Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. A bit off topic. Are you allowed to bring liquor aboard to enjoy in your cabin?
  2. Please forgive me for popping on the Ocean cruise forum but thought you could help. We are on a pre-trip excursion with Viking River and wondered what the tipping guidelines were for the Director we have been for four days and driver. They have been excellent and we are being turned over to another team tomorrow. We have paid the gratuities already for the river cruise. Thank you so much.
  3. Be sure to have extra self tests and proctored tests. As of now you need to have negative test to return to US. Be sure to take self test first to ensure you are negative before the proctored test. We tested positive after our cruise and couldn’t fly home for six days when we both tested negative. Please plan for unexpected.
  4. We sailed in Aqua for two weeks in February. Love Blu and the ship. Would not do suite for Reflection. We just were in SS on Apex and loved it be because of private decks. Would go with Aqua on Reflection. Regardless, you will love either.
  5. We recently got off the Apex TA and became friends with a group young men (30’s-40’s) traveling together. We would run into them on the Retreat Sun Deck and Luminae. One night we were having dinner at the Roof Top Garden Grill and I noticed something strange … someone was walking around in a Shark “onesie” and said to my husband … who would do that! Turns out I was wrong — it was a dinosaur 🦖. Seems this group had picked a happy hour to dress in a onesie. There were lumberjacks, Elmo, a Cookie Monster and, of course, the dinosaur. They had so much fun and brought smiles to everyone they saw. In case you’re curious they changed before going to dinner “since it wasn’t dining attire”.
  6. It’s Wednesday afternoon and will take additional tests tonight and keeping testing till Friday morning and hope for negative test for my husband. My anxiety level is rising … no symptoms at all … we would not be able to get Certificate of Recovery for 10 more days (I think in Netherlands). I’ve seen places for Certificate on line in 5 or 7 days but can’t seem to find guidelines. If i only lived in Canada …
  7. We did not test on the ship so we are assuming no assistance with Celebrity. We are quarantining and hoping for negative test soon. We loved the cruise but do not see us on a cruise out if the country in the future while the rules remain the same.
  8. We got off the Apex on Saturday and were symptom free though there many cases on Board. Enjoyed two great days in Amsterdam. On Monday morning we decided to self test to ease our minds before flying home on Friday. Our tests were positive so we went to a PRC test site and again were positive. We are feeling well, now quarantining in our room. We will test daily and hope for a negative test by Thursday night. We think worst case scenario would be we could get a certificate of recovery after 10 days. We are grateful not to have symptoms. I’m posting here to see if anyone sees a flaw my logic. Yesterday was quite a stressful day; today just wrapping my head around the changes.
  9. I hate this policy … Ive been sober for 33 years and a diabetic — so no juice or mocktails for me. Guess my husband will be paying by the drink while the others get the packages. Honestly seems a bit discriminatory to me. Oh well …
  10. Thanks so much. I will suggest to my husband!
  11. Last cruise I decided that for me the discount wasn’t worth the worry for the savings. I just made individual reservations so I was able to have reservations I wanted. It’s an option. Having said that, on board they will try to accommodate you. Happy Sailing.
  12. We usually purchase a length of cruise pass for my husband once we board (if we aren’t in AQ). Today I called to see what the price would be for our TA and was told since it was not available online all the passes were sold out — though I never saw as an option. Does anyone has any guidance. We leave on Saturday on the Apex. Thanks!
  13. We sail on Saturday and I had checked in weeks ago both at same time. Today I noticed that I can board the Apex at 11:30. My husband won’t be able to join me till 1:30. I thought no worries … first time in SS so will call Retreat Host … how easy would that be. She told me that unfortunately she can’t change boarding time but he should be able to board with me. I mentioned I thought Retreat boarding was at 11:30 and she replied that was not true. All of the above may be in fact true and she was professional but … question do you think I’ll be having lunch on board while Charlie is hanging out in the terminal 😊
  14. I bet his asks very nicely — Im sure he doesn’t come across as the folks I mentioned! It is a great conversation starter but some feel like they are asking for other reasons. Happy cruising.
  15. It seems to me (E+) that many times we are asked by others we meet about how many cruises we’ve taken, what cruise lines and what type of cabins we book. I have a standard polite response — “We’ve been fortunate that we have been able to cruise over the years in all sorts of cabins.” That is all anyone needs to know …
