We just left the Edge after being on it for two weeks.   The ship is wonderful.   Everything is great.  Too many people complaining on here about nothing   i agree - we were on the March 24 cruise -

We we had a infinite balcony and was worried about the blinds and etc.  Not a problem at all.  We had a SV,  IMO after the cabin crawl, we were really glad we had booked the SV. It seems after talking to many people with the IV most people liked their cabins.  They are nice cabins but we liked ours better.

The Martini Bar is great, nice views from everywhere.   Don’t need  that nasty iced bar top that is messy and doesn’t always work properly.

Eden bar is fantastic.  No one walks around bothering you.   They may approach you during their shows but it is all in fun. I agree.  We had dinner in Eden food was very good.  if you raise your summonsing orb (table candle) during dinner the Edenist will come over and speak to you, otherwise they will leave you alone.  We did summons them and it made the dinner experience so much more enjoyable for us.We enjoyed the show.  it was amazing the gymnastic balancing moves they were able to perform on a rocking ship.

All service is great.   Never had to wait very long to get a drink.   I guess if you  don’t get a drink immediately when your  glass is empty at the happy hour is waiting too long then it may be a problem.  We never used our happy hour perk as we had a drink pack.   We would have a pre dinner drink not on the Elite menu and was served in a reasonable time.

Check in and check out was great.  Walked off the ship picked up our bags, walked past a face recognition screening and out  the door to the shuttle.   No waiting in a customs  line but it is a long walk off the ship and thru  the terminal to the shuttles. again so true!!  We loved the ease of getting on and off the ship.  Hope all cruise lines copy this from the Edge.

Our only complaint is that the prices for booking another cruise is still too high compared to the other ships.

We think that the  Edge is by far now the best ship in their fleet and we been on most of them.   I have heard that the ships that were revolutionized are also very nice and have many of the same features.

I think they are going thru a learning process and some things are being improved or changed based on passengers comments or issues  during their cruises.

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

  2. my two cents -

    Murano for Anniversary dinner

St Thomas - I would do the ship tour St John on your own.  The ferry goes to and from the port - no worries about traffic.  The ship will wait for ship excursions.  We went off season so cinnamon bay was closed and trunk bay was empty.  Very rustic but the best beach IMO. Before getting on the ferry for the return trip to the ship, get smoothies with a shot for the ferry ride home. yummmmmm!!!

San Juan - We have been there several times, as people have said - forts, walk around Old San Juan, shop, ate at Barrachina Restaurant, touristy but fun place to go.  We are going this March on Edge - making sure we try the rooftop bar/restaurant Punto de Vista - in the Milano hotel.

10:30 AM flight - way to close for me - its the end of a vacation - I would rather take a later flight than going right into rush mode.  I try to stay destressed for as long as possible.  LOL

Happy Anniversary and enjoy your cruise!

PS - best advice was from Seabee! DON'T BE LATE GETTING BACK ON BOARD. SHIP AND TIDE WAIT FOR NO MAN!!  LOL

  3. I am so glad for this thread, as I wanted to learn more about the SV. We booked one on deck 10 for the 3/24/19 sailing. We have never been in an aft cabin so decided to give it a try. I have to say we have been wondering if we should have booked an infinity balcony because the concept sounds so appealing, but the size of the SV was larger and the price was not that different from an infinity balcony which helped to make the choice a no-brainer for us. As the saying goes, "always go with your first choice." We have a hold on the center two cabins should they come available because we also thought the balcony looks larger. We are looking forward to the Edge Experience and our first time in an aft balcony.

  4. Anyone? I'd like to know too. From what I've read if you don't get there early you are out of luck for chairs.

I also would like to know where to go on Eagle Beach to rent chairs and umbrellas? Where are there public Facilities? And what time do you need to get there so you can rent the chairs and umbrellas?

  5. While I agree with your sentiment that RCI has "fake" sales, BOGO half off is a good deal, unless of course the base price they use is ridiculously high. The highest I've seen the packages sold for is $58 so assuming that's the price point, it comes out to a good deal. My current sailing has the package at $48 which is the cheapest I've ever personally seen it.

Thats what we paid -- So happy we got a good deal. :D

  6. I believe it’s well worth it although not sure if my belief is strictly financial, I like the fresh squeezed OJ , specially coffeee with a shot of bailey , plus some wine a after dinner shot and a few other throughout the day

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Where do you get the fresh squeezed OJ?

