  1. I forgot to add that they also had lactose free milk onboard for those with lactose intolerance.
  2. I have a milk allergy and Silversea was fantastic. They offered both a soy and almond alternative (don’t know if options will be the same on every cruise). Food was delicious and safe to eat. Simply wonderful experience.
  3. I could see Royal Caribbean buying Crystal’s river ships to incorporate into Silversea. It’d be a good fit and an easy assimilation. Fills a void in their lineup.
  4. Sadly, liquidation is being discussed in the press: Seatrade Cruise News Genting HK suspends payments to creditors, sparking 33% drop in share price Mary Bond | Aug 20, 2020 Genting Hong Kong has suspended all payments to creditors, sparking a 33% drop in the company’s share price. Genting cited COVID-19’s impact on its operations — which include Dream Cruises, Star Cruises and Crystal Cruises — for the cash crunch, in a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange Wednesday night. ‘The Group has undertaken a number of cost reduction and cash conservation measures to mitigate the effects of the resultant loss of revenues from its operations,’ the statement said. The company owed a total of $3.4bn as of July 31. Bank fees due on newbuilds On August 17, Dream Global One Ltd and Dream Global Two Ltd (subsidiaries of Genting HK) were required to pay bank fees amounting to €3.7m in connection with the financing of the construction of ‘certain ships’, said the company statement. Those fees were not paid. Earlier this month Genting warned of a year delay in deliveries of Crystal Endeavor and Global Dream both under construction at own yards MV Werften and severely restricted operations and revenue generation at entertainment and leisure businesses Resorts World Manila and Zouk, Singapore. Taiwan cruises In late July, Dream Cruises did return to service with Explorer Dream on short sailings from Taiwan for the local market. Planned restructure Genting HK said it will use its available funds to maintain critical services for the company’s operations and asked creditors to form a steering committee to evaluate a planned restructuring proposal. Analysts in Asia were suggesting Genting may look to sell assets, or possibly liquidate the entire company. Copyright [emoji767] 2020. All rights reserved. 5. Cancelled March 8 for a July 8 River Cruise Refund Received June 24
  6. I’ve been waiting 106 days for a refund am going to take it up with my credit card company. It’s my first time disputing a charge like this. Did you challenge the total charge or did you make note of the $200 penalty in your claim? Thanks!
  7. On our Crystal Rhine cruise last summer we had a few teens and children on board. One boy was about eight years old. Another family had two daughters, one in high school and the other in college. It was their second Crystal river cruise. It was a joy having both families on board. Ages on the cruise ranged from 8 to 80+.
  8. Crystal would be a nice choice. Also has connecting cabins.
  9. I was nervous about the “balcony windows” on Crystal, as well. So glad it didn’t keep me from booking. Turned out to be a fantastic feature. When lowered, the window can either be left fully open or with a screen. We had it open for picture taking and while sailing in the Rhine gorge. It turned the whole room into a luxury balcony. We would use the screen at night. It was almost like camping on a river bank. You could hear the gentle flow of water and look at the twinkling lights of little towns as you floated by. Truly magical.
  10. I called Viking a couple of years ago to ask if they could accommodate my food allergies (dairy, gluten, shellfish). They said no and hung up on me. Uniworld was happy to accommodate me, as was Crystal. We ended up going on Crystal and loved it. I suggest calling the cruise line and ask BEFORE you make a reservation.
  11. I highly recommend a Crystal river cruise on the Rhine. We took our first river cruise on the Bach last summer and loved it. Unfortunately, I tripped on a cobblestone on day 2 and landed hard on my knee. While I still did most excursions, one day I stayed back while my husband and adult son went off to Heidelberg. I was disappointed to miss the sights, but knew I needed to rest and elevate my knee if I was going to enjoy the rest of the cruise and our following week in the Alps. Turns out I had a wonderful day sleeping in, eating breakfast in bed, and then reading a book on the top deck. Crystal has an amazing sun deck with sofas, comfy chairs, and sun loungers. I was not alone up there -- I spent a few hours getting to know some of the other guests over mojitos. It was a fabulous day. The waiters were on duty and the pop up bar was open. Crystal also offers massages and has a nice indoor pool. The coffee bar is open all day for drinks and snacks, and of course, a full lunch is offered in the dining room. The cruise was so good that we booked another one on the Danube for this summer. We picked a 10 day cruise so that we could spend more time just relaxing on the boat a few days to better balance out the sightseeing.
  12. We were in OS 943 on the Muse. Never heard any noise from above. Great suite!
  13. Looking forward to hearing how you like Crystal Bach. We had a fantastic time on the same cruise this past summer. I’ve followed your travels on the Crystal Oceans board and enjoy living vicariously through your blog. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
