  1. Might not be as expensive as you might think. Until more destinations open up bookings are down and they have some pretty nice deals. Also, if people can get used to a bit less space, everyone, regardless of stateroom gets the equivalent of a suite experience, and with all going on shipwide you likely wouldn't spend a lot of time in your room anyway. Roy
  2. Nieuw Statendam is actually Docked in Port Everglades with a "Scheduled" departure at 10PM. Roy
  3. I have no sunrise for September 23 and I am going to September 18. This was taken September 18, 2014. on a 6-day Carnival Fantasy cruise out of Charleston, SC. Roy

  5. Thank you for the Thursday Daily, Rich. Dogs in Politics will be popular here. I haven't played checkers for many years. National Fitness Day should be universal and not just in the UK. I will celebrate this with my Cardio Rehab today. @grapau27 should now be about 2 hours away from his procedure. I love the quote. Have not been to Dravenai Island. I like the meal. My alternative is Railroad French Toast as served on the Empire Builder the day I arrived in Seattle (September 23, 2017) to board MS Oosterdam. https://solocabinchallenge.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/frenchtoast.jpg Today’s care list: Welfare of furloughed crews Western wildfires cat shepard’s friend undergoing chemo for stage four cancer but responding VERY well StLouisSal’s friend Lady Hudson’s BIL in rehab Grapau27 cataract surgery Sam in rehab an hour away from home and Mamaofami insurance hassles From the rotation: Me awaiting PET test results HAL Sailor DH health issues Celebrations and Shoutouts 2 BHB with passengers Front Line Health Care Workers 1 day forCruising-along (Perhaps this should be Bon Voyage since when tomorrow's daily arrives boarding should be starting) HAL4NOWat sea Welcome home Overhead Fred NextOne helping with family move Welcome home Lindaler Seasick Sailor feeling better after thrush Icand9223 away on river cruise Booster for Quartzite Cruiser SusieKislandGirl in Colorado with grandsons full range of motion for cat shepard Welcome home Dfish and Staff Captain Sabine, HAL’s likely first female Captain(I know this is a repeat but she’s worth it) Roy
  6. My most recent view of Crystal's first ship, now Asuka II, docked in 2018 in Baltimore. Roy
  7. Maybe I'll go a bit off topic here. I did the same tour on the Zaandam in 2017 (The return to San Diego from Buenos Aires after the last Antarctic cruise of the season. It was my only visit there although it was supposed to be the second after Crystal Symphony a year earlier. That cruise did go to Antarctica and Punta Arenas was supposed to be our major resupply point after Antarctica, but we could not stop due to 50-knot winds. Our next stop was Puerto Montt, a tender port. As I recall, the next few days we had a few "Interesting" menu choices. We did get permission to arrive in Puerto Montt a day early. There were already 2 other ships in port that day, Ocean Princess and NCL Sun, with 2 tender docks and 2 slips which made for some crowded conditions: Here's a wider view of the tender dock: They were able to truck some (I don't think all) of our supplies up to Puerto Montt, and we did load some supplies with the aid of a landing craft: Roy
  8. Refresh my memory here. I thought Queen of the North was a grounding due to inattention to navigation on the bridge. Is my memory getting foggy.? Roy
  9. Surprise, Nieuw Statendam is apparently docked in Port Everglades, scheduled to leave at 10PM tomorrow. Still on the schedule for 9/27. Roy
  10. I've never been to Puntarenas but have been to Puerto Caldera several times including April 15, 2017 on MS Zaandam. It's quite close to Puntarenas where the Eurodam was docked. I It is a cargo port. There's a small structure at the side that's purportedly a terminal there but there was no activity there: My tour included a short jungle cruise and a ride on a train that was originally used to transport produce to the port but now just a short scenic train: We did not seem to disturb wildlife going through the jungle and I "caught" this howler monkey: Here's another view of our train as we disembarked, about 20 minutes from the port. Roy
  11. Excellent news. You need to be at your best for your reunion. Have fun. Roy
  12. Wishing you an excellent procedure and speedy recovery. Roy
  13. I think that's the wrong Puerto Arenas. Today's port is in Costa Rica Central America. This is a lovely port though. Roy

  17. Thank you for the Hump Day Daily, Rich. I am so ready for fall. Elephants are amazing and Business Women really enrich our culture. I love the Cahan quote. Been to Caldera several times, mostly on Crystal but also on MS Zaandam. The lamb sounds great. 19. I thought when the promotions were announced Raphael was going to be moving to Symphony and Shane to Serenity. Is this a change of plans or an adjustment due to travel difficulties for Shane? Roy

  22. Thank you for the last Daily of Summer, Rich. I'm not quite sure what Chinese Moon Festival is but it sounds interesting. I love miniature golf but haven't played it in years. A special salute to International Peace. Nice Herrick quote. I have very sad memories of Fremantle as it's the end of both the QM2 and Amsterdam World Cruises in 2020. I like the dinner suggestion. 23. Adding Symphony 12/4/21 Endeavor 12/10/21, dropping Esprit I have started issuing “Bon Voyages” as cruises are a week, away from starting. The list of people I include comes from the main Crystal Forums “Future Bookings” thread. The roll calls are semi-private while anybody can read posts on the main forum, so I do NOT transfer names from the Roll Calls to the Bon Voyages. If you want to be included in the Bon Voyage you must post your intentions on the on this thread: Future Bookings I expect most Yacht and River cruises will not generate roll calls. Where I learn of a roll call I’ll try adding it to the bottom section. I know that many of the cruises listed here either have been cancelled or will be soon, but I will continue to list them until 30 days past the end of the cruise in case people will want to discuss replacement cruises, refunds, and the like. Cruise critic has instituted an automated “roll call finder”. I think it is in people’s best interest if this thread and the automatic system produce the same results. For that to happen, It seems like the best format is month, day, year, and NOT with a date range. (Rather than a date range consider something like Crystal Symphony June 15, 2019 for 14 days.