DH and I have the drink package. We are going on a 9 day cruise with only 4 port stops. We got it on sale so we only have to spend $40 per day each. That will be easy especially when you have drink during the day, one before dinner, wine with dinner and a cappuccino after dinner, then a drink sometime later in the evening, then add the water, soda, specialty and coffees. Not to mention we tend to drink a few more on the first two days because we are in party mode before we settle into vacation mode LOL . Factor in the not having to pay for anything at the end of the trip - the beverage package for this cruise is priceless!! :D:D:cool: :D

  7. The Amiga Island excursion in Labadee is very relaxing and it is a beautiful beach away from the crowds. We had booked it a second time for this sailing, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to mechanical problems. We did the jetboat and snorkel instead and were super glad we did. What a fun boat ride and the snorkeling was way better than just off Amiga island. In Curacao, we visited the Sea Aquarium on our own. Great way to spend half a day. I did a Tripadvisor review : https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g147278-d286262-r558653055-Curacao_Sea_Aquarium-Willemstad_Curacao.html

In Aruba we did the Mi Dushi sail and snorkel, booked through the ship. Fabulous time:

Thank you for the suggestions. We were looking at the Amiga Island excursion.

  8. This is our first time on Royal Caribbean - We liked the itinerary. Any one have any ideas on what to do in ports? Aruba we want as a beach day - suggestions on which beach? At a loss on what to do on the other two islands. Also does Navigator have any large Broadway type shows? Any other ideas on what is not to be missed since we are new to the ship and the line.

How is Labadee? Lots of questions!!! Been doing research but for some odd reason nothing is really jumping out at us.

  9. Casinos don't want to drive away their gamblers by restricting smoking.

I have been on several Celebrity cruises and the casino is packed every night.

As a non-smoker, I can spend more time in the casino on a Celebrity cruise because cigarette smoke tends to give me a headache. So technically, I will spend more money and time in the casino when it is smoke free than I do when there is smoke.

BUT .. I think most "gamblers", those who love to gamble and drop much more than I do at the casino, are more prone to be smokers so I would guess that is why casinos are usually not smoke free.

I just argued for both sides! ;p

  10. I noticed this too. I booked via a Us Travel agent and the drinks package has always been $48 plus gratuities per day. I contacted the travel agent when I saw the buy one, get one half price deal and she came back with the same price as it’s always been!

I just did some research. The drink package is now at $55 per person per day plus 18% gratuity and if there are two in a cabin both must get the package. Total cost for a 9 day cruise is $495 per person plus the 18% gratuity. For a total cost of $1,168.20 for two.

With the sale the total cost is $42 per person per day plus 18% gratuity. That is a savings of 25% per person per day. Total cost for a 9 day cruise is $378 per person per day plus 18% gratuity for at total of $892.08 for two.

Buying this package now you will save $276.12.

Obviously, I am going on a 9 day cruise. :D

    I hope this helps.

  11. Has anyone noticed that if you try to order the drink packages online with a sale, it is the same price as without a sale?

I am not sure if I am the only one that has noticed it.

Thank you for this post. I too noticed that a week ago, as it was buy one get one 1/2 off but I never got the reduction. I will call as well now that I know it isn't just me!!

  12. No kids just DH and myself. We are young 55's. We have been on Carnival - hated it, NCL was fun, truly enjoyed our cruise with X so we booked them again to see if it was just the itinerary or X or the X passengers. They were a little bit quieter than NCL - would have liked a little more ship activity but we found people were more friendly and we met some great people on the cruise. We liked that the most about the cruise with X. We are hoping for the same experience in 2017.

I have always wanted to go to the ABC Islands and a cruise is the only way to get DH there. So I compromised -:D These were the two cruises that I liked - trying to figure out which line would fit us best. We have only cruised on ships with 2300 passenger capacity. Princess is about 3080 and and Navigator of the Seas even larger with 3807. So it will be our first time trying a larger ship. I have read the ship reviews. Just looking to see what else people might be able to add to help in the decision making process

  13. Want to go to the ABC Islands in March 2018. Choice of Royal Caribbean - Navigator of the Sea or Princess - Crown Princess. Which would you choose and why? We have never sailed on either line before. Itinerary is basically the same. Will probably book a Balcony or Jr. Suite. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  15. You will find lots of comments pro and con for both lines/ships. Suggest posting the same questions on the RC board and Princess board.

Disagree with Ano's comments about crowding on RC larger ships. Found they handle people moving very well. Design of the ships facilitates good flow of passengers. Sometimes crowded when a show has just finished, for example, or right before dining room opens for traditional dining, but otherwise never had a problem.

    Thank you - I will

  18. Has anyone sailed on a cruise that is an ETA Motorcycle Cruise?

If so does it make a difference? I went on their website and the cruise is sold out. I am not an experienced enough cruiser to understand if this means anything. I already experienced a cruise that was a singles cruise. TA did not mention that - my DH and I enjoyed people watching and listening to the conversations  just felt a little out of place sometimes.

  19. if anyone is on the may1st - may7th summit cruise to bermuda and has too much obc, best thing to do is order up some champagne, soda and juice, and have it delivered to room #6147.

    I'll take it from there.

    lmao
