  1. Late, late post from me. Yes, I know it is "tomorrow" for many of you. Someday this move will be over. Saw how everything is set up for the estate sale starting Thursday, and of course, I had some very "weepy" times. It seemed as if it was my whole life before me with price tags on it. I promise, after the 15th, no more move talk! I have read the Daily, but can't find time to post on most days. I pray for all those with so many issues, and rejoice with so many who have great things going on! If I start mentioning someone, I am sure I would be remiss in not mentioning others. I think of all in this special "Dailly" family. Just one mention - @RMLincoln, your picture of enchiladas brought back so many happy memories of the 9 wonderful years that we lived in Las Cruces. From some of what you have said, did you live in Ruidoso, as that seems to relate to what you write. Like you, I miss NM, but will be content with what life has handed me. Have a great night and even better August 9, everyone! Mary Kay
  2. Move is 95% complete. Finally got my internet up and working late today. Has been a hard few days. Still need to clean fridge and freezer at old place. Then there is estate sale next week. I have several days to read to get caught up with the Daily. Prayers for all on the Cares list. Have a good evening! Mary Kay
  3. It is quite late here, so don't know if anyone will read this, but this is a "fun" Father-in-law story. My DFIL married my DM, so he became my Step-Father, and my DM became my MIL!! This was quite a number of years AFTER my DH and I were married! Have a great Monday, if I don't get back here tomorrow! Mary Kay
  4. Very late for me posting. I get to read almost every day, but posting gets questionable, since I am in the "moving" mode. Almost everything done, and am though with the emotion! I have purged until there is no more. Will be glad when this is all over on Tuesday!!!!! I laugh with the Dailyites, cry with you and and pray for those in difficult situations. As we all grow older we lose so many of those so precious to all of us. So many are going through so many difficulties, and I wish I could be there for any and all of you! We have two wildfires in our Red Cross territory - one that started on Wednesday at 600 acres and now is at almost 1,000 acres with 1% containment! The other one is smaller and think that the wonderful firefighters are gaining control! When I went to a meeting in another county on Thursday saw another wildfire that is "contained" but will take a season ending snowfall to finally put it out! We need rain (monsoon)! Have a good evening everyone and hope that the rest of the weekend brings love and contentment to all! Mary Kay
  5. I am up early this morning, as I have to be at the pulmonologist by 9:30. These earlier appointments will be easier when I get moved. And the "packing, sorting, purging saga" continues, with all the emotions still attached. I just have to comment on Pioneer Day. I lived in Utah from age 5-14, so I really grew up with Pioneer Day as part of our annual events. My parents would buy fireworks for us before July 4th, but we had to save 1/2 of the fireworks for the 24th. One of my grandmother's birthdays was July 24, so it has always been a day etched in my memory. I am not a member of the LDS Church, but have always had such respect for them, as their people were always so kind to us, especially after my DF died when I was 13. If time permits, will post again later. Hope everyone has a great day. Prayers for those on the Cares List! Mary Kay
  6. Good morning to all! It is a beautiful morning here, although quite warm. Think we will be way over 100 today. It was 108 about 5pm yesterday when I joined family for trivia with the DGGrandkids at the local brewpub. Lots of fun, but we ended up tied for 4th among about 12 teams. And still the downsizing, purging continues. Things are moving along, but I am hating the hard decisions that I am having to make. Guess that it will all be worth it when my big move is done, but right now I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was happy to see that monsoon rain had started in AZ. Last week when I was on a county call, the NWS predicted AZ monsoon toward the end of this week, and then ours to start in about another week. Surely hope that this is right, as we are having too many small fires. So far, firefighters are getting the upper hand, but it is scary to think something bad could pop up at any time. I am reading the Daily most days, and want to respond, but time isn't allowing. I send prayers to all those in need, and I love when many are celebrating happy times. My thoughts are with all! Have a great day, everyone! Mary Kay
