  1. I do agree Jim! Some of the so called hand luggage is enormous and it's so unfair to those who abide by the rules and then can't find room in the overhead lockers and have to put their bags under the seat in front which restricts the foot room. If they have rules in fairness to everyone they should be applied! And this is an easy one to monitor at check-in.

Yes kruz, nothing more frustrating than getting to your seat to find theres no room in your overhead locker due to oversized hand luggage that sometimes belongs to someone from many many rows

  2. For the first time ever after 25 Thomson cruises, we came back and thought on the basis of the evening meal we wouldn't recommend Thomson until we hear there have been improvements (we'd be embarrassed if they went and found it was no different from our last experience).

Something that will be a large share of Thomsons customer base, recommendations

After our first couple of cruises with Thomson raved about it/recommended to friends. Now if i`m recommending Thomson to friends(and I have to many)I cover the whole package eg the good, the not so good and the indifferent so as to not feel embarrassed if friends go and find differently

  3. Just booked Flights from Manchester to Dublin to go see some family who moved over there .

Got the flights at £9.99 each way and was expecting a service charge of some sort for using my debit card ...but nothing :)

I then looked at the priority boarding ...its now gone , just book a seat if you wish from £5 so no more mad dash for a seat .:)

(Not that I need it but the hold Baggage was I think £15 for 15kg and £25 for 20kg)

So thats a first for me with Ryan Air ..Not charged anything extra :)

So anyone doing a cruise only from Palma ..I would keep this as one of your options ,should you be willing to fly with them .

    Not what it seems ;)

  4. You must have been a good boy ;)

  5. I only found this forum when OV2 sailed away in the sunset and we(MJTS)were looking for an alternative/similar type cruise ship as in casual cruising. From my first post was made to feel welcome and gleaned some great tips, advice and info on Thomson cruises and been here ever since.Strangely feel I/we know everyone on here although we`ve only met a few in persons.

Unfortunately for you lot I`m still here and have no intention of going anywhere for the moment anyway.I dont do facebook,I dont do twitter and I`m not a member of any other cruise forum and have no incling..... only CC

Although I`m not posting as regularly(can hear the group sigh of relief) I`m on here nigh on nearly everyday so more of a curtain twitcher for now.The reason for not posting as regularl?I dont know really, probably like Nell because I have nothing constructive to add to some threads.

This is a great forum, frequented by friendly, helpful folk lets keep it that way

ps when did anyone on this this kind forum last write a letter to someone

    not e-mail  ?

In december when I wrote my wish list to Santa :p

  6. Hi Shirley - Mrs Jim here (Gwen). So sorry for not posting sooner and hope your Christmas and New Year were good for you and all the family. All fine here and busy at dads house painting etc. I was remembering you away soon on your cruise. A couple of lovely ladies that come into my work are on the same cruise on 2nd feb. They love the Dream as well. Yes we are on Majesty on 16th May on the Adriatic itinery and cant wait. Was laughing when discovered you booked again for Riviera Beach. Just last week we booked up for 7 days from 22nd March. What are we like!!! That'll be me a week of following One Vision about! We have treated ourselves to an Ipad but still working it all out so be great to take that on holiday. Grandson aged 2 in March works it better than us. Anyway hope you and sister etc relax and enjoy your cruise. Thats what your dad would have wanted. Take care and I am sure will speak or meet up soon on our travels. Best wishes from Gwen (and Jim as well)

  7. Just bouncing this up the board for new cruisers, and old cruisers who may have forgotten!

Just done mine for the May 2014 cruise.

You must do it before you go to the airport according to my booking email.

    Flopsy

Category=Old cruisers that may have forgotten ;)

Thanks for heads up Flopsy. Not sure if we`ve done ours and were away in May also.

  8. " Hi all, We’re sorry you’ve been concerned by some reviews you’ve been reading. We’re always disappointed when we hear that we haven’t met the expectations of some of our guests. We pride ourselves on the quality of our onboard experience, and take all our customer feedback very seriously. Rest assured though, our customer satisfaction scores are at a record high and we certainly haven’t introduced any cost-cutting measures. We hope you have a lovely holiday, and please let us know all about it when you get back."

A bury your head in the sand response and much expected

  9. Paguera was a German resort in 1973! Magaluf was quite an upmarket resort then with the Hotels Barbados and Antillas. We stayed in the Hotel Guadaloupe 2 days after it had been opened. There were only a few hotels at Santa Ponsa which had a fabulous beach. Bet we will find some big changes when we stay in the Son Matias this September. :)

Me and MJTS honeymooned in Paguera in the early eighties and it was certainly German oriented then but still a fair number of brits there.Stayed in Santa Ponsa a few years back and popped along to Paguera for a wee visit and we were about the only Brits there

  10. We stayed at the Grupotel Camp de Mar, nice small beach with a lovely little restaurant reached by crossing over a footbridge from the beach (you can feed the fish on your way). Might be a bit quiet for some although we spent some lovely nights walking along the candlelit boardwalk to the little bars. Not keen on Palma Nova, too noisy and full of hen and stags for us.

