Just got done reading this entire thread. Question, How far does any Cruise liner have to be out of port before they send a Air Vac Helicopter to the ship? Both times the Oasis turned around, sounds like she was less then 30 minutes out.
I thought I have heard / read that the Oasis has the capability of storing ( Wrong Phase ) 5 to 6 bodies. Is that true? Sorry and prayers for the families involved. Hope everything goes as plan from here on out.

I pity all of those people that bought the stock several years ago when it was under 6 bucks a share...Hope they did not sell at 8 bucks!

I agree with Alfaeric,
The point that I was trying to get out is Carnival, being a Multi BILLION dollar company, Can't come up with a better way to camouflage this GENERATORS? Yes, they are there for back up, but as I said when I started this thread, I was SHOCKED to see it up there. Yep, we are RCL Guys, been on a couple of Carnival ships out of Los Angeles and have never seen this before.
Maybe paint it to look more in line with the SEA. Heck, maybe make it one of the kids event, spray paint the Generator and create Art? Kids would Love that!
Hopefully it would only be the generator... ha ha ha!

I took this last Friday in St Kitts while we were on the TA From Southampton to San Juan on the Adventure OTS. I could not believe this is on the Jogging Track and for all of the World to see. Don't you think they would try to camouflage it at least? Would you not think twice if you saw one of these on a RCL Ship? Oh Carnival.....you really are a GIANT step behind RCL!
Just in case the picture is small.......It is a Giant RENT A GENERATOR on the Valor! I guess it is a......Just in Case I guess we loose power in the ocean, kind of like camping in a Motorhome in the forest!
RCL is the only way to go.......and YES, The Adventure OTS was a Blast for 15 days and NO....She is not a Sick Ship. :)

Thanks RCL,
Guess what we will be talking about in the CL on Sunday Night on the Adventurer OTS TA. Hopefully our experience on this up coming cruise will be filled with all Happy People and Staff. :o

Does anybody know if this info gets back to RCL management? I have to laugh because on one of my FB pages...someone yesterday asked if any cruisers on the westbound got a certificate for the sailing..." Thanks for sailing on the Oasis TA ", we always get one when we do a TA. The answer was NO! Then my comment was, I remember a Eastbound poster showing a picture say...Thanks for sailing the Westbound Certificate. It just appears that RCL gave up on this cruise a couple of months ago and will do nothing but collect the BIG BUCKS that all paid. I am so happy we cancelled and moved to the Adventurer OTS this Sunday.....and we save over 950.00 for the same D1 cabin.....yes, not the Oasis, but we get PORTS....Lot's and Lot's Of Ports!
So sorry for all of the passengers that feel they got a Bad deal....but part of me thinks you had to know! We did and we have only been on her once and that is why we move because we knew it was going to be Way to crowded for 12 nights and one port.

So I have to put in my 2 cents......I really like the Hamburgers and love the fries from the windjammer. If you just eat the burger...OK...not much to it...But if you dress them up as I do...they are quite tasty. And since we will be on the Adventurer for 15 days this coming Sunday....Should I dare post a Picture of my hamburger everyday?

I'll say.....on the Liberty Westbound TA in 2011 and the Mariner Westbound TA in 2012, all Sundays and Mondays The Ship showed Football from the US.
I am hoping to see the games next Sunday when we start our new TA on the Adventurer OTS out of Southampton. And I am a Big San Diego Chargers Fan!

Thanks Art and Ellie and other posters. Great Review...Boy, That was a fast 12 days. Enjoyed reading all of the comments and seeing all of the pictures.
Have a Safe flight back to Los Angeles. I will try to post some from the Adventurer OTS when we board next Sunday in Southamton. Hopefully the boarding for our cruise will be must better then what all of the cruisers on the Oasis experienced.

Like many of you...Love reading the review and the comments from other cruisers on the Oasis TA. Like I have I said before...we got caught up in the Hype of sailing on the Worlds Largest Cruise Liner doing a TA. I thought...WE HAVE TO DO. So when we were on the Freedom in April 2013, I remember talking to the Future Cruise Consultant and got caught up in more hype. So we were one of the first to book. YIPPEE! But after 7 months of pondering and thinking about it...the same question came up......Would the Oasis be DONE with the dry dock or would there still be work to be done on the sailing. Maybe sailing for 10 years and talking to cruisers and reading CC.....the answer was....Not the right time to do Oasis. Plus the fact that there was one port in 12 nights, I looked at it like going to Las Vegas, staying at the Bellagio Hotel but never leaving the hotel for 12 days. So we are very happy we jumped ship and moved over to the Adventurer OTS. Yep, not the Oasis, and yes we have heard the recent problems with the health of the ship...but still excited.
The true reviews and the Good and Bad will come in the next few days when the passengers get off and start reviewing their experiences. I know with our experiences on 2 other RCCL TA's, the Prices were very inexpensive....so you almost said who cares about the quality of the food or the service....we are traveling cheap to see the world. But I know that what were going to pay for our B1...we had cabin 11729, So like many of the posters...I would expect a little more from RCL then what they are receiving. Hopefully RCL will read all of the comment cards that everybody should fill out and do some good PR work to win back the Excellent Cruise Experience that most of us are use to.
Will keep reading this thread the next few days to find how the last couple of days turn out. Thanks Art and Ellie for the great review and pictures. If you try another cruise on RCL, Since we have nothing on the West Coast, Try the Navigator OTS.... Pricing and Itinerary and the ship are all great. And not as far to go to Florida.
Have a great Sunday aboard the Oasis! :)

So I know everybody is excited and so am I.....we will be closer then most but will not be on it. We are on the Adventurer OTS on Nov 2 so I hope we can get close up and personal with pictures.
Question, since this ship is going to Asia in 7 months, Have they built this ship for that market....meaning bigger casino and different shops and Restaurants and so on....where what I have read...the Anthem will remain on this side of the world. I know that when RCL sent the Voyager and Mariner.....those ships went thru construction on the long sailing to the Far East. Being a Brand New Ship.....will RCL put this ship under the same renovations during the long sailing to Asia. Just wondering.