  7. Quick post today from me. Just wanted to update all who understood my angst with my major downsizing ordeal. Guess what, when I threatened to dispose of all of the genealogy information that I had my DstepD, and my DSis suddenly wanted to have the info!!! Thanks to @P&PNHfor your offer on the DAR info. The patriots were Isaac Perry and in another branch, Stephen Hopkins (signer of the declaration). The lady who has the company that will move me and do an estate sale for me is coming this afternoon, so I am hoping that clears my brain a little about this daunting task! Our weather is typical summer, with high 90's but no rain. Hurry up monsoons. Hope that the damages from the terrific rain are minimal. The weather patterns are so scary. With all the snow there was in Colorado, there are some areas that are not open for hiking in the very high mountains. Of course, the wildfire threat is ever present, with one that has been burning for over a week quite near here. My continued prayers for all those on the Cares List. And happy dances for those celebrating! Have a good Monday, everyone. Mary Kay
  8. Fairly early for me, but I am up early for several phone calls, and maybe a trip into Grand Junction today! It is only 76 with a high of 98 anticipated. Maybe yes, maybe no on going to the concert in the park this evening! Not a cloud in the sky, but late afternoon clouds seem to arrive every day with no rain. At least most of the Colorado wildfires are fairly small (Plus or minus 3000 acres). My prayers for all those on the Cares list. Wish the list were shorter and the Happy times list was longer. Special prayers for Baby Murphy today. Sorting, and tossing has become my way of life. It is daunting to know how much more I still have to do. I still get very emotional about doing all of this. Almost 53 years of memories just in the times since I married DH. @Quartzsite CruiserI have a large tub of genealogy stuff that I am not sure whether I should keep or just send to the shredding company. No one in my family wants the stuff on my side, and can't determine whether DH's kids want all of that information. (There were some interesting ancestors in DH's family - on his Mother's side they qualify for membership in the DAR, so that is a possibility, if anyone were interested). @StLouisCruisers, my thoughts are with you on the dermatologist visit. Hope there is NOTHING! My scars are healing fairly well, and I have my last visit to the plastic surgeon in a couple of weeks. The top of my head and part of my forehead are still numb. Have a great day everyone. Stay out of the bad air quality for all those still suffering those ill effects of such large wildfires. Mary Kay
  9. Before the day gets away from me (as it usually does), I will try to get a post in. I have learned one very important thing in preparing for my major move! Total downsizing is so hard, both physically and emotionally. I have embarked on this project with the mindset of "If I don't figure out how to get rid of xxxx, then the kids will just be putting xxxx into a dumpster when I am gone." I have contributed to the weekly trash bins, sent stuff for recycling, and found new homes for other things. One thing I just learned is that Best Buy will take 3 electronic devices per day per person for recycling for free! Got the last of several items dropped off there yesterday. My appointment with the relocation/estate sale company will be on July 10, and then I will have a sense of what comes next. Next week I am going to have the 3 step-kids and their spouses come and pick out things they want to have in their homes. @luvteaching, my heart aches for you and you have my condolences and prayers for your peace. You showed such grace during your late DH's final days and months. Your new journey will take strength but you will honor Phil as you progress. Trust me, it is a difficult one. @smitty34877, prayers for you and your family as you work through the problems and setbacks with your DH's surgery aftermath. Also prayers for stability with Tana's IPF. Amazingly, our AQI is good, unlike most of the nation(s). We have a fire less than 50 miles away that exploded on Monday, but that smoke is mostly going toward the East. So far, no evacuations. It is a hard fire to fight as most of it is in very rugged area. The weather service just put out that the arrival of monsoon season seems to be delayed. My continued prayers go out for those on the Cares List and now baby Murphy. Have a great day everyone. Mary Kay
