Live from the NCL Joy May 2-12, 2025: Dad cruises again!
rxlowry replied to YVRteacher's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Don’t rule out the luxury lines, as pricing can be comparable to Haven. I think it could be a good fit for your dad as I think they have better service. I’ve enjoyed your trip report so far. Thanks for sharing your trips -
NCL Aqua Inaugural TA, it should have been much MORE

That is really disgusting! Great review though and I have also enjoyed your live reports! -
I agree with you. I have tipped extra if I have asked extra or if the service has been above and beyond. However, I don't tip every drink or meal which I think is extreme. From MSC FAQ: MSC Cruises does not recommend tipping individual members of staff.

Wrapped towels and no belongings, I means unoccupied to me. She was out of line!

What kind of dancing were you thinking? There is a small space to dance and my husband and I have done a few rumbas on both Seascape and Grandiosa. I think we might have done a cha cha or two a well. The music is usually pianists or a duo, sometimes a guitarsit. I feel non-dancers have a tough time with these questions. If you don't mind being a solo act, there is dancing. There is a deck party with DJ and more club style music and line dances. If that is the vibe you are looking for, you can find this in the ship each night. Hope that helps!

We asked last week on Sun Princess in Crooner's if they had snacks and was told no.

I’ve done YC and Seabourn, Crystal and Regent. (Trying Silversea this year) YC is great but it’s not the same as luxury. The food is better on luxury and you get elevated service everywhere. Pricing though on MSC is great and it’s perfect if you want big ship things but a place to have a luxury experience

How is the video poker in the casino? Do they have All-Star machines with different varieties? Thanks!

Do they have any non-ice cream premium desserts? Or can you get the sundaes with a non-dairy ice cream choice?

If you’ve been to Soggy Dollar, I feel it’s easy to be disappointed by this drink -

Not something to do but if you like seafood, Kelly's Landing New England Seafood is great. The have amazing whole belly clams which are so hard to find outside of New England area. Lona is great if you like Mexican and it's walkable from the W. -
I feel like Alaska is usually port intensive with earlier arrivals in port as well. I think it will be ok..maybe the sea day but even those typically are filled with nature viewing.

Day 3 At Sea Chris went to try watercolor but the room was full. People we spoke to said you need to go 45 minutes early if you want to participate. We did chat with people from Rotterdam at the airport and they said they had trivia twice daily every day and lots of activities. So this might be on the cruise director not Holland. My Holland experts, weigh in please. I will say our cruise director, Stephanie was not very visible. She didn’t even come out at end of shows. I actually thought her announcements on the PA system were AI with how it was read.

Day 2 Nassau For all aboard at 1:30pm, I was sad to not see more activities planned. No trivia at all. If you disregard all the gray things which are all promotions, it’s pretty empty. I thought Oceania was the most low key but these day time things are pretty weak. Coloring for adults twice a day? I mean that’s something that could be out to grab anytime.

Sorry for delay. Early seating was 5pm this cruise. I’m glad we chose anytime as this would be way to early with some of the late arriving ports
