Thanks heaps, Emel ! I can now stop worrying about what kind of clothes to pack for the cruise :) - with regards to the quality of food, I can also now stop worrying about gaining unwanted kilos :D

Scenic Sapphire Comments

Hi Emel, Thanks for the review that you posted. My husband and I booked a Scenic Tour cruise for next year. As we are new to cruising, could you kindly tell me the dress code for the Welcome and Captain's dinner. Is is really formal with ties and dinner jackets for men and semi formal for ladies? What about the dress code for the "regular night" dinners? Smart casual or are there passengers wearing jeans? Thanks...
3. I've been to a website showing photos of the Scenic Sapphire cabins which I am assuming are almost the same as Scenic Emerald's. The cabin photos show a flat screen monitor but no keyboard. Is the keyboard hidden inside the drawers or at the back of the monitor or one that will be provided by the crew if you purchased internet access ? Or is it one of those "touch screen" keyboards?:confused: :o http://ngaire.smugmug.com/River%20Cruise%20Lines/583399
4. Found this wonderful website whilst browsing yesterday. Most of you may have been to this website and seen the actual photos already, however, I am posting the URL for those who might be interested :) :) http://ngaire.smugmug.com/River%20Cruise%20Lines/583399

Scenic Sapphire Amsterdam to Budapest Cruise

Thanks GrannyLorr, you're lucky because you have a husband who is brave enough to sort out the dining issues. My hubby would probably leave it all up to me to find a table  I'm 43, doing a cruise for the first time in my life, and hoping and praying that the experienced cruisers would be kind enough to share a table with myself and hubby, even for just a couple of days. Would be nice to get info and cruising tips from the experts whilst having dinner:) - instead of dining just with my husband, with both of us wondering what to do next:eek: Hope you, newnana and the others doing the cruise in Nov / Dec this year would have a wonderful time. Will wait for your scenic tour review when you get back and let me know if your hubby's strategy of making people move actually worked and I'll start practicing:D
6. How's the internet connection - Scenic Emerald? Am planning to bring my laptop so I can check important work-related emails before going to bed. Is internet free? If not, do you know how much they charge for the usage? Thanks...
7. I guess the "no choice" dining issue is the same whether it's a river cruise or a coach tour:(. My husband and I were on a First Class Coach Europe Tour last year. Only 2 travellers from Australia (myself and hubby), 6 from Canada, and rest from America. Dining became a bit of an issue in terms of finding a table, especially for the 2 single travellers from America. Seat rotation inside the coach was also impossible - at least with river cruise we don't have to worry about issues such as "hey, we have a seat rotation, I'm supposed to be in this seat today" Anyway, we booked a river cruise for next year and are looking forward to it. This will be our first river cruise. Am hoping that the cruise "no choice dining" issue is not worse than the coach tour's.

Liesure Suit Larry, are you back yet?

Just paid my deposit yesterday for 2009 Scenic Tour river cruise. As I booked with a TA, do you know if I could also access the Tour Personaliser to check the details? Or is the Tour Personaliser only available to those who booked directly with Scenic Tours? Anyway, I am contacting my TA to give me the booking reference number. Also, I gave a long list of checklist to my TA yesterday before I made the deposit ;) and I was with her when she was doing the booking with Scenic Tours. One PLUS factor with scenic tours, I get to fly with Singapore Airlines (my favourite airline) for free to europe, yipee! Am putting smileys on my paycheck because of the savings I was able to avail of :)

Scenic Sapphire Amsterdam to Budapest Cruise

Dear GrannyLorr and Others, Just would like to thank you ALL for posting your "Scenic Tour Saga" and info such as water level. For a newbie cruiser like myself and my husband, your posts certainly helped us prepare for the worst case scenario and the importance of checking details using the Tour Personaliser. I went to my TA yesterday to pay the deposit for the 2009 15 day river cruise - with a long list of checklist for my TA ;). I was also listening when she was making the booking with Scenic Tours, with my fingers crossed. I thought I had all T's crossed and I's dotted - however :( when I was looking at the Airfare/Tour Accommodation Details that I got from my TA yesterday, it says "Outside Balcony Suite on the Danube Deck". As you all are aware of, there are 2 cabin categories on the Danube Deck - cat A and cat P - I've asked my TA to book the cat P - but... as the cat P was not specified on my tour details - I now have to ring my TA to give me a confirmation that Scenic Tours actually booked me on cat P and also to get my Scenic Tour booking Reference number. Problem is, my TA is not working today, so have to wait until tomorrow to get that confirmation. Tried to ring Scenic Tour but they said they could only deal with my TA :( Am so excited about the river cruise, not to mention the fact that we were able to avail of the Fly to Europe for Free promo next year and we will be flying with Singapore Airlines, my fave airline :) - wish we could take a longer cruise and holiday but need to go back to work after the cruise...

Scenic Crusie

Hello. My husband and I have made bookings with Scenic Tours and APT for next year. Deadline for making the deposit is on Thursday. I am leaning more towards Scenic Tour, but just a bit worried with the lack of response and difficulty dealing with Scenic Tour staff as per feedback I have read so far. Any updates if the teething problems and admin staff issues have improved a bit? Or should I just choose APT over Scenic Tours - for my peace of mind? Thanks in advance for your response...