  10. I had a milk shake that wasn’t charged above and beyond the HIA! And it was yummy.
  11. Will try to post before the days gets away from me. That has happened for the last couple of days. My healing seems to be going quite well. I can wear my glasses for a period of time, but still have them off periodically as there is still some swelling in my nose. All is good!!!! My downsizing has begun. I am starting to go through stuff, and make some very hard choices, but I know this is just part of the relocation woes. At least I can get through stuff that I am holding on to, such as too much paperwork. I will be taking lots to UPS for shredding! It is just beautiful here today, with sunny clear skies. It is only forecast to be in 80's today as opposed to our normal June temps of 90's. We did have a decent rain on Thursday night (local outdoor concert was cancelled). It almost seems like the monsoons are setting up, which is about a month early. Just as an aside, there is SNOW today on Vail Pass. Welcome to Colorado where it can snow 12 months of the year. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement on my planned move to a seniors apartment. @durangoscotswhen will I see you in GJ? At least we have slightly more flights from here than you have in Durango. With better airline connections, though, it still looks like it is going to be very complicated for me to get to Quebec City in September for my Zuiderdam cruise! Back to purging! Enjoy the weekend. Mary Kay
  12. An update from overcast Western Colorado. My recovery from the second surgery is going well, and I will get my stitches out later this afternoon. @JazzyV, I can come off the Cares list as there are others with many more needs. I still can't wear my glasses, and not sure how long it will be to return to normal in that aspect of life. I appreciate all the prayers and good wishes. One thing I have learned through this ordeal is that as a living alone senior, I can't handle some aspects of life very well. My step-kids have all been wonderful, but I don't want to be a burden on them. So, in August I will be moving to a seniors apartment complex where I won't even have to cook, clean, or handle transportation (if necessary). Of course, this entails a huge downsizing from 1600 sf duplex to less than 800 sf one bedroom apartment. After 45-1/2 years of marriage, and 6+ years of widowhood, I have done upsizing and downsizing depending on various moves. Now, this will be the big one. I am happy with my decision, but wondering how I will get it all done. I am lucky in that there is a senior relocation company that I can utilize. The happy part is that I can travel any time I want (BHB here I come), and not have to worry about anything! As things get easier with seeing, I will try to post more! My continued prayers for those on the Cares list and I am so happy for those with joyous occasions (and cruises)! Have a great day, everyone. Mary Kay
  13. Greetings! It is a good day for me! Thank you to all who wished me well with my second surgery. All went well, and finally I will be able to begin to re-enter the real world. I put my glasses on last night, and shouldn't have. Had some minor bleeding around my stitches. Guess I will give that idea a rest for a couple of more days so that more healing can take place. Surgery went very fast, and I was sitting up in the bed before they even got my step-daughter in the room. Worst part of the whole thing that it was scheduled for 4:15 pm and the doctor was running behind. Oh well, I lived. Needless to say I was very hungry when we got home. Stayed by myself last night. Again, thanks to all for concern and well wishes. I will be able to post more in a few days! (When I can wear my glass3s). Have a great rest of the day, everyone. Mary Kay
  14. Good afternoon and Happy Sunday. Am not sure the I posted last, but I truly enjoy "reading" as much as I can without my glasses! Still using readers perched along my chin which is not fun! I honestly don't think I have ever had a surgery or an illness that has defeated me as much as this plastic surgery. I can't go out (don't want to frighten anyone with the mess on my nose), can't drive out of my little town, and have nothing to occupy time except TV! I will be so happy to have the second surgery on Thursday and then those stitches will come out on June 15. Hopefully, my life will return to somewhat normal after that! It is a beautiful sunny day in Western Colorado and we haven't had much rain in the past week or two. Still holding out breath with the high waters in the Colorado. Hope that it helps Lakes Powell and Mead! So far no flooding that has impacted people much and caused damages. My prayers for all on the Cares list, and congratulations to those celebrating! Have a great rest of the day. Mary Kay
  15. Put in Non-legalese language, if OP is buying OBC it is their money and they can use it for anything they want to!
  16. Happy Monday afternoon. Around this senior's complex we always know when the work week starts as that is "mowing" day! The new lawn service brings in about 10 large riding mowers, and about 20 extra workers to man the blowers and trimmers! All done before about 3 in the afternoon. Previous companies used to take 3 days to mow! The pictures today from Norway have been stunning! When I was younger that was a country that I wanted to visit, and then over the years I sort of forgot about it! Now, it is my new dream destination on a BHB! Can't do it till next summer, but I am going to start investigating! I finally figured out why I am still on the Tylenol wagon. When the plastic surgery was done, they must have used some sort of "clamp' to hold my head still while under anesthesia. The top of my head is still numb and I get recurring pain from two sore spots on each side of my forehead. Imagine that the same thing will happen with my second surgery, as there will be cutting close to my eye! Wish I had been warned about this, but guess it doesn't matter, as it is something I have to live with! Prayers for all on the Cares List. It looks like more are preparing for their cruises which is so fun! Have a great day, everyone! Mary Kay
