  1. YOur biggest obstacle will be roaming charges on the data. You would do well to keep it to wifi access (and even that gets expensive on a ship)

I plan to bring my iPad on a 14-day HAL cruise next month. I was advised at an Apple store to get a prepaid GSM sim card once I get there so that I can keep in touch with family on 3-4 week tour of Australia and New Zealand. (Hopefully one card works for both countries!) I don't see myself using it for anything but email. I'll probably avoid use aboard ship altogether, unless there is an emergency need to do so.

Is this doable? I really don't want to spend a lot of money and a lot of time with my eyes focused on the screen instead of the scenery.:D

  2. My sister and I, Minnesota and Michigan residents will be cruising on the Radiance of the Seas November 20, 2011. Looking forward to Australia and New Zealand sites.

Anybody going on the 10/24/11 HAL cruise to Australia and New Zealand aboard the Volendam? We're coming from NJ, so we have some concerns about the air travel to Auckland. How many hours? We do have a day layover in LA coming and going. Would appreciate suggestions, tips on packing - we always bring too much and yet find we left behind important stuff! I hate doing laundry on sea days - there's too much else I'd rather do on those days. It's an overall 27 day trip (cruise is 14 days), so an overnight bag won't do it.

  3. Wow thanks for all the helpful information that you have provided, I will print off all the details and use it when I am in Copenhagen.

Thank you also for the info about pick pockets etc

I also plan to print out a lot of the great info. Don't think we'll be able to see much of Copenhagen I'm afraid.

We arrive by air around 8 a.m. and the ship sails at 5 p.m. Since we're being transferred from airport to ship and after checking in, etc., will we have time to get off the ship and do some sightseeing before 5 p.m.?

On our return, the ship docks at 8 a.m. and our plane leaves at 2:30 p.m. What would you suggest?
