  1. Hi all, I hope you are all staying safe wherever you are! I can't wait until we can cruise safely again and in cruise withdrawl. I have a question that maybe someone can help me with. I am trying to find a list of cruises on the Cunard website. I know I used to be able to log in and find them but cannot do that now. Is that still available or do they not do it any longer? Thank you for you help in advance.
  2. Thank you for your response shipgeeks! I just noticed that we also have to include copies of our Diamond Status card from Cunard, and of course my other half did not keep his card. Do you know if we can send a copy of mine only, and then include his information...will that suffice? Or, if not, when we book our cruise with MSC, do both of us get the benefits of the higher member? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi Richard, we are Cunard Diamond as well and have been thinking about doing our first cruise on MSC in 2022. Can you tell me some information please? Do you sign up for an account first or status match first? And then book a cruise? I tried to check their FAQ and am still confused about the order of things. Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. Thank you for taking us along on your cruise Kathi and keeping us abreast of the happenings on the ship. I hope you arrive home safely and healthy.
  5. Hi Christine, No problem and I hope you had a good time on QV. The Island Highlights is a scenic drive with stops at a local market, the Theological College and Robert Louis Stevenson's house. The Essence of Upolu is a scenic drive with stops at Plum Pudding Rock, Botanical Gardens with a presentation about the daily life of Samoans, and then to Tafatafa Beach where you are served a BBQ luncheon. Just keep in mind that this information came from our excursion booklet that was from our 2015 cruise, so may be different now.
  6. Glad to be following you along again with your blog! Have a great time and thank you for taking us along!
  7. Oh thank you very much! That is very helpful and I will let my friends know that option.
  8. Hi, we were on a longer cruise on QE in 2015 and I found my shore excursion booklet (yes, I keep these kind of things...lol). On Apia, at that time, there were 5 excursions. Island Highlights - 3.5 hr Coastal Villages & Tropical Gardens - 3.5 hr Essence of Upolu - 6.5 hr Aggie Grey's Beach Resort & Cultural Show - 5.5 hr Samoan Culture & Organic Plantation - 3 hr I think that we just walked around the town which was just off the ship. We first walked left off the ship and then came back and went right. If you have any further questions, I will try to help.
  9. Thanks for your replies. It will be next year in March when my friends will be arriving. I appreciate any information you find out. Thank you!
  10. HI everyone! I was hoping someone here would have the answer for me. We were wondering where the ship shuttle drops off in Melbourne? We would like to meet up with friends and would like to figure out a meeting point. Thanks for your help!
  11. I will give it a try from an online TA. M203C 10 Jan 22 Grand Voyage 71 Southampton, New York, St. Thomas, Tortola, Curacao, Dominica, St. Lucia, Barbados, Salvador, Sao Paulo, Puerto Madryn, Punta Arenas, Montevideo (overnight in port), Rio de Janeiro (overnight in port), Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, New York, Southampton
  12. Hi Bill and Mary, thanks for the great trip report as always! On a side note, when in Samoa was there any notification about the current measles outbreak? Just read a news update on the subject.
  13. Hello to you all! We are contemplating booking our first MSC cruise early next year and have been reading this informative thread. I still have lots to learn/research regarding MSC but was wondering if for my first question, you all may be able to answer it. For the status match, has anyone used Cunard? We are platinum with Cunard and was wondering what match we will most like receive. Also, what kind of confirmation documents do you need to show them? Thank you most kindly, in advance!
  14. Yes, I agree Gil, looks like we will have to try looking at other cruise lines.
  15. You have the best story telling ability that keeps me coming back for more! You and your camera are brilliant! The shots you got were amazingly beautiful! We just got back last month from our first Alaska cruise and wish we could've had your advice of "bring the binoculars" because you are so right in that they can make a huge difference to your experience. Thank you so very much for taking us with you on your adventure!
  16. We just got back in June from an Alaskan cruise, our first. In Juneau, we were there for two different days. One day we booked the Mendenhall Glacier explorer which took us to the MG Park and we walked around on our own and it was a beautiful day. The second day we booked the whale watching from Cunard and that was a great day too. After both of our excursions, we walked around the town to see the local sites. In Skagway, we first thought about doing the train but after hearing about the hair-raising turns and such we decided on another experience. Rather than book with Cunard we booked with Dyea Dave and his full day tour to Emerald Lake and boy what a great idea that was! It was more in depth than cruise line tours and we got to stop where we wanted to plus we were on an 18 person van and only had 6 people! They were very informative and accommodating. They showed us the usual spots plus others that the cruise line did not. It was the best full day tour at half the price! They have great reviews and we were glad to try it.
  17. Thanks Kathi! We just came back last month from our QE to Alaska cruise and it was good to see a reminder of our time in Juneau! Actually, we had two days there, the first on Thursday and then again on the following Saturday so now check the Juneau webcam a bit just for memory sake How are you?.
  18. Yep as navy says, you can fill from the dispensers in the Lido, for QE, using the intermediate container. We just came off QE and saw this quite a bit and I was so glad because years ago that was not the case.
  19. We stayed at the Intercontinental so the language was a problem there. There are a lot of signs in English as far as restaurants, buildings, shops, etc but they don't have street signs like we are used to. The only port, of those you listed, that we went to was Aomori. We originally booked an excursion but then cancelled so we could just walk around ourselves (we had two weeks in Japan prior to the cruise). In Aomori, as I just was saying, we walked to the ASPAM building which wasn't much but did have tourist info. There was a fold museum in town that you could walk to or if you feel comfortable there was the train to Hirosaki Castle that was cheaper than Cunard's excursion. We also walked to the two shopping centers to have a look and they weren't much different than we're used to but interesting to see. We went to the Wa-Rasse Museum and there was an admission fee. The exhibits were in Japanese but you could look at the many floats and they were interesting to see all the detail. I don't know about the other two ports, sorry.
  20. I know that is what everybody said, but that is what they told us "permanent". Hopefully they will see the downfall in this.
  21. Yes the times were changed on our cruise as well (5-31May). Many people who had booked 6pm for their dining times were disgusted and either went to the matre'd or were told "just show up at 5 minutes until 6" (I guess that gave them time to still order and eat their meal). We were told that this was the new times and were started for Japan and Alaska. When asked if they were permanent, we were told yes. I do, however, think that if many people complain that could change. We like to eat early so it was not too much of a problem for us. For days when in port, the MDR was pretty much empty and the Lido quite full.
  22. We just got back from our cruise on QE Yokohama to Vancouver for 27 nights and it was truly amazing! The seas were calm, mostly and we were told that was rare. I can try to answer questions for you.
  23. We just got back from that cruise and had an amazing time! Alaska is truly beautiful! We had calm waters the majority of the time and the one or two days that we felt movement it was only slight. Everyone that had done it before said that was rare and that we were lucky! I am so glad of that!
