They just announce they are boarding group 3 -- we are group 6.... I saw people with no. 13 -- and I'm sure there are higher.

Hi all,
We will be sailing on Serenade with an almost-3-year old in December. Can anyone speak to the family programs on board for the Royal Tots. I can't find any updated info on RCCL's site since they stopped the partnership with Fisher-Price.
We are planning to have her in the nursery one (maybe two) evenings and for a few hours during one or two of our days. Good to hear the nursery is so great - we've only had her in the Disney one prior.

Hi all,
Our cruise line released shore excursion options for our cruise next year - our daughter will be almost 3, and these two sounded good.
Flamingo Salt Tour
City Tour by Trolley Train
We've never been to this island.
Would love input on how the above are with/for kids.
Thanks!

We were spoiled on Disney with an in-room curtain that separated the bed from the sitting area (we had our daughter in a pack n play).
We're sailing next year on the Serenade. I was looking at pictures and there seemed to be a curtain - is it decorative or does it open? If it does open - how much of the room does it cover.
Thanks!

I saw the notice that AO is diaper and pull-up free....our daughter will be 34 months when we cruise on the Serenade (two months later and she could be in the AO program). We plan to have her in programs in the nursery, and general family programs around the ship, but does the AO have family open houses where we can accompany her to the activities and stay with her?

Trust me, Jewel is fabulous and is the only ship left in the fleet with a Sea View Café. She is gorgeous. :) If we could sail her again and again before her refurb, we certainly would. Oh, and shower doors to boot!
.
It's our favorite ship, too! :D And ditto on the shower doors!

I heard and read somewhere April 2016 as well. Jewel is the newest of the Radiance class so it makes sense they saved her for last. I was on Jewel in 2012 and she was in very good shape then.
That nursery would have been so great to have though. If you look at the list there are newer ships than Jewel that are getting updates earilier.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but I found this on the RCCL site:

As a future Jewel sailor - I was curious why every ship is getting an update - except Jewel. Especially since the page says:
No ship goes untouched as we add favorite features from our groundbreaking Oasis-class ships to our entire fleet. Because you deserve the ultimate Royal Caribbean experience, no matter which ship, ocean or continent you choose. The only thing I can think is that maybe Jewel is part of the 2015 update and hasn't been added yet. Any recent Jewel passengers (or anyone else) know what's going on?

That stinks. So, the Royal Tots programming is basically a 45 minute play group that is organized by AO for the little ones. That is basically it for daily support. If you wait till your child is 3, and he/she is potty-trained, you can use AO. Our son never wanted to leave the pool, so we only used AO for maybe 4-5 hours total, but the little bit we did use was great. Jewel does have adventure beach, a kids pool. Need to be potty trained to use, but if you have that, you can spend a lot of time playing in there. Our son was over naps, but between pool, sea air, and sun, he was taking late afternoon naps, so my wife and I would alternate who got some free time to explore.
Thank you for clarifying.
We love the ship - and this will be DD's 4th cruise (1 carnival, two Disney). By then she might be potty trained (which would be great). I'm wondering if they would expand to additional programs by that point. Our Coastal Cruise is pretty port intensive - so we wouldn't be hanging around too many days. We were just curious what the options were if we wanted an evening at Portofinos or Chops.
-
Curious to see what programs will be added as a result - we like doing activities with DD.

There is a thread on the family forum where this is being tracked. Last I saw, they are still lending toys, but the toys will not be exclusively Fisher Price.
I am not familiar with what Jewel has - has it been upgraded with the nursery? If so, you will have more options. We used the in-room baby sitting. It costs $19 per hour, and they send two people to your room. You need to request this in advance and Guest Services will let you know the next morning if they can accommodate your request.
Thank you for the Family forum tip - with search being down I can't find anything.
There is no nursery on Jewel (at least right now). Maybe they will add it by next October.

The simple version: if you board a ship in one US city and debark in another US city from the same ship it's illegal. If you start in the US, you must either end in the same city or in another country.
You have to have some foreign posts in the middle - otherwise there would never be any Panama canal cruises

Hi fellow cruisers,
I noticed that Fisher Price is no longer providing programs to the ships. We are taking the Jewel next year with an almost 3-year old and was hoping someone could speak to the programs and activities that might be offered, as well as any evening babysitting options.

Although we do have an October 3 Roll Call :)
So excited to sail RCCL from our homeport. We miss the weekend cruises and were thinking of taking Princess (lowest level status). But now that we can cruise with Diamond status - we are very excited!
And we adore the Jewel!
It might only be a few cruises, but we'll take it while it is there. And the thought of not having to fly is very appealing.

Hi all (and happy new year),
Just wondering if there is a place on the Jewel (inside or outside) that you consider the most romantic. I'm trying to get some ideas of places to take DH on our May cruise. :p
-
So glad to hear such wonderful things about Jewel. My husband and I are taking her on the May 17 trip to the Baltic.
Thanks for the great tips!

RCCL Alaska Cruisetour With Kids
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
Hi all,
It has been 20 years since I've been on an Alaska cruisetour (not on RCCL). I remember the destinations being pretty family friendly.
I'm curious if any of you have done it with a preschooler (we'll be traveling prior to our Radiance cruise).
Anything we should keep in mind?
