San Diego Port Embarkation Procedure
Can someone please describe the San Diego port area and the embarkation procedure? Also recommended time to be there. Sailing on the Spirit this Saturday! Thanks, J:)
Look into the rollcall for lots of info on this cruise: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=23692986#post23692986
  2. So it was easy to walk in and use the pool chairs with out a problem? Did you pay cash as you ordered or need to set up a account?
  3.
I was there a week and a half ago; the March RD Spirit sailing. Everybody who was there from our ship that day got the same answer. We talked to "Luz" at the concierge desk. It had to have been a recent change. I e-mailed them mid Feb. and they told me it was $30 and you receive $30 credit. Not a big change, IMO since it's pretty easy to spend $30 and I think that's more than fair for use of their gorgeous pool for the day. We used the chairs by the pool. There was a charge for the cabanas by the beach (but we wanted the pool anyways. much nicer). We ordered 6 Pina Coladas (hey, we were there all day :o ) and 1 plate of DELICIOUS nachos. Total was $30. I don't know what the breakdown was from the drinks and nachos were, though. I'm working on a trip report with a bunch of pictures. I highly recommend Las Hadas. I'll try to get my report up this weekend. Look for it! :D Let me know if you have anymore questions and I'll try to help.
So you we able to walk in and use the chairs at the pool for no cost and purchase food and drink ala cart. That sounds great.
  4.
there isn't a charge at Las Hadas. Just pay for whatever you buy. No $30 mininum.
When were you there? Did you use pool or chairs by the pool or chairs by beach or both? What was the prices like? I have e-mailed 5 different people that are heads of their departments at La Hadas and I get different stories from each one. Please help us, we leave in a week.
  5. This may be a good option if the La Hadas is full or jacked their prices Too high.
  6. Has anyone used a credit card to pay for a Las Hadas day pass?
  7.
Yes, the weather was hot, but not unbearable. It felt so good to be in the sunshine and getting away from winter :D I did not swim in the ocean, but did wade around in it up to my knees. I really did not feel like getting all wet and having to change my clothes in port. I enjoy just wading in the ocean. I just liked the layout of the ship better on the Conquest. I liked the pool area better on the Conquest as the deck chairs were kind of layered up from the pool and seemed to be more deck chairs on the Conquest. Also the Conquest ship class are a little wider ship, not that that makes a difference :) Also, on the Spirit class, the hallway were not straight as the ship bowes in and out. If that makes sence. I would sail the Spirit class again though. I am not really sure what a DOD is? But it seems like people had coupons for some kind of money for the casino. Sorry I could not help you there:cool:
DOD is drink of the day.
  8. Did they have the option that when you buy a DOD and bring the receipt to the casino they give you a $5 play chip?

Will Carnival Spirit Change Itinerary to Acapulco?

Don’t be ridiculous. If people were afraid of violence they would have to stay out of most cities in the US. The killings were all drug related, either retaliations crossing the cartel or soldiers fighting the cartel. Tourists do not deal with the cartel. Keep your nose clean and you should not get hurt.

Spirit- to Mexican Rivera- Point loma?
Hello, I have read a few reviews for the Spirit going to Mexican Rivera. The reviewers wrote that it is always rough sea leaving San Diego port going past Point Loma area. Is it always rough sea at Point Loma or is it depends on the weather and mother nature? Where is Point Loma?! Thanks, Tibby
It is not always rough past Point Loma, only during the storms. Point Loma is the west site of San Diego Harbor, it is a high peninsula that protects the San Diego Harbor. Many times the ocean is almost flat and you will have no problem.

    Alcohol from Room Service

Thats where I saw it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1098946&page=30 post 591 Originally Posted by Host Mach Regarding the sales of bottles of liquor on board. As closed as they could come to pricing it's the same as from the Bon Voyage Department. They say that they pretty much never sell any.
I also priced 3 bottles of liquor on the Glory by calling room service and the prices were the same as Bon Voyage as well. There was no information provided about this service on the Glory so if you didn't know to ask, you didn't know it existed. We didn't need to take advantage of this service this cruise! ;)
Has anyone recently purchased Bottles on board?
  12. I saw somewhere that you can order a bottle of alcohol from “Room Service” at similar prices as the Bon Voyage Dept. Is this true? If so, then you do not have to pre-purchase, in case they take it out of your suitcase.

    Chair hogs

Everyone should just move every unoccupied and unattended towel, flip-flops and bag to a central spot so that it leaves the unused chairs open for those who will use them. Then sit back and watch the fun. Of course be available to step in and call security if someone threatens grandma.:D
