  2. just come off the Majestic Princess this morning and they had the Balloon drop last night. Was advised balloon drop would still be there for our New Year cruise - but they have dispensed them in using them for celebrations on the doors / camp discovery.

Has there been anything official from Princess.

Princess may not build any more small ships but the fact that this one almost always sails full and people (like us) are willing to pay a premium to sail on her tells me that Princess knows they are filling a small niche in the market with this ship and won't be getting rid of her any time soon.

i know many people were saddened when the sun class ships sailed for Australian waters - only two if them left now as well. Maybe Princess should build a few of these to act as their small ship cruising perhaps

Did you just call the hotel directly? Which rental companies do they have?

Booked with hertz on the internet , shows to be 4 miles from the tender dock.

    hope that helps

  5. Hyatt regency Maui has a rental  depot . Which we’ve organised a rental from for our upcoming visit .  I think we will just get a Uber  / taxi  to get there only a short ride . Can even return the car after hours as well

  6. Does anyone know how long it takes to disembark in Honolulu (getting off/ pick of bags / clear immigration and customs)

We are arriving off the Ovation of the seas at 6am on the 2nd May. We are Australian citizens.

I have a Johnny cab pick up at 0845am for a 1045am inter-island flight to Hilo.

We did come off a cruise in LA San Pedro from Princess cruises in 2016 and it was a very quick procedure and was quite surprised.

Welcome all information as we are just planning on what time to disembark.

    Cheers

  7. For what its worth.

We are on the Majestic Princess on the 18th June from Singapore to Shanghai and its not available to us either to pre-purchase

So maybe it selective and not available for all cruises this year. Even princess cruises yesterday advised me it was not available for this cruise.

Yet some people on our roll call advised they could see it and had infact purchased it. So perhaps it maybe region specific -ie not available for those in Australia to pre purchase.

  8. If she ever got posted to Australia i could only see it here for about 2 months at the most and another 6 weeks would be taken up by relocation voyages, and it would not happen any sooner than the 2019/2020 southern summer. However as has been suggested it depends on how the market takes to the Cold Northern winter later this year and the forthcoming winter. By that time Princess will be onto a new ship and surely the Australian market is entitled to it given it will be a more mature market within the next couple of years.

  9. It depends on where you are sailing. eg we were just on the Emerald to NZ and the pools were heated to between 27.0 to 27.60 degrees centigrade although you felt the cold once you got out so not many were in the pools. Conversley the pools are not heated when you are in the tropics as its beautiful just the way it is.

  10. Some more information, however i don't have the actual cruises, perhaps somebody has the information.

    More

Highlights from Princess Cruises 2018 cruise vacations to Europe, include the maiden call of Sapphire Princess to this region, as well as roundtrip British Isles voyages aboard Royal Princess departing from Paris (Le Havre). The 2018 season features five ships sailing to 115 destinations from the corners of the Mediterranean to the northernmost tip of Europe. Guests can choose from 57 unique itineraries on 168 cruise departures, visiting 35 countries.

Additional information about Princess Cruises is available through a professional travel agent, by calling 1-800-PRINCESS (1-800-774-6237), or by visiting the company's website at princess.com .

  11. I suspect they are a bit later this year, as they are still trying to finalise the Majestic Princess rollout and charter contracts for the Sapphire and Diamond Princess (if applicable) .

Having said that if the US sailings go on sail May 18 Asia should rollout a week or 2 either side.

However I suspect at this time it s been released to trade already, no one is willing to post the information, Since the Australian/NZ cruises were released to us on cruise critic about 3 weeks before going on sale.

  12. Just my two cents worth for 2 seasons we have had 5 princess ships based in the Australian summer and all of a sudden we go down to 4 ships as per the recent announcement.

It stands to reason the Majestic Princess will spend the Northern Winter down in Australia for the summer. I couldn't imagine there being too many cruise goers wanting to cruise around China / Taiwan/ Japan / South Korea in near zero temperatures around December and January.

I suspect as she comes down she will do a short two month spell in Australia / New Zealand just as RCL's Ovation of the seas for her first season this coming year in Australia.

Princess will not let RCL take over from Princess in being the most popular line out of Australia, I suspect we should get an announcement a little after the existing schedule has gone on sale on the 21st April when they announce the Asia Schedule.

Its just a guess but stands to reason.

  13. No information on Singapore yet. Could be as soon as next week or as far as another few weeks yet.

From what I believe these should go on sale on the 21st April 9am AEDT (that should be 6pm on the 20th east Coast US time I think.

If I can dig anything up on Singapore-Asia I will let you know. Maybe China on the Majestic will be announced at the same time who knows.

  14. Hi All ,

Below is the schedule for the Northern Winter Schedule for 2017-18 to Australia and New Zealand

    Hope this helps anybody

  15. would dropping of earlier before the hoards arrive help to avoid that wait at the entry to the pier.

With all the ports ive been too it seems to be one of the most awkward places to pick and and drop off for taxis, It has something to do with security at the entry point with letting only so many vehicles through at one time. Problem is you 20 to 30 taxis waiting to enter for embarkation and you have about 500 people minimum waiting for taxis on disembarkation. Ive done it 3 times in Melbourne and about to do it again next month..... I don't for see anything different but I don't have any choice with young children

In March though i'm not waiting for a taxi any longer I am organising a prepaid transfer to the airport. a 90 minute wait for taxis at 9am in unforgivable.
