Thank you very much...looks pretty good to me!!
-
It has been a few years since my last cruise.....
Sailing on the Dream out of New Orleans in September
1) we have purchased the Cheers package....am I correct in the first day (Sunday) we can start drinking but we will have to pay tax on each drink, then once we sail there will be no sales tax.
2) our ports are Montego Bay, Cozumel, Cayman Islands.....if we decide to go with a NON-Carnival excursion.....do most of the tour people pick you up at the port or do you have to get a taxi to meet them? Or is it just best to go with the Carnival excursions?
3) Menus---I've heard the menus have changed does anyone have pic's of the new menu or have any thoughts on the food. My last cruise was on the Elation in 2012, I thought the food was good with that menu!!
4) we have a 7 day cruise, is there still 2 fancy nights? do you still get the lobster and steak on those 2 nights?
thanks for the info in advance! any other tips for the Dream will be greatly appreciated!!:D

does anyone have pics of the menus? its been a while since I cruised and I had read that the menus changed.....I sail in September and would like to know what's on the new menus
-
Do you have any pic's of the menus? I'm going on a 7 day so is there still 2 fancy dining nites, if so, can you still get lobster and steak?
-
You will still pay state sales tax on each drink while in port.
Is this at every port?? I'm going to cayman island, Montego Bay, Cozumel so how much tax would I be paying if I stay on the ship those days and drink??
-
These are a bit outdated but should give you a rough idea
http://www.zydecocruiser.net/Carnival-Bar-Menu/CarnivalCruiseBarMenu.htm
That menu is from 2014....how accurate do you think it still is??
Is there still Jack and Jim and Seg 7?
I'll be on the Dream in September and if those 3 are on that ship my husband is going to be tickled pink!!!:D:rolleyes:
-
If they don't get it use Facebook Messenger. We used it on the Dream, worked fine,
I'm assuming you paid for wi-if to use messenger...... how much does that cost?
-
I'm booked for September.
looking forward to seeing the upgrades the ship gets,
I've looked and as of right now the faster to fun is sold out, does this ever change? It's 9 months till we sail and it's sold out already???

The MDR does NOT have "better food" than the steakhouse on ANY night.
it's been a few years since I've cruised......going on a 7 day.....will I have lobster and prime rib for 2 of those nights?? or is that gone and you have to go to steakhouse ?
-
Breeze has not been enforcing the deco policy and Dream seems to have gone beyond. There needs to be consistency to be taken seriously.
I'm planning on going on the Dream, so most likely they will take it down? I never do anything outrageous, just mainly make my door stick out!

thanks for the newer menu's with the prices, I think we are moderate drinkers so I do believe this would benefit us!
I know you have to give your sail and ship card and sign every time you get a drink, so the total should say ZERO?? correct?? Or do you have to ask everywhere you go if this is included in the Cheers program?
-
That chart is old, so it might not take so many to break even with Cheers.
How much of a difference is it?
-
Thanks for the breakdown!
Can someone post where you get the milkshakes, is there a menu with pricing for that?
And can you get these drinks anywhere on the ship or just certain bars?
-
Oh, I could see where that could be handy!! thanks for the info!!
-
What is the American Table menu/Feast menu? Its been about 4 years since my last cruise, how different is the food menu??
-
what do you get with this?? is it just getting to your room faster? and if so, how much faster do you get??
-
Also, the Red Frog Bar.....I've read some reviews there is games in there, how much do they cost to play?? Do you hand the bar tender your S&S card??
-
It has been a few years since we have cruised. The last one was about 4yrs ago on the Elation. That has been the biggest ship we've been on!
Thinking about going on the September 19-26th cruise. I have a few questions.
1) are the menu's all different now?
2) no bottles of soda now, just cans Correct?
3) how do you eat in the Steakhouse, who do you make reservations thru?
4) besides the steakhouse, are there any other food places that you have to pay for??
Are the balcony's really worth the extra money, I would be letting Carnival pick it for me to save a little money. I know that this is a personal question, but has anyone ever got one and then wished they had a inside?? We have always stayed in the bottom of the ship and my husband is adamant about having a balcony or he wont go.
Any other tips or thoughts about this ship would be greatly appreciated!!
-
It's been a few years since I have been on a cruise with Carnival..
Can you still order 2 or more things of the menu??
Example.... I would order 2 shrimps for my app and then my husband ordered 2 lobsters.
Just wondering if you can still do this?

I have been looking at the August 30th cruise, it has ports that we have never been too..... since I want a cove balcony or reg balcony (either one)
what do you think my chances are if I wait till June to book to get one of those rooms??
I kind of want to wait to see if the price goes down, or they will be having great deals because it is hurricane season!!
We've always stayed in the dark bottom of the ship so this is going to be a treat for my husband, he told me he was going to get "buckets of beer" and sit on HIS deck and I would have to bring him food!!! LOL
-
We have also been on the Elation, we had a great time on that ship!!
We usually self disembark and like to get off as early as we can!! I'm not opposed to parking at the port, we may just find a hotel in French Quarter and do like you did and just drive to port and park!!
Thanks everyone for all the help, it seems like things change so much when a few years go by!!
All this talk about new menus coming out, do you think the Dream will have the new menus by late Fall 2015?? or just the same ones that they have now??
-
Thanks wbc12345.......
Maybe I should just wait till October, I would love to go in April (like usual) but this year we just can't. We can do any month really after April, just during the summer months the kids are out of school, that's what made me lean towards September since school has re-started by then!!
I'm so torn.....October seems so far away!!! LOL
-
August and Sept. are very hot in NO and the Caribbean. I'd go with Oct. but you may pay a little more.
I know it will be hot but.... its hot here in Missouri too like 95-100*, and I figured being on a ship will give us a little breeze!!! :)
Except when its time to sleep, I've read some reviews about the A/C not being very good, is this still true??
-
Thanks everyone for the input!!
We have only cruised in April..... always had great weather!!
We will drive to NO, so don't have to worry about flight plans, but just really concerned about being on a ship for 7 days and its rainy and cant enjoy the outside!!
I know we cant predict the weather, was just curious what others have experienced during those months.
Mainly just worried about being on there for 7 days and it rains and we cant enjoy the outside decks!! I know it may happen but I think I've been spoiled by April weather!!
Thanks for the hotel input I will check into those!!
