  1. Hi, Nancy, The available verandahs are obstructed view. I've had a rough year or two; a Vista suite and CO might give me a "suiter" cruise to look forward to.
  2. Do passengers in a Vista suite on the Rotterdam get an expanded breakfast room service menu? Any changes in any other room service menus in this level suite? Thanks; all info gratefully accepted.😊
  3. I'm now thinking about upgrading to a Vista suite for the shower and the extra space. And it's a pretty cabin and has a verandah.🙂 I'm a solo senior and it's been a wicked year - I want something to look forward to. It doesn't seem many Club Orange members get the cabin upgrade, but the few other little things give me something to consider. I'm trying to make this a special cruise; that's why I'm willing to spend the extra $.💰 What is the current cost of CO? Do members pay a fee for every cruise thereafter once they join, and if so, what is that fee? Is anyone here a member who wants to add your 2 cents? FEEL FREE TO EXPRESS YOUR IDEAS AND TIPS - I LOVE READING THEM!❤️ ALL INFO AND OPINIONS ARE APPRECIATED, ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM A 1ST TIME HAL CRUISER. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.😉

  5. Crystalspin, I decided to book the largest OV. I've cruised the Caribbean and can forego the verandah. DO YOU KNOW: is there a glass door on the shower? I saw a cabin pic near mine (on the Rotterdam) and the SHOWER CURTAIN jumped out at me. Maybe it's an accessible room??? A shower curtain = a different cabin! I love the sound of your Dressy night outfit: dressy and classy and comfortable all at the same time. With only 2 such dinners on my cruise (9 days), packing 1 dressy outfit will be enough. Slightly lighter luggage...a good start. Thanks for all the info - it's so appreciated.
  6. WOW! You all have been so helpful. Thanks for sharing so many thoughts, opinions, and pieces of information.I love research on my laptop, especially when it's for a cruise! Between all the nice folks on this site and the HAL website, I've already some semblance of a grip on some of the in's and out's of the line. I still have so many questions for another post soon to come. For now, thanks to you all, a few decisions: ...no suite this time around ...I'm going to the Caribbean on a 9-nt, so once I get my wardrobe together, I'll decide whether to do the laundry package or not ...packing lighter is the way to go and overpacking is ME - adjustments have to be made; too many injuries and chronic pain to lug too much stuff In the meantime, happy cruising, everybody! I'll be back soon.
  7. Thank you so much for the info; I know this took up a lot of your time. You are sooo kind. I wouldn't mind a solo cabin, except the idea of no sofa/chair...A few more questions: The Vista Suite on the Rotterdam is lovely, but over $5K for me. I'm thinking about it, though. I thought I saw a few extras mentioned (??). Do you dress for the Gala nights? Cocktail dress, that is. Is the laundry service worth it to cut down on packing? The cruise I'm looking at is 9 days; I have an injured neck, arm, shoulder, fibromyalgia - packing lighter would be SO great. PAIN!! I usually sail Celebrity; do you think HAL is a good substitute? What makes them so special for you? Again thankful - this is so helpful.
  8. Hi, HAL cruisers, I've cruised about 15 times, but once I decide when/where I'm going on HAL, it will be my 1st time cruising with them. To begin, here are my first questions: 1. I'll sail on one of the three newest ships. If I book a solo cabin - ...ROOM ENOUGH FOR COMFORT? ...ANY WITH A BALCONY? ...ANYTHING MISSING FROM A "REGULAR" CABIN? 2. Is the only difference in Veranda cabins the location? 3. If you stayed in the "least" suite, was it worth the extra $? What extra services/stuff come with it? THANK YOU. I've been reading and researching, but health issues = exhaustion...please don't think I'm lazy! I'll be back to ask for your help and opinions again...and again...
  9. Has anyone done the dreadful deed of removing belongings that have been occupying a chaise by themselves for, well, a while? Of course before doing so, you could perhaps ask nearby folks if they've seen any passengers using the chaise in a reasonable time period. I have cruised on other lines and taken books, sun screen, towels, etc. from a chair; oddly, not ONCE did anyone show up, either to claim the chair or their stuff - they were gone!! So, fellow cruisers, who among you has been so bold as to TAKE A CHAIR from another passenger who was MIA? What was the result? Have you done so on Oceania?
  10. For what goods and services does Oceania allow OBC's to be used? Gratuities? Beauty Salon? Etc.? Please help by telling me specifically. Thank you, fellow cruisers.
  11. I am cruising Oceania in 2024 for the 1st time. For me, it's expensive but a splurge and a "bucket list" cruise. I will not get into an argument, but neither will I stand around like a fool while these chair hogs enjoy the spa, lunch and a cabin nap. I will move the stuff that has been rudely left there as if the chair is personal property. I've been told I am respectful and polite, and will be so on board at all times...but this is MY cruise, too.

  14. I've cruised 15 times, but this will be the 1st time on Oceania. I will be sailing in a veranda stateroom. For all you Oceania veterans: what do you feel is the average tip for a server who delivers room service? FYI, on previous cruises, I tipped a higher amount for dinner in the cabin vs a pot of tea and cookies at night. It seems to me carrying a heavier platter with more dishes and food (plus any preparation of the meal for which the server was responsible) = a higher amount when giving the gratuity. So, fellow cruisers, share the tipping experience, please, relative to "room service". Thanks for your thoughts and assistance.
  15. "The Butler" is mentioned on many of the posts in this topic...so, is room service from the specialty restaurants available only if you are in a suite?
  16. Yes, I'll be on the Insignia December 5; it's a great package (all 3 OLife perks) and my 1st Oceania cruise! Will you be on this sailing? BTW, I'm from NJ, too, the Jersey Shore, and now I live in SWFL. From pines to palms!

  19. Good morning, 1. I'm sailing on Oceania's Insignia out of Barbados in Dec., 2023. Does the ship depart from the port in Bridgetown? What are some of the hotels close to the port? Any with shuttles? 2. However far is the airport from the port? Thank you so much. I have a broken arm and a concussion, and chronic fatique, and I've been looking for some specific info all morning. My arm is singing to me, and my eyes are closing, so I appreciate the assistance.
