  1. Lemon tarts for dessert? They knew you were sailing! šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‰ Were they even close to Al Bacioā€™s in taste? Sure look similar šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Such a great menu and perfect serving sizesā€¦Iā€™d still be quite full afterwards.
  2. Your beef lunch dish looks like perfect comfort food on a chilly day šŸ˜‹. How did it taste?
  3. Very excited for you both! Hope this voyage is everything youā€™ve hoped for and Iā€™m very much looking forward to seeing your amazing pics! Bon voyage šŸ›³ļøšŸ„‚
  4. Goodness, I hope not. Weā€™ve an AC flight booked for early Jan from YYZ to YVR to connect to an Air NZ flight. I was hoping this pilots strike situation would be resolved by then. šŸ˜¬
  5. We have medical through my husbands work, heā€™s retired now but still covered so for out of province/country trips we recently bought interruption/cancellation thru Costco. They use Manulife. We found it difficult to get just C&I insurance without buying medical as well.
  6. Premium coffees are those without alcohol, such as lattes, cappuccino, Americans etc. Once you add alcohol they become specialty coffees and are only covered by the premium package, or by paying the difference plus 20% if you have the classic package. A few of the alcohol coffees are covered by classic package but most arenā€™t. Adding a shot of Baileys to your coffee adds a cost of $1.20 if youā€™re on the classic package.
  7. And, for non alcohol drinks you pay the full priceā€¦waters, smoothies etc. We had the Classic package on our last cruise and even with the additional charges for purchases over the classic limit we didnā€™t come close to what it wouldā€™ve cost to upgrade. Obviously thatā€™s a variable depending on what and how much you drink however keep in mind that you can just go with the classic and paying the up charge for a few days and then see whether it would pay to upgrade. Some days we mightā€™ve broke even and other days, especially port days we didnā€™t come close. Ymmv.
  8. I suppose if youā€™re well enough to fetch your own food from the buffet you shouldnā€™t have to worry about the attendant picking up your tray from inside your room.
  9. Wow, took me 6 pages to catch up but so glad I saw this threadā€¦love your postings @Jim_Iain! Hope you have a wonderful time, youā€™re only a couple hours west of me when you disembark in Toronto. Beautiful itinerary and although itā€™s early you might be lucky and see some Fall colours! šŸ Cathy
  10. The difference is most likely due to the reduced number of passengers. July would be a busy month with passengers but August would be swamped. Agree about the dishes being left in the hallway..weā€™ve never had an issue with our attendant removing used dishes from inside our cabin, not sure why passengers think this is acceptable. Canā€™t imagine what their homes look like. To the OP, thanks for posting your review, as another poster wrote, very few current reviews on the board. šŸ™
  11. Because of the backlog in applications and renewals, theyā€™re allowing you to use your current card, even if expired, so long as youā€™ve initiated the renewals process. You should all be fine. Weā€™re currently waiting for renewals on our cards which donā€™t expire until next May but will def be using them in January and May when we travel down under (NZ) and to Europe whether renewed or not. Weā€™re just hoping we wonā€™t need to do interviews again šŸ¤ž
  12. So once again the few have spoiled something for the many. Hope you enjoy the remainder of this cruise, sounds like you are!
  13. Hope you have a wonderful cruise, thanks for posting. What is your itinerary?
  14. Yes, that is what I meant šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Thatā€™s what I was thinking would happen as well, thus why 90 minutes could be a tight connection. Knew someone would have relevant info! Thx @Fouremco
  15. Thank you for this wonderful report and your beautiful pictures. Weā€™ve done Alaska twice but havenā€™t done a land portion in Alaska which weā€™d like to do next time. Weā€™re torn between adding a cruise line land tour or just flying in and doing it on our own before embarking the ship. Would you do it the same if you were to repeat or do you think youā€™d see more and have more flexibility doing the land portion on your own? Thank again and safe travels home!
  16. Will you be able to go thru customs in Ottawa or will you have to do that in Toronto? Might make your 90 minute connection a bit tight? So nice that you are able to travel with your parents, hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
  17. Couldnā€™t they just return the sealed bottle for refund, or sell it online, and use the money to buy some decent lobster and beef? The whole ship could enjoy! šŸ˜‹ šŸ˜‰
  18. That risotto looked amazing! Did it taste as good? šŸ˜‹ I prefer the spacing but Iā€™ll take whatever is easiest for youā€¦just grateful that youā€™re doing this while on your holidayā€¦thank you so much!
  19. Thank you for this helpful explanation. We are leaving from Amsterdam but returning to Rotterdam. Getting to our Airbnb prior and then to the port seems straightforward itā€™s getting from R to Schipol at the end, in a timely yet cheaper fashion that weā€™re trying to sort. Seems like we can walk to a tram station near the disembarkation and take that to the train station. From there itā€™s direct ride to Schipol. šŸ¤ž Did you purchase a transit chip card or just use your credit card?
  20. Thank you both! Very reassuring. @puppycanducruise how did you get to the train station? Any issues with luggage on the train? Weā€™re four adults with one spinner each and carryons. Did you prepurchase your train tickets? Thanks!
  21. Our credit card was charged about three weeks ago, havenā€™t heard anything else. No news is good news?
  22. We disembark on a Thursday in June. The only nonstop AC flight is at 12:15pmā€¦Iā€™m thinking that would be too tight? Other option is same flight next day and we stay either in Rotterdam or closer to Schipol. Of course that adds to the expense of the trip. KLM has 2 non stop flights at 10:50am (never make that) or 5:50pm. If we took that later one weā€™d have plenty of time to get to Schipol and could maybe store our bags in a locker until we can checkin? Thanks for the suggestions!
  23. I hope youā€™re feeling better soon! I was diagnosed yesterday with pneumonia, first time for me, after a very ill weekend. Never realized how exhausting itā€™d make me feel. Anyway, Carol, thanks for updating us and please wish Norris a timely recovery ā€¦.donā€™t think anyone recovers quickly from pneumonia. Iā€™m grateful I was able to come home to recoverā€¦different healthcare system here $$šŸ™„ Cathy
