  1. While I'd love a 45 min drive vs 3.5-4 hours, I'd say it's more likely she goes to Cape Liberty over Black Falcon. Serenade goes out of Black Falcon in 2017. Grandeur still out of Baltimore. Anthem still out of Cape Liberty. What ship is listed as calling in 2017, but not '18? Rhapsody. They were adding this as a second ship out of Cape Liberty for 2017. Seems like they'll make it Freedom for 2018. Would still love for them to move a ship to BF to do 7 day Bermuda runs.

  2. I'd like to know the rules for "moving" your on-board reservation to another cruise. In post #3 above, it says that it's not possible. However, couple people in this thread said they were able to do it.

Is it one of those things that depends on the agent that answers the phone at RCCL when you call and their mood?

I can honestly say for a fact, that is what happened. We were on Allure and wanted an open booking for a cruise in 2017 when itineraries were not out yet. Were told by Next Cruise that open bookings didn't exist anymore and to pick an itinerary far our and we'll get the OBC (both instant and future). We did. Gave us 100 OBC instant and I believe 300 OBC for the future one. Was told they would just move it the new booking when I transfer it.

Four/five months later when I transferred, they clearly told me on the phone that I was going to lose my OBC since it was non transferable. When I stated that is not what we were told, they insisted this is the policy. Then when I asked why I did not get my Diamond discount on the original booking, the answer was that the promotion of OBC was higher than the discount so I had to give up the discount. Then with the transfer and loss of the OBC, I was then able to get a Diamond discount.

I will say that when I went down to Next Cruise, they had only been doing this "new program" for future bookings for about a week or two. Maybe the agent was confused. Who knows. I ended up transferring a Harmony JS to a Adventurer GS and still was a grand less so I'm not going to worry about 50 bucks at this point.

  3. They still do the open booking? We were on Allure in December and they said it was no longer an option. But then again, given that we were told to book any cruise to get the future credit and then it would transfer when we move it to a booking we actually wanted which was completely false, I would have to say that "not being an option any longer" was also a lie. For the record, when I rebooked, they honored my Diamond discount which apparently was not given to me when I booked on board in favor of an OBC which was 50 more than the Diamond discount.

  4. Yes there was a glow party. They had something in the Music Hall (I believe) called Groovy 70s or something similar, I can't remember the exact title! They also had a White Party in the Solarium one night.

We did Puzzle Break. They had it at multiple different times on different days but you will want to check with Guest Services or the Activities Desk in the Sea Plex as the time slots filled up quickly. I believe we ended up getting a time slot on Day 8, sea day! It was fun and definitely worth giving it a shot!

I, unfortunately, did not keep the compasses. I was trying to minimize the time it took to pack on the last day and that resulted in throwing a lot of our paperwork away! Sorry!

Thanks for responding. I was actually asking solely for the reason of seeing when the shows were so we could make dinner reservations around it. Our entertainment is still not available on the October cruise. Thanks.

  5. We are on Anthem in October and will stop in San Juan...its a 7am to 1pm stop. We've seen Old San Juan a couple times in previous cruises and would like to do something different like visit El Yunque. Are there any reputable tours operating in this tight time frame? Looks like most are full day tours. Given the 45 min drive (or so) each way from the port, that only leaves ~3 hours at the forest. Looking for opinions. Thanks!

  6. Dry dock would only be necessary if there was damage below the water line. Propulsion, stabilizers, etc. The water is too murky at Cape Liberty to do underwater repairs (remember when Explorer hit a reef and had a bad propeller??) so unless something mechanical is already know to be bad, they will not likely go to dry dock.

  7. We are leaving on Sunday for my son's Make a Wish trip on the FOS. My son's original wish was to have a treasure hunt on the beach. The cruise became part of the wish as the transportation that would best accommodate him. Due to some miscommunication, the treasure hunt was lost along the way.

My husband and I would still like to provide him the experience of a treasure hunt on the beach and are happy to pay an outside company to help us make it happen. Does anyone have any ideas of private excursion companies that might be willing to help us? It doesn't have to be anything elaborate. He's 6 and he's picturing a map that leads to a chest with junk in it. Our ports are Labadee, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

    I would love any advice!

If you PM me with your personal email address, I believe I may be able to help you out. My son received a wish and I have a contact that I can get in touch with.

  8. I'm not sure if it changed again in the past month, but a week before our Allure cruise in Nov/Dec of this year, they changed the old Next Booking to a new format. They still have open booking but you don't get the OBC you used to get. Now to get the OBC on the next cruise, you have to pick a booking. We booked a random Harmony cruise that we plan to change only to get 300 obc on the next cruise. We received 100 obc on the current cruise and had a 100 charge for a three person deposit on our cc when we got home (which we were fully aware of).

  9. JS are worth the upgrade over a D1 (or similar balcony room) if one is traveling with kids. We find the extra room, especially when we needed to have a crib setup, necessary to an enjoyable, bearable really, in room experience. But we always book towards a budget/time of the year with considerations. If it was a set week like the OP is looking for and the difference is that great, I'd stick with the balcony for that money. Wondering what the jump to a GS would be? And wondering how many JS are left on that sailing. Likely a limited amount. I know the jump to a JS from a D1 for us is never that much and that's for three and not two people!