Mmm,been going to Palma Nova for many years and cant say I`ve seen too many stag and hen parties apart from those passing through on there way to Magaluf

Not much to do in the evenings, it is a really chill out location although the neighbouring resort of Paguera ( I think that is the spelling) is just a taxi ride away.

Although a nice resort Paguera is very much geared towards the German market

  11. Anyone who booked early last year for Summer 2014 may want to have a quick check of their flight times. We booked in May 2013 for a back to back on Majesty sailing 25th July. We fly out of Bristol and when we booked your outbound flight was 13.00pm and our return flight was early evening. I went to check the latest prices today and was stunned to see our outbound flight had been moved to 5.30am, a night flight as it's before 6.00am, while our inbound flight was now 10.40am. Working both these times back to allow travel and check in and they are now quite anti social and not at all what I had originally booked:( I would not have even considered a flight that meant I would need to be at the airport at 3.30am.

    Hi Joe,

Happened to us a couple of times.Changed from a later flight to a red eye flight but its suited us

I reckon the reason its showing 5-30am is because they dont have a scooby what time it will be departing just yet and gearing you for an early start also thought the first flight out of all if not most airports was 6-00am,certainly is for Edinburgh.

Anyway, did a bit of digging and checked Bristol airport flight schedule and Thomson flight schedule as it stands at the moment and it shows the flight(possibly and probably yours) from the EM-Corfu scheduled to depart at 6-05 am and return flight departing Corfu at 12-15 pm

We haven't been told either, so it'll be interesting to see if we do hear or just get to see when our tickets arrive.

In our experience....You might, you might not and you may only find out once your tickets arrive

  12. I'm sure any holiday i have booked with Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook, or anyone else, the flights have always been sold as advisory, and that times can change, and flights times are not actually confirmed until a month or so before the actual flight, is that not the case?

In fact, if i login now to my next holiday, it states to check closer to the holiday date for confirmed flights times (even though i have flight times from date of booking), so nothing is guaranteed, and as far as i was aware, never was.

This is waht it says in the A-Z in the brochure:

    Flight Times

Actual flight times are on your tickets. They are local times based on the 24–hour system.

We can’t guarantee the flight times in our brochure, on our website or on your booking

confirmation won’t change, so please always check your tickets.

This is the section that talks about major changes, and if compensation is payable by them:

    Major Changes To Your Holiday

Occasionally, we have to make major changes to the flight or accommodation making up your holiday with us.

Major changes to your holiday for which we will pay compensation unless the change is for reasons beyond our

control (see `Important Note - Events Beyond Our Control’), using the scale shown, may include the following

changes: a significant change of destination, a change in accommodation to that of a lower category, a change in

the time of your departure or return flight by more than 12 hours, a change of UK departure airport (excluding

changes between London airports, London, Ebbsfleet and Ashford stations and between Dover/Folkestone ports).

Then there is this one (although it does saay they should advise you, that's the section that says that flights are for guidance only):

    4. If We Change Your Booking Details

We hope that we will not have to make any change to your holiday but, because our holidays are planned many

months in advance, we sometimes do need to make changes. We reserve the right to do this at any time. We will

let you or your travel agent know about any important changes when you book. If you have already booked, we will

let you know as soon as we can, if there is time before your departure. Flight timings shown by us are for guidance

    only and may change.

Thats about it sodafountain.I also believe its Brussels who actually set the time schedules.

    Hi Jim

I'm not looking for anything. Don't want flowers, booze, chocs or anything else. Was so upset but the situation is recoverable and just wanted to register my dissatisfaction.

    Hi skioncruises,

In that case,if you do get anything send them on :D .Seriously can understand where our coming from

They managed to tell me of a flight change going out to Barbados two months after booking (February 2013) but could only drop the bombshell last Friday once they had my final balance (eleven months later). Plus the fact that (thanks to a fellow CCer;)), although I was told there was no flight at 1230 I found out it did exist but appears to be for those on the 20 nights. Those doing 27 nights are being put on the 1800.

Doesn`t take Taggart to decipher they knew everything all along but convienently forgot to mention it

I feel sorry for anyone else who has still to pay their balance and thinks they have the same flight as we thought we had. They may not know yet as we booked through CD who want their money 12 weeks before whereas TAs are 8-10 weeks. The proverbial could hit the fan in the next couple of weeks.:)

    Oh dear
