cheating them out of money or when it came time to pay money,,, they bailed.
Do your basic research, Sounds like Galveston is the choice,,,, don't worry about hurricane season,,, nobody can predict that, just pick a date,,,
Maybe research a couple of TA's,,, find out who's going to take the best care of your group,,,,
Then tell everyone,, Here's the TA's phone number, make your reservations now.
When you start seeing lots of bookings,,, the TA should help you in setting up activities.

It has been my experience that she MUST book thru their travel agent. The cabin will be a guarantee interior. She will not be able to combine with any other promotion. She will be offered the ability to pay to upgrade, and she will receive a 1099 for tax purposes and will be required to claim this as earned income.

Safest?
Next day in my opinion.
Takes all of the debate of possible delays of the ship reentering the port, Customs delays, etc.
Allows you to take your time getting off the ship. Allows you time to unwind and relax.
-
Sure you can
On your cell phone and both ships are in port with their towers turned off
-
Yes to both if just getting basic insurance.
However, if you are adding a Cancel For Any Reason rider or are getting insurance that waives any pre existing conditions,,,,,, then many policies require you to cover all expenses associated with the trip that are non refundable

You might want to look at Alaska Airlines.
They are just starting a new route SEA - DET. They have some good sales going on right now to promote the new routes.
-
Pros?
Damn good food and presentation for the small amount of extra charge
Cons?
To me, the wait staff try too hard to be upscale and end up coming off pretentious. What's up with the fake French accent in a supposed American Steakhouse?
The free bottle of wine that you get on the first night? You could get for $3.95 at your local store. You are not receiving a free bottle of high end wine from your favorite winery.

Family of 4 WITH luggage
MAY require 2 cabs. May be able to wait for a (van) cab.

There shouldn't BE an opening bid. I shouldn't have to negotiate to get fair compensation.

How are they supposed to please you if they don't know what you want?
Some people would be fine with what they offered,,, some people would expect a free family reunion cruise in the Owners Suite.
Wife to husband: I'm mad at you.
Husband to wife: What did I do?
Wife to husband: If you don't know, then you don't love me!
Husband:
-
I agree.
This is a situation that should not happen but occasionally will.
So, they moved the 2 people affected to another cabin and offered half days cabin costs as compensation. That's their opeing bid on these negotiations.
What's your opening bid?

Just my experience
If anyone in your party has back issues,,,, stay away.
I've had 3 surgeries at the L4-L5 region. Last one about 10 years ago. I'm relatively active. Walk, golf, bowl, bending/lifting/sitting/driving for work. I'm careful but not overly so.
Went on the Thrill Ride the second day,,,,, I was down and out for the rest of the week. Thank goodness I had some vicoden left over from a recent dental procedure.
As Bill Engvall would say,,,, Vicoden and a Bahama Mamma make for a bitchin day :D

Does anyone do this at hotels or when going to someone else's house?
Thanks for the new question though. After 14 years on this board, that's a new one. :)

The MILLIONS of $$$$$$ Carnival invested in building Mahagony Bay,,,, I seriously doubt that they intend to abandon this Port of Call.
Now, will they put pressure on and work more closely with the local government regarding security of all guests? Most likely.
-
I'm going to recommend a different route.
Insurance companies (in the fine print) do require you to mitigate any potential damages.
In other words,,,, if you know or may know that you are going to cancel at 60 days and (for example) the loss is 50% cruise fare,,, but you wait to cancel until 30 days prior where the loss is 100%,,,, they may only reimburse the 50%.
However, I agree with others. Doctor said you should be fine. I'd give it another week or two,,, to see how your doing and what the doc says.

All you can do is call and ask.
Most times the flight has to change by 90 minutes or more before the airline will waive change fees.
Good luck though and be sugary sweet when asking for a favor

I believe the answer to the original question is Yes
How "sick"?
Under a licensed medical care and professionally advised in writing to not travel.
The next question though that could muck all this up is
"pre-existing condition" clause. Did you purchase insurance in time that would waive any issues surrounding a pre-existing condition.
