  1. My biggest concern was that having a cancer in remission would be a preexisting condition, but that is not the case. If your doctor says you were healthy when you made the initial deposit, and something creaped up later, it appears you are covered. I was pleased with the outcome, and that was the purpose of my post. Have one Seabourn and one HAL later in 2020. A blip in the radar .
  2. If you get the discount and pay for the whole table, you(who pay for the bill will get the discount for your cabin only), everyone else will be charged full price on the Nieuw Statendam. This is if you put the whole table on one bill and you pay for the whole table.
  3. I know many of us have the Chase Sapphire card that offers the trip cancellation. $10,000 pp Here is my story. We put a deposit on a Seabourn cruise in January of 2019 for November 2019. My partner had NHL which had been in remission for many years. Final payment for the November 2019 cruise was at the end of July. Made final payment . In October of 2019, his NHL reappeared to our chagrin. We cancelled in the 50% refund period just a day after his doctor prescribed treatment that eliminated our travel plans. Seabourn refunded the 50% four weeks after we cancelled. Not sure why it takes so long, but they credited our card. Hated to lose all those points. We filled out the forms online with the Chase Sapphire card online with the following items. Scanned in the forms on the Ipad. 1. A detailed two page form that was filled out by his oncologist. He or she has to state patient was healthy when the deposit was made. 2. Cancellation policy from Seabourn. 3.Proof that you cancelled the cruise from Seabourn. You must cancel within 5 days after you are told not to travel. 4.Credit card statement. 5. Itinerary of the cruise. 6 weeks after we filled out the form I got an email to provide routing number and account number for our checking. Remaining fifty percent will be refunded in 48 hours. Two big takeaways. Must be healthy when deposit is made. Doctor must state this. Does not cover preexisting conditions. 60 day lookback from the deposit date. Trip must be cancelled within 5 days of the doctors recommendation. Patience is a virtue. My biggest concern was the preexisting clause. I thought they might decline it , but that was not the case. Long post , but I went through much angst with this process. Thought this might answer any questions. Out of commission for 4 to 5 months, but have our eyes on several cruises in mid 2020
  4. Just did 7 days on the Nieuw Statendam. Purchased the 7 day premium for $111.99 . On the ship it was $139.99.
  5. It would take a lot for me to give up 17 days of an expensive cruise. Sorry to hear that.
  6. I am the original poster, and my friend who treated us was the only one who got his discount. The remaining three were charged full price. I verified this last night.Even though I am five stars , he got charged full price for me. Glad I wasn’t paying.😀
  7. I bought dinner for six people last December at the Pinnacle on the Noordam. No questions asked. However this is the proper way to do it.
  8. Had dinner with a group of five people at the Caneletto. 2 people were two stars. Two were 4 stars, and I am five stars. My four star friends paid the bill thinking it would be 9.50 pp. 50% discount from 19. Caneletto billed him the whole bill, but each meal was billed at the legitimate discount rate. Two at full price. Three at 50%. He was a little disappointed ,but I am glad they are checking. I have read posts where it was said who ever pays the bill gets their discount on the whole tab.
  9. I have used it for up coming cruises and made a 500 dollar payment, and it worked.
  10. I am on board and started with 100 dollar shareholders credit 30 dollar 5 star internet credit 40 internet credit for internet being down two days i forgot I had free gratuities and now still have an 88 dollar credit.is this a use it or lose it situation?
  11. 7 day cruise. Internet down 1 full day and two mornings. However, when it works, it’s fine.
  12. Just checked my Amex everyday card. This offer appeared this am. Will be making a deposit on my future cruise.
  13. Currently on the Nieuw Statendam. Many people have not had their liquor collected when coming back on to the ship. We are in the Caribbean, and liquor prices are very good. Change in policy, or crew just not paying attention ?
  14. Just saw the digital manager. Pro rated a credit of 40 dollars, which is fine for a day and a half without service.
  15. I purchased the premium internet for the week on the ship. Internet was down all day while in port in Amber Cove. In St Thomas currently and it is down again. Just curious if anyone has had similar experiences. Any pro ration of the weekly charge , or is it just part of the cruise contract.
  16. My partner is currently doing chemo for recurring NHL. Doctor estimates it will last from 10/21/19 to 2/1/20. I am currently on a cruise alone and booked a cruise next October 2020 for both of us. From my understanding even if I buy insurance within the next 14 days to cover pre existing conditions, the fact that he is unable to travel on the day I buy the insurance, we won’t be covered. What are my options?
  17. I paid $111.99 pre cruise for the premium which would be $139.99. Savings of $28. I should then get my five star discount of $30 on board. Hoping to use skype and wifi calling.
  18. We have been told not to get to the port until 2pm due to inspections.
  19. We always used that as our souvenir memento. Too Bad.
  20. If I book the premium internet pre cruise online, will I see a statement credit on my shipboard statement of the $30.
  21. We recently moved a cruise from 10/20/19 to 12/28/19 due to my partners recurrence of cancer. We started his treatments immediately. The original cruise was booked during his stable remission period, so it would not be considered a pre existing condition. However, we moved it during the look back period. We are hoping to still go, but if something happens, is there anyway to cover this trip as it was moved during the look back period. My chase sapphire card would have covered it if we cancelled it during the initial re diagnosis by the doctor. We can try to move it later, as the cruise line was able to do so before. We just had to find another cruise with in the final penalty. However, I am not sure they will do it twice.
  22. I think I will arrive at two pm. Not a fan of standing outside.
  23. I have also been looking at these itineraries. Not sure if its worth the trip for a 14 day cruise.
  24. Thanks for the video. I would have no problem in that cabin. Only use the tub to hang laundry on occasion.
