  1. The Atlantic Room is used for Cards, Bridge Classes and also see Watercolor activities. We've seen this activities after breakfast time and afternoons. All the other times the room is quiet and open to use. The Commodore Club is a very pleasant location for social gatherings and on the Port Side the wonderful accompaniment by the Pianist in the evening hours. The Club is not noted for loud or disturbing music. IMHO, it do not think the Suites above would be effected.
  2. Appreciate your answer since we are in the same situation and my wife mentioned it just a day or two ago. Sort of in the same boat (ship)....lol......
  3. alex_drew, So sorry you have this problem to solve. Too bad the QM2 couldn't sail out of Norfolk and your problems would be solved. Though you would miss the opportunity to sail out of NYC, the "Big Apple".... We sailed out of Newport News once on the QE2. They brought us to a pier in a Container Port for our visit. Once also we even came to Baltimore which was a Container Port.
  4. We have never had a problem with the disembarkation off to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in all the times which are many and thru the process. We agree with your method which is the way we handle our departure and all works out for best. We can't believe some of the experiences from other passengers that are posted. All have to have patience and all works out with a pleasant experience ending a wonderful sailing on the Queen Mary 2.
  5. Not having been to Portland since 2001, awaiting the Shore Excursion Listing for the June 29th 4th July sailing to see what they are offering. We saw something in the past with Kennebuckport having been on the listing as a possible excursion to. We have always considered Bar Harbor as our #1 Maine Port we love to stop at. Especially to enjoy a Lobster Lunch and picking up Blueberry Products they are noted for. But just walk around is a top pleasure we look forward too. On the Bucket List next time.
  6. ACE2542, Attached is a photo from the QM2 Upper Deck Cabin (Deck 13, Forward) of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The Brooklyn Terminal is to the far left and the Water Taxi Terminal is to the far right. The Sheltered Building (white roof) off the walkway with the continuing metal bridge.
  7. Highly Recommend the Norwegian Fjords cruise. Though we did it on the QE2, we found to be very enlightening and entertaining to experience. We really looked forward to sharing all the videos and pictures with those at home of what we saw. Doing it in July, we experienced the un-setting Sunset. Spectacular experience to see and record. We chose to return on the QE2 TA which was very restful after all the touring on the previous sailing. Enjoy It!
  8. Waiting too for this information as our sailing is on the 29th of June...
  9. We are so sorry we only get BBC America on our Cable Service in NY....
  10. Not sure if we would experience the Grill Status we would give up the Queen Room Tea Service and the atmosphere it shares. We did in the past enjoy on the QE2 tea in the Queens Grill Lounge off the Boat Deck. The Grill was setup for such service. Let's see if we ever book Grills...
  11. Sorry to change the subject a bit but....... My Small but always memorable pleasure is living by the New York Harbor - The Narrows and seeing the QM2 arriving and departing especially by the VZ Bridge out of our front windows. Especially seeing her during the different times of the year. Majestic during the Summer and Brilliant & Glistering during the Winters Morning & Evening in the Dark.... How Lucky we can see her each time she visits our wonderful city...
  12. They Play other Music besides...
  13. That the joy of Sailing......Enjoying the Culinary Journey of the menu and our Favorites on it.
  14. We have had Vibes or Purple Haze on sailings. They play at sail aways, in the Indoor Pool on Deck 12 and also late night in the G32 Disco...
  15. Going to Sail on a cruise at the end of June, I too am disappointed with the VP's operation over the past. Use to use it for planning and monitoring for information and feel lost with this sailing. Practically have little information to confirm with on line. So use to the old site and all that it offers. Hoping it will be more informative in the next two months otherwise calls to Cunard to confirm questionable entries... Agress Cunard needs a good IT person or staff.
  16. Ynox, Great idea Corned Beef Hash for breakfast. Never thought of it. May have seen it but never thought of it. Always have Eggs Benedict for the first morning breakfast. But must give thought on our upcoming sailing. Thank you....
  17. I do sense somewhat the same smell. I use to remember smelling while boarding the QE2 on the old open gangway the smell of the fuel being transferred from the barge along side the ship in Manhattan. Then the distinctive A/C in the Midship Lobby with Elene Mackay welcoming you back on board as if it was yesterday.....
  18. Walking thru the Gangway in Brooklyn and finally seeing in the distance the entrance of the Ship's Grand Lobby and knowing we are on board Feeling the first movement of the ship departing from the pier - The Trip Is Truly Starting Hearing the Fog Horn blasting during the Night Seeing the Full Moon shining on the Ocean during the Night across the horizon Excitement of Entering the Club Britannia Dining Room on the First Evening, looking forward to the Culinary Journey The evening shows in the Royal Court Theater The sound of the Orchestra in the Queens Room on the First Night followed by the Disco in G32 And that's is just the beginning of a Wonderful Sailing on the Queen Mary 2...
  19. While we sailing on the QM2, we do show our appreciation for the efficient and professional way the room service order is taken. And we also appreciate the quickness that the order is delivered to our room. Hot and complete all on one tray with all the condiments we requested to accompany the order. They appreciate the tip as much as we appreciate the service. To each is own but it is a personal expression of the service.
  20. Another Good & Great Reason to Celebrate!
  21. When we did the Fjords on the QE2 we flew to London and transit to Southampton. Then we sailed from Southampton on to the Fjords and TA back to New York. Enjoyed the Fjords and rested on the voyage back across the pond...
  22. larrythelabrador, On our next cruise, we will be having Black and White again and Roaring 20's for the first time. We too are researching what we need to get and bring.....we are having fun and hope you too with what you decide to bring and wear...Bon Voyage...
  23. luvtocruise88, Welcome to Cunard and the Queen Mary 2...You will truly love your first time on board. We still remember several decades ago our first sailing and we are still sailing on her, another coming soon. It will take time to learn about her but with 22 days, you will really enjoy all that she will offer you....ex dining, excursions, entertainment... and take memories home to remember... Oh yes, you will want to return to sail on her again...
  24. haircut4u, We have always had excellent results with ordering Room Service on the Queen Mary 2. We normally call and not use the door knob tag the night before. This way we are up and ready to accept the order at the door. When we use Room Service during the day, we also call the order in and we have it delivered within 20 - 25 minutes. If you ever wish to try a great sandwich on Room Service, my favorite is their Club Sandwich which I have one every sailing.
  25. Dear tampagirl2, Forgot to mention in previous posting, we viewed the whales heading down from Boston and along Cape Cod coast.
