  1. Should be able to do that. But there is an entrance fee to the park. The Eco portion is legit. There are animals around and swampy marshes. Of course you can just not stop at any of the siting spots and just go to the lighthouse and climb the stairs. Highly suggest you stop at Rasta's/Bob Marley's/ Paradise Grill (not the same as Paradise Beach) on the way back for really good seafood. It's right outside the entrance.
  2. can't speak on $$ but there are plenty of masseuses standing around begging for business all up and down the malecon.
  3. I would be curious a time goes on how the Empire Supper Club is faring. If it gets fully booked nightly and/or if UDP folks are coughing up an extra $130. Right now doesn't seem worth anything more than 150 Central on other ships. We might go 3 meal UDP and then explore other complimentary venues unless MDR starts getting raves and good selections.
  4. Miguel's practically next door to BB. Can't recall if ressies are needed.

Actually the port has expanded a lot. 2 stories. Kiosks and shops with usual merch. Several bars and places to eat . There are a couple of spots just outside the port complex to your right toward the dock with the ferry to Maya Key. To your left about 1/4 mile is Captain Jack's and there's another place with a zip line supposedly connected to the port. These are local so don't expect resort type atmosphere.
  6. Dutch Panacake House in the Rennaisance Marketplace down LG Smith Blvd. And then up in Palm Beach Linda's Dutch Pancakes ( an institution). Prices range from $12.50-$19.50 depending upon the fillings/toppings. DIY start at $7.50 and fillings/toppings are around $2.50 each. And Diane's Pancake Place (unknown quality or prices).
  7. Big discussion on the other site that shant be named. Someone posted a picture. Really not that big of a deal, but would have been nice if cabins were labeled as such. Early deck plans didn't mention and there were no real cabin pictures available for those booking pre-inagural cruise.
  8. Ship time unless announced differently by ship on arrival.
  9. As far as I've seen there are no changes in what's available at Governors Beach. If you want food and drink you have to bring it with you. If only going to GB, golf cart is a waste of $. You're 3/4 the way there by the time you get outside the port to the rental sites. Taxi rates are $4 per person. But not sure about catching a taxi back to the cruise center.
  10. If these are CBD gummies and you take them in your carry on and do not carry the container out of your cabin , or off the ship and do not leave it out for cabin stewards to see, no one will know. Security at port doesn't check carry ons unless they detect something in the scanner, typically liquor or wine bottles. Foreign port authorities don't come on ships to search cabins for gummies unless there is another reason for them to search your particular cabin. You do run the risk of being stopped for anything outside of the ship while in port and the authorities confiscating your product. If your gummies are labelled as containing THC, you might run a different set of risks. Medical marijuana products are still against Federal law, but a doctor's prescription might carry weight for bringing on board. Just don't take it off ship. And for those flaming, CBD oil is NOT medical marijuana.
  11. Just be advised that the Distillery is about 10 miles from the cruise piers. Shouldn't take that long to get to but you'll most likely need the taxi to wait for you. I think their website offers reservations for tours and also round trip tickets, not sure what's covered. But enjoy. I've had their 4 Star in a snifter, would love to try the 5 Star. Hopefully you can get a good price on any bottles you can buy at the distillery.
  12. I know from teh Wonder that Sugar Beach does not accept UDP, it's only ice cream. Trellis Bar is supposedly going to serve bar type snacks for a charge. Basecamp is mostly free but some items will have a charge. so maybe they'll apply UDP credit. Desserted is probably a place for your son, there is a charge for items.
  13. Or stay in port and go down to your right to Beached Whale. More shade and quieter than Margaritaville side. Also, I don't recall shade at Jacks outside renting an umbrella or sitting at the bar.
  14. I walked by last week. The beach side sign is still up , but upstairs has a for sale sign and from a quick peek inside past the vendor kiosks, looked like discarded stuff about and no one inside. Didn't ask anyone because the hawkers for El Faro were out in force.
  15. Most of the pay-go beach clubs offer similar drink options, so you're probably ok anywhere except El Faro, where they'll rip you off. Krazy Lobster is a popular spot and the Chunky Monkey is getting some positive vibes as of late.
  16. Yes there is a beach and a zipline at Mahogany Bay. Zipline is directly across from shopping area. Beach is a ten minute walk along a sidewalk pathway. Unless you want an umbrella or clamshell lounger, the beach loungers are free. There is a restaurant and bar serving food and drink. I have no idea what the cost to zip line is now. Used to be a separate vendor and early on $45. They drove you in a small pickup to the top of the hills above the port and you zipped down. Beautiful views.
  17. Get out of the port!! Head for the malecon(boardwalk). Krazy Lobster seems to be the preferred place for those not doing an All Inclusive. Most beach clubs close around 5PM or once most ships depart. I would suggest Maya Chan for an All Inclusive but It would most likely be closer to 2:30P before you could get there. Even AIs along the malecon are probably not worth a shortened time. After the beach, head back toward port and have a nice apres beach drink or even dinner at Catrina's on the street heading to the port across from the pyramid.
  18. Last time we were in GT, a year ago, I don't recall any food type places between Margaritaville and Jacks. Chair rental places, so maybe there's bar service some where. Used to be a couple of spots but long closed.
  19. Yes there are larger size tenders. Tender crews assist those in wheel chairs and some scooters.
  20. Sorry didn't take one. But last Sunday, self assist started at 6:45A. Pinnacle and Suites went at 7 and 7:15. Tags 1-5 went at 7:30. Didn't pay any attention beyond that except that last tags were due to debark around 8:50. We walked off the ship at 7:25 ( tag 5) and were on Rte 528 by 7:50. I did see luggage already in aisles for the 20s and 30s when we got our luggage.
  21. You're correct. We missed Voices due to scheduling conflicts.
  22. Having just returned from CM, I'm a bit disappointed. Used to be one of my favorite ports. Malecon is getting more "seedy" and loaded with vendors hawking the same schlock in kiosks lining the front of the beach bars. Krazy Lobster has a gazillion different areas, not all connected. The port is no longer a "small shopping area". Takes a good 10 minutes to navigate through and unless you're part of an excursion, to get a taxi you have to exit the port and walk up a couple of blocks where taxis are lined up.
  23. Lots of small shops in the port. All down the malecon in Mahahual are kiosks in front of beach clubs and vendors selling everything walking up and down the loungers on the beach. Can't opine if they are made by local craftsmen or not, but most looked the same to me, just eyeballing. Will say that the port area has gotten larger over the years and not in a good way, IMO. To me malecon looks really run down even compared to a year ago when places were trying to recover from the pandemic. Was very disappointed, as this used to be one of my favorite ports.
  24. It was in low 80s and humid last week. 2 ships in on Friday.
  25. Tap Factory no longer on Wonder. Last week we have Effectors2 and a juggling act-two guys who've been on AGT and other shows. Just an average act. I can see why they didn't win on AGT. As far as I could tell, the Royal Theater was empty except for the last 3 nights.
