We were on the Denali Explorer tour and wondered if we got this car due to having a mini suite?? When we got to the train the guy looked at our ticket and said boy did you luck out! And directed us to the first car on the train. It was not a Princess car but had a regal name that I forgot.. Gold Star maybe? It looked like the Princess cars had the forward and backward seats with the tables. Have no idea how they assign the seats but we were very happy with this car

We rode the Denali to Whittier train in May, we were in a beautiful domed car with all seats facing forward, plenty of leg room and dining below. We were in the first car right behind the engine. My only complaint is that they started seating for lunch from the back of the car so we didn't get lunch until almost 3:30. We could have ordered something delivered to our seats but wanted to wait for the dining room - our choice.