Hi Art,
Great review so far. As I mentioned before a few days ago, we were also booked on the cruise...I think we were one of the first since we booked while on the Freedom OTS in April 2013 at 7:30 am. But after 6 months of thinking about how Crowded and the possibility of the ship not being finished renovating...we jumped to the Adventurer OTS.....plus for the fact we are really Port Guys and water and sun Guys. So I think we made the correct decision in changing. If you could, can you give weather report everyday and possibly let us know where you are on the pond?
If I can, For Chelsea1.....Do you know if the Adventurer will sail out of the same Dock as the Oasis? Does RCL have a certain dock for all ships?
Like you...after dozen and dozen of Cruises...we like to be the last on Board and skip the Long Lines. Can we drop Luggage early and go sight see in Town? Is there a store close by the port so we can buy water? Is there a MUST see or do in Southampton. Thanks for any info you can supply!
And Art, Weather in So Cal is still Beautiful...Mid 80's all this week.
Have FUN everyone! :):):)

You can actually mark a thread as "subscribed" and also decide if you want to be emailed updates of any posts that are made. If you're on CC on your PC, go to the top right while you're in the thread and choose "Thread Tools."

Hi again, looking forward to hearing all of the GOOD on the Quantum.
We will be near you on the Adventurer OTS.......Will we be in the same Dock Area in SouthHampton? I hope so because I would love to grab some pictures and I am hoping we are next to each other to hopefully hear a Horn battle? I hope RCL will read this to do a little something for all of the Nearly 8000 passengers on the 2 ships. Have Fun! I know we are going to have a Blast! :)

OK....I do not come on CC all that much, just here and there especially when we get closer to cruising. So when everybody says " Subscribing " what does that really mean? Do they get alerts somehow or do they just come on to CC and read the thread all day ?
Thanks

HI ART,
First off, love the thread and your pictures thus far.
We are from Huntington Beach and we are also on the Air New Zealand flight that leaves out of LAX at 5:00 pm going to London on the 31st of October. If we are at LAX at 3:00 pm...we should be in good Shape? Was your flight Full and you said service is excellent?
Like you...we booked the Oasis the morning it opened back in April 2013, had room 11729 which is what we wanted.....but after 7 months of really thinking do we only want 1 port for the 12 nights...we jump ship and went over to the Adventurer OTS that does Europe and the Caribbean and ends in San Juan. So with your thread....We are going to see what we missed. I hope we made the right move.
How are the crowds so far? We have been on Oasis only once, loved it and never felt crowded at all. How about your cabin...where are you located.
On the weather....we are only in Southhampton for the day / night....can we get away with just Sweatshirts or maybe a Wind Breaker for the moisture? Since we are sailing to warm climates, seems silly to bring jackets for one day....and you know us So Cal guys.....shorts and t-shirts and flip flops.
Thanks for taking your time on doing this thread and looking forward to the next week and a half.

Hi,
what OBC was it? A present from someone or a promotional OBC?
Some OBCs are refundable and some are not. On our last cruise we had $450 OBC ($200 promotion + $250 present) and got a refund of $170.
So hard to say......We used a NEXT Cruise Certificate and had 100.00 from the Online TA....so maybe from the TA. On the TV screen....it just shows a credit to your account and as you spend....it goes down. Guess we do not spend enough on Board....So I guess we should say...So Sorry Royal!
-
We were on the Navigator OTS on the May 18th Cruise. When all was said and done...we had a 45.00 credit that we left behind...not intentionally. The night before we disembarked, we thought the $45.00 would be used as part of the Gratuity that was owed to the Crew. When we looked at the final bill on the Sunday we left....we noticed we either pre paid those gratuities or the Online TA paid them, but we could not remember since the cruise was booked for 6 months. We were kind of bummed out that we left that money since we have read time and time again.....It's gone unless you use it.
Well, low and behold, Got our B of A RCCL bill today....and we got a credit of $45.02 back from Royal....So to all of you naysayers....I have proof that good things do come in the mail and from Royal.
Thanks RCCL....Thumbs up to You!

Don't do it! For Bill and I who are organized and I am a Clean Freak.....It's Perfect....but just for 2 people. I remember a couple of years ago our Family shared a family suite.....2 women, one Dad and 2 kids.....That room was a disaster every time we went there...I felt so sorry for the Room Steward!
Good luck and Keep looking for a great deal on 2 cabins.

OK Royal, This has been discussed so many times....But no Pictures were involved. Now I have Proof! Went on a 40 mile Bicycle ride along the coast from Huntington Beach to Long Beach and this is what I saw......
OLDEST AND THE ELDERLY!
There has to be something you can do to make us Happy on the West Coast? And no, just not for one or two sailing a year....maybe a Season once the new Panama Canal opens.
I Just got off the Navigator and she is now the WOW ship of the fleet!
PLEASE BRING WOW back to Los Angeles....PLEASE!
Thanks