  17. Happy Sunday! Hope this is a good day for all. It is bright and sunny here today in Western Colorado! Not as hazy as yesterday, so evidently upper winds are clearing the air for us today. Last night I was sitting in my living room with front door open and eyes started burning. Evidently smoke from somewhere. Easy solution - just close the door! @rafinmd thank you for mentioning me in connection with Red Cross. Sometimes I feel I must have been with Clara Barton when she started things off. I have been volunteering since'98 when Florida was burning up! @Cruzin Terri, hope that your husband's recovery goes very quickly after the stitches are out. I didn't have stitches after the MOHS, but my stitches are now out from the first part of the plastic surgery regime, with the 2nd plastic surgery in June. I hate the way my face looks now, but guess it will all be great when it is finally over. Thursday I applied to renew TSA pre-check and it came back approved within 4 hours. I honestly thought it took longer than that. Guess all they really wanted was my money!! Hope everyone has a great rest of the day. It is off to watch NASCAR for me quite shortly! Sending prayers for all on the Cares list. Mary Kay
  18. My sincere condolences to you era d your entire family. Sending prayers
  19. Good afternoon. Today has been an interesting day for me. Managed to go for groceries today. I can drive without glasses, but would feel more comfortable if I could wear them. Oh well, I can do that in about a month!! I only drive here in my little town and certainly wouldn't try to go to Grand Junction. We visited Loreto in 2002 on the Random. I loved that little town - at that time it was one of the cleanest and most charming Mexican towns I had ever seen. Doing a Sea of Cortez cruise again would be something that I should investigate for the future. Don't have any pictures to share, but have enjoyed the ones shared today! It is somewhat cloudy today, so who knows if we will get some rain. Just read that the Front Range is getting smoke from the Canadian fires. So far, nothing here. Surely hope that the fires are contained soon. Have a great evening, everyone. I truly enjoy the contributions of all. Mary Kay
  20. Good morning! Very early post from me, as I got up at 5am. So far, have taken out the trash for collection today, run the dishwasher (in time for today's honor), caught up on Red Cross emails, and updated several things on various devices. Recovery from first plastic surgery is going and going! I really can't go out too much without a bandage on my "forehead flap" and a big floppy hat. This is not an attractive look, and I don't want to inadvertently scare some younger child! Can't wait till June 8 and 2nd surgery! Life without glasses is quite challenging. I would be doing lots of reading, but that is not possible. Readers perched on my chin are quite the look! It looks like a beautiful day although last night's TV weather indicated that we might be in for some rain over the next few days. Rivers, creeks and streams are very high all over Western Colorado. Just hope this water can help refill Lakes Powell and Mead. I love NYC as a cruise port. Just spent two days there on Rotterdam on 150th TA cruise. Have also sailed in and out on Zuiderdam, and a River cruise. My photos are much the same as those already posted. At least this last time I finally made it to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island - two bucket list items. Think I will head back to bed and see if I can get another couple hours of sleep. Have a great day everyone. Thanks to all who make this "The Place to Visit." Mary Kay
  21. Quick post and hopefully more later. @Cruzin Terri, so happy that MOHS surgery only involved one pass. My last one was two passes- hence my current plastic surgery. Hope the numbness in your husband’s head clears quickly.
  22. Very late post from me. May take an hourto do this. I still can’t wear my glasses and won’t be able to until after my second round of plastic surgery. Got the stitches out late today and knowmy second date is June 8 with stitch removal on June 15. My Mothers Day present from my stepdaughter is a pair of readers that is wider than usual. I can rest them at my chin. My attitude has improved a lot which means I must be feeling better. Have been able todo some laundry and actually been able to tidy up from my lackadaisical few days of inactivity! @superomaPlease take me and my stepson off the cares list. He has had good news after 3rd surgery, and I will be recovering to prepare for next go-round. Thanks to everyone who posts and to those who add valuable info for all of us. Have a good weekend, everyone! Mary Kay
  23. Just a quick, short update. Can't read much. Can't get my glasses on - swollen nose, with stitches, and still lots of bruising. Hate this whole thing, and to think I have to go through it again in about 3-4 weeks. My take on things - Cancer Suck@. Sorry for my language, but---. Till I can post again, thoughts and prayers for all. Mary Kay
  24. Very late post. There may be typos. My surgery went fine yesterday. Today, swelling on nose, forehead, and down my nose. Incision has split open (doc see okay), black eyes. Can't wear my glasses so really can't see much. I look like a took a gun to a KNIFE fight and lost at the first blow!
  25. Imagine my post actually being on Page 1! Could it mean that I am up way too early. Had to get up to eat a piece of toast 4 hours before my surgery! At least it is fairly early. As I am looking out the window, the clouds are a beautiful pink hue. Guess that is "Red Sky in the morning." Wonder what is in store weather wise? Hope it continues on a cooler trend, especially east of here. Spent yesterday on several Red Cross calls. Road closures, bridges under water, etc. Will make this short. Prayers for all on the cares list. Thanks to all who make this place so special!. Mary Kay
