  1. Happy Saturday! Thank you to everyone who makes the Daily happen! What a great team. Strawberry picking this morning. Best part of warmer weather is the fresh produce. Be well, stay safe, do good deeds.
  2. Yes, you may want to bring ear protection for him.
  3. Happy Anniversary! Love the photos. I’m glad you had a great dinner. I have no problem with the water crackers you were served. I’m all about the cheese!
  4. Chalky, pasty, didn’t melt in your mouth, flavor was weird, did not taste high quality chocolate.
  5. On the Rotterdam in August we ordered it to share since we don’t usually eat dessert but love chocolate. We both took one bite and pushed the plate away. We thought Lindt would be embarrassed to have their name on this dessert. YMMV
  6. You will lose your prepaid cruise appreciation if you rebook and there probably aren’t any aft balconies available. Will you use the thermal spa on a port intensive cruise? Do you need the laundry package? You can stuff a bag for about $30. You have to do the math.
  7. The only time we have checked a bag was our 22 day cruise to SA & Antarctica. It was 100 degrees in Buenos Aires and 20 degrees in Antarctica. I believe you are on a cruise with similar temperature differences. Our checked bag contained our winter gear and I was terrified it would be lost. We use the ships laundry. Wearing the same outfit twice (or even three times) does not bother us. With regards to the OP’s question, my DH is always hot. He wears black Sketchers, black Dockers, a dress shirt and a tie on dressy nights.
  8. Happy Harvey Milk Day, a day of special significance in schools, to educate students about Milk's contributions to the fight for equality and civil rights. A quote from Milk: "All men are created equal. No matter how hard they try, they can never erase those words. That is what America is about." Be well, stay safe, do good deeds.
  9. @markwfpbYou can easily order off of these menus in the main dining room. Even The Pinnacle has vegetarian options. Vegetarian Menu Indian Vegetarian Menu Thanks @Crew News for posting the menus.
  10. Vancouver is my favorite “big” city. We were lucky enough to be there for the International Fireworks Competition prior to an Alaskan cruise. I love fireworks and this spectacular event takes place every July. The first night we saw them from a revolving restaurant, I believe it was called Top of Vancouver. The second night we walked from our hotel which was near the port. Everyone was so friendly. Thanks for the photos. Here is a Yoda quote related to our quote of the day, “Do or do not. There is no try.”
  11. @dfishPosted some good recipes today but I like to focus on seasonal ingredients. Here are two recipes from a favorite website, Love & Lemons, which I made and enjoyed this spring. You could look on the site for other recipes. Ingredients can be prepared and store in separate containers for delivery. Farro Salad with Grilled Asparagus (You can easily substitute quinoa.) Mango Ginger Rice Bowl I love the snow peas in this one. My other suggestion is ingredients for a salad. Be sure to include a protein, I love beans. It is very kind of you to contribute to the meal train. Maybe a grocery store gift card would be better. It can be very difficult to find dairy free vegetarian meals in restaurants that are not vegan. Often, the only thing available is a salad. Even the vegetables are often cooked in butter. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  12. I have switched my prepaid sold out shore excursions to use nonrefundable OBC without losing my place at the ShoreExc desk. (I then receive refundable OBC, not cash.) If this is a concern for you, ask before you change your method of payment.
  13. This thread contains slides the Captain used for his presentation after the dry dock This is a thread from someone currently sailing in the Oosterdam. You may want to ask specific questions there. I look forward to cruising on her in November.
  14. I thought you didn’t fly. How will you get to the east coast? A simple Google search will provide all TA cruises. HAL will send Oosterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam to Europe next spring.
  15. I noticed the cheese selection on the late night dining menu states, “and crackers”. Have you actually seen crackers onboard? I have resorted to eating my cheese with bread. I know you and several other favorite posters have been bringing your own crackers.
  16. HAL laundry service is excellent. I pack in a carry on and send out laundry frequently. Nothing has ever been shrunk or damaged. There are no irons or ironing boards in cabins.
  17. A big day in Baltimore! Today is the last Preakness at the “old” Pimlico. It will be torn down and rebuilt after today’s race. Be well, stay safe, do good deeds.
  18. Sea bands, Motion Eaze, candied ginger and green apples.
  19. Happy Friday! The first place winner from the Save the Bay contest sponsored by CBF. The sun sets over Chickies Rock overlooking a bend in the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania by GEORGE KURZIK Be well, stay safe, do good deeds.
  20. @Haljo1935I hope you have a wonderful cruise. I look forward to your impressions. Preakness this weekend🏇🐎🐴 @Hogladyrider I don’t think I would ever be able to get my DH on ship with 5800+ passengers…a main difference between HAL and MSC.
  21. Did you have a special Pinnacle supplement menu specific to your cruise? We had a different one for Mexico and Hawaii when we dined at the Pinnacle in January . This was true at both lunch and dinner.
  22. When I have been unable to check in online that is because the dreaded SSSS has appeared on my boarding pass. This means you will have to go through a secondary security screening. Your documents will be checked prior to security. Prior to boarding the plane, I have been patted down, questioned and my carry on luggage throughly examined and swabbed. This has happened to me on 2 out of 4 international flights this year. I hope you have an uneventful flight and a wonderful cruise.
